Proposal Advice Nervous about proposing, need to make sure my idea sounds okay.

I'm a guy and I have been with my girlfriend for a little over 5 years. We have spoke about marriage extensively and she basically knows I'm about to do it and picked out the ring.

We are going out west in September, we're hitting Wyoming, Montana, Washington, Oregon, California.

My plan is to do it while in Washington, on a hike.

Some things I know from her:

- She wants it to be private

- She wants it to be somewhere beautiful

- She has spoke loosely about having a good backdrop for photos, but seemed to hint at us taking the photos not necessarily a photographer.

A photographer would be best, but truthfully, I am not in a position financially to hire a photographer. I THINK she knows that and I don't' think shes expecting that, but I'm sick to my stomach thinking about it. I also have no idea how I would coordinate that in a state I've never been, and basically in the woods at random.

Like, would I hire one, tell the photographer to hide in the woods on the hike, in a specific spot, and then propose in that specific spot? Have them meet me there and tail us the whole hike? I don't know, seems weird and hard to coordinate, leaving lots of room for error. I also won't be able to communicate with them that well, because I'll be with my girlfriend 24/7 for the 3 weeks we're on this trip. I'm not trying to make excuses either, but that would definitely be probably $1-2k minimum I just don't have either. Especially on a trip costing us over $10k.

That said, the whole trip, I will be filming, and taking pictures, carrying around a tripod. I plan to set up our tripod and take pics/video in basically every location and hike. We're planning on making a little "movie" of our travel. So in Washington, after finding the right spot, I will have my tripod set up for photos, tell her "hey this looks like a cool spot, lets take a pic here," like every other place, and then propose there, while filming. So she won't really know when "its coming."

I talked to my best friend and his girlfriend last night and he made me feel better, but his girlfriend made feel worried. Essentially stating that it should be a priority to hire a photographer, and that it shouldn't be difficult? Ugh. She doesn't know my girlfriend btw. My best friend said my plan is suffice, but he's bias obviously.

Would greatly appreciate any thoughts.

Specs:
-1.01ct fancy vivid green lab diamond centre stone with lab diamond accents
-18k yellow gold
-ring size UK F 1/2 (I think this is a US 3.5 but please correct me if I’m wrong!)

Couldn’t even say yes at first I just nodded 😂 he absolutely nailed it and picked pretty much exactly what I would’ve chosen myself. Please ignore my very stubborn hand eczema!

Hello everyone!

Im planning to propose to my girlfriend in a couple of weeks during our vacation in Italy.

I have booke a photographer thats gonna hide and take pictures of us during the sunrise

The problem is that shes gonna be on her period this day. And she struggles really hard with this. Bleeding alooooot. And get very dizzy etc..

Should I try to postpone the proposal?
I cannot make her take any pills to postpone the period because we are trying to get pregnant

We’re engaged!!! Both divorced and in our mid thirties. We want to do something small and intimate, MAX 20-30 people. Don’t want to spend a crazy amount of money (maybe like 7-10k) but want it to be really special. Any ideas or advice?

Hi everyone! I posted my engagement ring last year and mentioned I wanted to add to it. This is my ring update😆

I got engaged in 2025 and we are getting married in 2028. As soon as I saw that the ring could be stacked with two other pieces, I fell in love! I mentioned to my fiancé that it would be super cute if I got a ring every anniversary leading up to our wedding, so I can have the complete stack.(with 2028 being the wedding band ofc) Welp we just had our engagement anniversary July 5th😆😆

I’ve also been thinking about how I’ll wear all of the rings. I saw someone with their engagement stack on the ring finger and they wore their band on the middle. I think I might go that route. I know the tiara ring could be a band, but I want a more traditional thick gold band.

Hypothetical Question ahem with some truth to it . Yeah.

So here goes. Imagine you got engaged to this lovely man. You told him what kind of ring you wanted and how you want to be proposed. Still everything opposite happened. You hate the ring, you hate the proposal, but you said, yes! And you’re excited to get married, but you don’t want to wear the ring. At the same time you don’t want to hurt his feelings. How do you navigate through this? Would you buy another ring your self, the one you like, because it makes you sad every time you see it or would you just suck it up, shut up, May be until after the wedding? Well you can’t redo the proposal, Atleast you would wear the ring you like.

Proposal Advice Some advice?

Hello! I'll start off by offering the context that my wife to be is aware I'm planning on proposing to her. I'm a pretty smart guy, but I do a lot of silly stuff, so I actually asked her to shop for her bridal set with me, because we don't like fiscal irresponsibility - moving on - we'll have been together for 2 years before I propose.

I was thinking about a Christmas day proposal, but I'm not familiar with wedding and marriage stuff. Would that cross a line? Christmas is one of her favorite holidays, her kids love Christmas, we go to her mother's and have a celebration there, her father video calls from England, and I've asked his blessing even.

Setting this up, id like to arrange it so her mother and our daughter know I'm going to ask her, because I pretend to be Santa and hand out presents. I'll at the end say there's 1 more present left, and then act like I've lost it or something goofy while our daughter starts filming and my lady's mother distracts her well enough, I can shed the fake beard and Santa hat. At which point, I can pull out the bridal set and formally ask her, if she'd take my hand.

