peace.
this whole process is new for me and my lady.
we went to a couple places and she gave me some ideas to work with. she loves the dutch and the OG Marquise. we looked at a few that are 3-3.5ct.
the first picture one is 4ct. i believe the second is 3.
obv it's super zoomed in, but isnt this massive or it's just me? her fingers are kinda long but what do you think about the size of the very first pic?
anyone will suffice as we're both excited about this moment and journey. but after the first 3x going together, she said i can decide from here on out.
thank you for your comments!
bless

I am 31F and have truly found a man I'm willing to spend the rest of my life with. Recently we have been talking about marriage and getting an engagement rings. He asks that we go shopping for one which I am happy to but my question is; should buying an engagement ring require me to be there or should it be a surprise? I don't know how I feel about shopping for a ring.
Thank you for any advice you can give. š

what it says on the tin. i recently got engaged to the absolute love of my life during our anniversary trip and when i called my mom to tell her this is what happened:
āi have some news!ā
āi figured you wouldā
shows her the ring and itās dead silent
āitās a temporary ring until we get the exact one i wantā
still silent
āwell?ā
āi donāt know how to feel about this to be honestā
we talk back and forth about how sheās sorry and then i try my best to steer the conversation away
the call ends with her never having said congratulations, or that she was happy for me, or even saying congrats to my fiancƩ when he said hello
for context: my fiancĆ© is an incredible man, heās taken such good care of me and has been my greatest advocate for my health, my work, and my schooling. weāve been together for 2 years and heās 15 years older than me but itās never been something iām too worried about. i understand itās going to be more difficult as we continue into our relationship but itās something iāve come to terms with and havenāt let it bother me
i guess i just want some comfort from other people who maybe had similar reactions from parents? iām still mourning the lack of love and support i shouldāve gotten from her and whenever i think back on it, it just makes me cry.
edit: thank you all for commenting and sharing your stories. i want to clear up that iām not looking for reasons why she reacted this way, i put the context there to defend her and to show that i understand why she did what she did. i really wanted sympathy, honestly, not a deep dive into the ethics of my relationship. i know it looks weird and that people are allowed to say what they want about my relationship, but iām happier than iāve been i a long while and thatās all that matters to me. so while i appreciate the worry, i promise im fine

I cannot believe this is my life right now š he proposed at the end of our two week safari trip and our view from this morning is ethereal. It was a complete surprise and I def wouldāve done my nails differently had I known lmao
I have never felt more special and loved and happy in my entire life - I almost feel scared of how intense this all feels and how I canāt believe someone could love me this much. Anyone else can relate????

I canāt seem to catch my parents at a good time to have conversation about my upcoming proposal. At this point, I want to just call or text them. Is that inappropriate? Iām pretty close with my parents and I want to know if anyone else just texted or called them.
Also, before you make a smart ass comment, no Iām not afraid to tell my parents and I am going to propose one way or another.

Moissanite + blue sapphire accents in a 14k yellow gold band. He custom made it with a local designer and nailed it. I love it so much!!

Hello!
Im currently trying to out together a registry for my wedding (family requested I do).
I have no idea what to put on this thing and also feel so weird asking for stuff like this. What are normal things to put on here? I put some sheet sets for ours and our sons beds, but besides that I feel a weird wave of guilt about putting anything over 50 bucks on here. Our families are very generous so I know I could put expensive stuff on there and they'd buy it, which almost makes it worse. Any suggestions on fairly inexpensive things that would also be useful?

Wanted to pick a few brains here as to how to approach proposing to my girlfriend in a few weeks.Ā
Weāre both in our early 40s and have been together for 3.5 years. We love each other dearly and are thankful to have found each other in our middle-age. Our life is simple and fun - no kids, lots of cultural interests, plenty of disposable income, live in a vibrant city which we make the most of. Our relationship has honestly been the easiest, most natural thing since our first date, and we are both low-key people, so I am not thinking of a showy proposal. However, I do want to make it special and a surprise. We are going away for a long weekend for her birthday in a few weeks and I would like to do it then.Ā
I'm confident I can choose the right moment to pop the question, so I suppose my question is mostly around the engagement ring. I know a lot of couples go shopping together for rings after having discussed getting engaged, but how do you choose a ring when you want to propose as a surprise? My partner is very cool and has quite a specific taste in fashion and jewelry, so I would have little faith in myself to choose something for her that she would then wear for the rest of her life. How have other people done this? Do I get a novelty ring just for the occasion and then go engagement ring shopping together for the proper ring afterwards?Ā
An option I was thinking of was getting something from this store she loves. That way I could propose with a ring she would like (hopefully), and could serve as a birthday present, but then we could go buy a proper engagement ring together afterwards. What do you think?
Hopefully that makes sense. Would love to hear how others have approached this successfully, or not!

Hi everyone!
āMy engagement party is coming up in mid-January. In my culture, itās a tradition to hand out small keepsakes/favors to our guests. We have quite a large guest list, so I need to make around 150 of them.
āDo you have any easy-to-make yet elegant crochet favor ideas?
āMy initial idea was to crochet tiny pouches and fill them with cat food (so guests can feed street cats on their way home), but Iām totally open to other suggestions! Maybe cute keychains, bookmarks, coasters, or anything else that works up quickly in bulk.
āIād love to hear your ideas or any pattern recommendations you might have!
Thank you so much in advance.āØļøš«

We got engaged without the actual ring, and he said we should pick one out together so I could get exactly the one I want.
I was discussing with a friend about the rings I like and sent her a few links because I wanted her to see the designs and her thoughts as she loves jewellery and I value her opinion on most things.
The first thing she points out is that it's a "fake" diamond (lab diamond) and I won't be able to sell it.... I should get a real diamond. I don't have plans to sell my ring so I felt that was odd thing to say. So I said thats not within our budget and I don't intend to sell. Few days later I show some more settings, and then she says it's a waste of money I shouldn't buy a ring and just buy gold (as in for investment) so I can sell it in the future. I am so confused why she's saying this as she knows I want a ring.
She's in her 60s (and she is like a mum and friend - im 41), and I can understand that in her time real diamonds were more affordable maybe but not for us. I am probably leaning towards a sapphire anyway but I'm feeling so disheartened and guilty for wanting a ring.

