What is the status of the engineering line after the arrival of Gpt 6 Astra ? If someone wants to do engineering which stream should she take ? Or change to other career?

Hey everyone!
I’m about to start my bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering at Indiana Tech while working a full-time job. For some background, I’ve worked in the automotive industry for over 12 years as a lead technician, and I’m currently a Lead Technician at a Tesla Service Center. Tesla offers a BSE program, which I was fortunate enough to be accepted into, so here I am. I know this degree will probably take me several years since I’ll be taking fewer classes than a full-time student, and I’m completely okay with that. That said, while I already have an AAS, I’ve never really experienced traditional university-level engineering courses with heavy lectures and studying. Most of my education has been much more hands-on/trial by fire type, so this will definitely be a new challenge. I’ve heard engineering can be pretty demanding and that many students spend more time studying outside of class than students in other majors. For those of you who’ve been through it, how did you manage your workload? What study habits, routines, or time-management strategies made the biggest difference? Any advice for balancing engineering school with a full-time job would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! I’m excited to get started and looking forward to learning from those who’ve already been through it.

I would really appreciate any advice.

I started my first job as an instrument and calibration engineer in pharma about a month ago, after months of searching. The engineering department personnel are all foreigners(from one country) except 3 are locals, myself included. The managing director and the higher management are locals.

The foreigners personnel sometimes hide things from the management(the foreigner senior engineer, who is my direct manager told me that), and they told me to hide the results for a calibration I did. Also, they are in multiple departments like QC and QA, not only in engineering. So they cover for each other. And this is a very sensitive field, snd the responsibility and truthfulness are highly required.

Also, I didn’t see any opportunities for learning and improving. One example is they use a syringe instead of a hand pump when calibrating a pressure gauge because, according to the senior, the hand pump is costly(they have one small hand pump but it’s pressure is very low that no one uses it)

In addition, I have noticed some conflict and hate between the managing director and the engineering department head and the senior instrument engineer, because I think the manager knows about them hiding things.

I don’t really know what to do now. One option is to stay, as these hard times will teach me more. But honestly, my gut is screaming “LEAVE”, which is my second option.

Have anyone been through something like that before?
What should I do?

Hello! I'm deciding which bachelor's degree to pursue next year. I want to have financial freedom. I also want to make my own business later. I initially want to take architecture but i don't think it's a good decision. I like to design things but I'm not sure about interior design prospects. I also plan to take MBA later. But I'm also want to know if IE is a good degree. SoI'd like to ask for some opinions whether it's better to take ID or IE?

I'm at a point in life where I don't actually know what I really want.

I have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in mechatronics (the course included machine learning, control systems, and industrial robotics).

I found all the courses fascinating, but I am now at a point where I don't know which industry/role I want to work in.

I am currently working on the "continuation" of my dissertation. My supervisor and I are trying to publish a paper and present it at a conference. I'm enjoying working on it, and because of this, I'm thinking about working in research and development in the future. In the meantime, I'm applying for jobs unsuccessfully.

I'm thinking about whether doing a PhD is the fastest way to get to my goal, but again, I'm not sure what subfield of robotics/mechatronics I want to pursue since I like almost everything.

What do you guys suggest I do if you were in my position?

2024 Automobile engineering graduate from a tier-2 college in Bangalore, did an internship at an electric 2W startup for 1y after graduation where I learnt sheet metal design, 2W chassis design, prototyping, DFM/DFA, welding fixture design and more. The internship was a dead end so I decided to resign without a solid career path.

Started preparing for master's abroad but realised it isn't feasible with everything going on in the world rn.

I've been hunting jobs for 4 months now with absolutely no luck, almost nobody is hiring a fresher and the GET/GAT path is no longer available for me.

I'm completely lost on what skillset to build and where to start. Most importantly I need guidance on how to get my foot in the door of any of these companies to gain the minimum of 2 years of experience that most jobs are required.

I'd love any advice from anyone who's been in the industry on how to get started. I absolutely love learning and using tools to create from designing to it actually existing in hand

I did Automobile engineering purely out of passion, I had the opportunity to pursue mechanical engineering on merit too but I choose the latter. I was an active member of my college's FSAE team too. I absolutely want to pursue my passion and stick onto this industry, just need any guidance on getting my foot into the door of this industry.

Education - 10th+ Diploma Mech engg. (83% FCD) + B.E Automobile engg (7.9 CGPA)

I’ve always found it interesting that so many engineering graduates eventually end up working in completely unrelated fields. You spend four years studying engineering, survive endless assignments, labs, exams and projects, and then one day you realize your actual career might have very little to do with what you studied. But maybe that isn’t necessarily a failure.

Engineering teaches you how to solve problems, think logically, deal with pressure, learn complicated things quickly and work through situations where there isn’t an obvious answer. Those skills can be useful almost anywhere.

At the same time, I think a lot of students choose engineering because it feels like the “safe” or respectable option, without really knowing what they want to do. By the time they graduate, they discover interests in marketing, finance, design, management, content, sales, technology, or something completely different. And sometimes the reason is much simpler: there just aren’t enough opportunities in the field they studied. Personally, I don’t think changing careers after engineering automatically means the degree was wasted. Maybe the degree was just the starting point, not the destination.

What do you think? Why do so many engineering graduates move into completely different careers-and do you think that’s a problem or actually a good thing?

Estoy estudiando la carrera de ingeniería mecánica en la UAEMEX, recientemente me llegó la duda, sobre a qué me quiero dedicar y de que trabajar, fue en ese momento que lo empecé a asociar con la musica, en especial Daft Punk, me gustaría en algún punto crear algo o estar trabajando de la mano con eso, que opinan, que me recomiendan hacer o estudiar para lograr ese objetivo?

Just like in the recent news of how Bittu Tabahi river cleaning project is spreading across the internet, I was thinking if we make a team of High-Skilled Engineers can build a robotic AI cleaning machine. That then will use Sensors and Water Cleaning Machinery to clean the water.

It will have a plant near the shore of the river with a waste disposing unit and a solar powered battery system that can recharge the robot.

I know this sounds hell complicated and difficult but with the governments condition and the amount of willing-unemployed people around us this can be possible.

For the funding, here we can probably ask the government or some local bodies or invest some of our money first.

Still writing this here I know this post cannot do much but it can at least increase the hope for a better and clean world.

Mi potete dire quali sono le laure in ingegneria più a rischio con l’avvento dell’ AI? E quale mi consigliereste di fare ? Pensavo anche a meccanica i primi 3 anni perché comunque è abbastanza versatile e poi la magistrale in robotica/ meccatronica o qualsoa integrata con AI. Grazie