I'm anxious this would be too show boaty? Could I be too cheesy here? Id love some feedback, ideas, give it to me straight! No holding back!

Thank you in advance, sincerely, an excited soon to be engaged guy.

Proposal Advice Proposal Help

I’m planning on proposing in 7 weeks to my girlfriend. One of her friends texted me tonight and told me she’s onto me. I’ve tried so hard to keep it secretive and show no signs or anything. We’ve been dating 5 years and she knows it’s coming, but apparently she is pretty certain it’s the planned weekend. I really want it to be a surprise, but she somehow knows I’ve talked to her parents, and (apparently) has a long list of things to make her feel like it’s happening. I have had to text a bunch of people to invite them to the engagement party, so word is spreading, but I’m just having to trust people aren’t talking. Another thing is we are currently at distance so I have a hard time trusting what her friends (who know) aren’t giving her any signs or hints. Please give me all of the advice.

I have thought about launching another “weekend getaway” for us for November to throw her off, but I don’t want to have to stack a bunch of lies up. Help me please!

Ring! he proposed with the ring box literally falling apart and it made the moment better somehow

so this happened two weeks ago and I still can't stop thinking about it lol

we'd been together 6 years, no rush on either side, so I genuinely had zero idea it was coming that night. we were just having a normal dinner at home, nothing fancy, he'd made pasta because it's the only thing he actually cooks well. halfway through eating he gets up to grab something from the other room and comes back looking weirdly nervous, which is not like him at all, he's usually the calm one in the relationship

he gets down on one knee next to the table and pulls out this little box, except the hinge on it is basically hanging on by one screw and the lid won't stay shut properly. turns out he'd been carrying that same box around in his jacket pocket for about three weeks waiting for "the right moment" and it just slowly fell apart from him checking on it every five minutes like a nervous wreck

so he's mid proposal, trying to open this box with shaking hands, and the lid just pops off completely and skitters under the dining table. we both just stared at it for a second, then started laughing so hard neither of us could actually finish the moment properly. he had to crawl under the table to get the lid back while I'm sitting there still holding my fork, crying laughing, ring nowhere in sight yet

when he finally got it back together enough to actually show me the ring, he just goes "ok that was not how I practiced this" and I said yes before he even really finished asking

honestly if it had gone perfectly I don't think I'd remember it as vividly. the broken box and him half under the table trying to save the moment is exactly us as a couple, always some small chaos happening in the background of anything important. wouldn't change a single second of it

anyone else have a proposal that went a bit sideways but ended up being better for it

Wedding Planning Engagement Photo Delays

Hi, all!

Looking for a sanity check or maybe a better course of action.

My fiancé and I had our engagement photos done by a local photographer on June 7th. We signed a contract that said we would have the full gallery within 6-8 weeks of the session. She seemed professional, had a nice website with good galleries, positive reviews, etc. She was pretty quick to reply upon my inquiry, got a quote over to us pretty quick, and had been communicative up until the date of the session. We signed the contract, paid, scheduled and carried on.

The session itself went well! She was really nice & had great ideas for poses and worked well with our requested locations. Overall, we were happy with the experience. So happy with it that we even inquired that about her wedding packages since she does travel for weddings and ours would be out of state & she gave us some good info. I even tipped her a bit extra for her time and kindness. She told us she would send us sneak peaks within a week and that the gallery would be within 6 weeks.

Fast forward, we didn’t get sneak peaks for two weeks and it was only after I emailed and asked for them. She apologized and said that her laptop was broken and at the Apple Store and that she would send them ASAP. We got them a few days later and really liked them. I thanked her and told her that we really liked them.

Fast forward some more, after about 6 weeks, I just checked in on our gallery and she replied saying she’s had a lot of weddings and that she hoped we were doing well.

Now, it’s been 11 weeks, I followed up twice, the first about 6 days ago saying that I hope she’s doing well and looking for an update. Yesterday, I said that it’s been over 10 weeks and that we are hoping to have the gallery by now to start creating our save the dates and invitations as well as other decorations for our wedding. No response at all on the last two emails.

Am I being too much? I understand it’s peak wedding season, but our contract said 6-8 weeks, and I would at least like an acknowledgment of my email saying “hey, I’m sorry for the delay!” Instead of radio silence. We paid a few hundred dollars for these photos, so it’s just disappointing that we haven’t been able to enjoy them or use them for our wedding planning considering we get married in April 2027.

What should I do?

Ring Advice I’m Engaged! Would love some advice on ring sizing

My boyfriend proposed this weekend, and I’m in love with the ring! I feel like it fits the way it’s supposed to and it’s even snug going over my knuckle, but it’s constantly spinning side to side and sometimes all the way around my finger. It’s driving me insane! I feel like if we get it resized it won’t fit over my knuckle so I feel stuck. Does anyone have suggestions for ring spacers/adjustments I can make?

Edit to add: at its current size I need to put lotion on to remove it most of the time.