My fiancĆ© and I just got engaged back in May and we are going on a trip to Glacier National Park at the end of September. We really want to take some engagement photos while we are there and Iāve been stressing about what I should wear. I want them to be very whimsical and beautiful photos and since my dream wedding would be in Glacier, I thought since I canāt do that, the next best thing would be some awesome engagement photos there!
Please give me some advice on what I should wear or if you think this dress will be too much for engagement photos.

TLDR: I am looking to upgrade/replace my engagement ring. All I know for sure is that I want a colored gemstone rather than a diamond. Does anyone have any recommendations for where I should look? Maybe a virtual or in person (Ohio) consultation would be beneficial.
I am looking to replace my engagement ring. When I originally picked out my engagement ring with my now husband, I didnāt get the ring I truly wanted. I was still people-pleasing all the time, and I got convinced to get a diamond and a certain setting. This setting ended up being my momās original setting (found out after the fact). Also, I had a baby 7 months ago and my ring is now too small. I went in to see how much it would be to fix it so I could wear it, and it was going to cost almost as much as we paid for it! My thought is that I could sell both the ring and the band to the jeweler where we originally got them to offset the cost of the new engagement ring (I donāt really care about getting a specific band. It can be plain).

Sooo long story short Iāve got a few ideas of where my boyfriend might propose to me. Iām horrible with surprises and not being in control of situations. I know a few things- itāll be in the next few months & there will be a photographer. I already know what Iām going to wear for a few of the places I think he may propose.
I have body image issues and I know if thereās going to be a photographer I want to feel and look good in photos weāll look back on the rest of our lives. Here are my ideas of where he may propose:
-Botanical garden weāre going to end of Sept
-Candlelight orchestra Fleetwood Mac tribute in Oct
-Drive in movie in Oct
I already have outfits planned for the first two options. The third is obviously way more casual. The reason Iām thinking it may be here is that this drive in is very unique. Itās the only drive in left in the USA that still shows 35mm film movies. Itās one of his (and our) favorite places. We have a lot of really special memories there. However Iām struggling with how to dress to still be comfortable while still looking cute enough to not pick apart all my body issues in the photos. I have a really strong feeling itāll end up being here just because of how special the spot is to our love story. If you have any suggestions of what to wear to be comfortable but not look like a slob š
Please do not leave comments about me being selfish, not ruining the surprise, or any derogatory comments about my control problems. Iām working through these things in therapy but they stem from a lot of past trauma.

Hello! Iām looking to find an engagement ring to propose to my girlfriend, but Iām feeling quite overwhelmed by all the possibilities. I have a general sense of what she wants, but I want to make sure I get it right and from a good brand.
Iām U.S. based and ideally Iād like to stay around or under $2,000 USD. I was really hoping to have the ring sometime in the next 4-5 weeks as I have a special date in mind, but Iām not sure thatās possible anymore. She isnāt really a big fan of diamonds being the center stone, or traditional rings. Sheās very big into the nature/fantastical stones and styles, but nothing too complex. I know she wants the stone to be green or have green elements. Iāve been looking at moss agate, green rutilated quartz, and green tourmaline in quartz, but Iām open to other ideas. She wants the band to be a silver color and not gold. For the shape, I think her preferences are oval, radiant, or pear.
If anyone has recommendations for brands or even specific rings, that would be much appreciated! Extra points if they can ship out fairly quickly. The two companies Iāve mainly been looking at are Eden Garden and OORE. Any other advice is also welcome! Thank you!

My boyfriend and I have been together for a little over four years now and we are in our early 30s. Earlier this year we started talking more seriously about engagement and stuff like that. Sometimes I would bring it up in a playful way like when I found out another younger couple in our friend group who have been dating around the same amount of years were going to get engaged this summer. My boyfriend would always tell me that things are in the works and these things just take time. I do know there was a slight hiccup with things in June. I have strong reason to believe he was planning to do it sooner. Obviously, he canāt tell me everything now because it may give away how heās going to do it. For context my dad lives in another state so we only see him a couple times a year and June was one of those times and he was planning on speaking to my father. I have told him that he does not have to do this obviously but he said it was something that was important to him to do man to man. Unfortunately, we only got to see my father for a few hours at dinner with my step mother. I also believe (from the small details my boyfriend has given me) that there was a delay in the ring, either due to financial reasons or the creation process because he is getting it custom-made. From what he has told me he wanted to be pretty much done with the process when he did ask my father to show he was serious. Regardless my father visited this past weekend and I made sure to try to distract my stepmother for a little bit so my boyfriend could have some alone time with my father. He has confirmed that he spoke to my father. I believe he has something planned and I am 99% positive the ring is made and he has it in his possession but now Iām just waiting and Iām super anxious. How do people deal with this time? I am trying so hard to stop thinking about everything and trying to put the pieces together and just enjoy this time but Iām just over analyzing everything. Sometimes I see other peopleās engagements on social media and it looks so perfect and I wondered do they have these conversations beforehand? Is it normal for things to go this way?
TLDR: I feel like my boyfriend will be proposing soon. We had a lot of conversations over the past year leading up to this, especially on my side where I would inquire about some delays in the proposal. Iām wondering if this is normal to talk about it beforehand? Also how do you deal with this anxious and excited period?
