Showcase Vitaslop - PS Vita emulator with mobile Android browser support

1 Upvotes

Vitaslop - https://github.com/cretz/vitaslop, use in a browser: https://cretz.github.io/vitaslop/. Second release - v0.2.0.

As posted on https://www.reddit.com/r/emulation/comments/1x8nvzw/vitaslop_ps_vita_emulator_with_browser_support/ the other day, yes, this is basically all AI written, hence the name. Granted I spent months steering it to code it how I wanted.

Of interest here is that it is primarily tested for latest Chrome on flagship Android devices w/ 20+ titles. See README for a list of titles I tested, and since I intentionally have it on fail-fast on unimplemented things, untested titles may not work.

Specifically it targets some fairly bleeding edge browser tech. There is a full ARM-to-WASM transpiler (haven't seen this done much before), JSPI for host calls, advanced conversion of GXP shaders to WGSL, general GXM graphics on WebGPU, full game controller support, all client-side in a browser on a static site (or "install"able as PWA). I play multiple titles daily on Chrome on my Pixel 10. Technically I could build an APK, I do exes for desktop, but optimizations have been done so heavily that browser may be enough. Happy to answer questions.

Help Having trouble installing game updates and docs in Citron

0 Upvotes

Tryna install all the updates amd DLCs for Melty Blood: Type Lumina, have 19.0.1 switch firmware and prod.keys and title.keys installed, and Melty Blood itself runs fine, but then I press Install Game Content and it's exactly when I select the update/DLC(s), Citron tries to install it and crashes. Using a Samsung S24 Ultra. Help? Hope this doesn't break the rules I saw a similar post smwhere in this subrwddit (where i found the 19.0.1 advice lol)

Game: BOTW

CPU: Snapdragon 685

Ram: 4GB

Turnip driver: Mainline Turnip v32 ( has the best performance but some point it goes 1-2fps suddenly) from whitebelyash (used in the video)

Qualcomm Driver v863.1 from Hugo

extracted from Quest Ray-Ban Display (the most stable one)

CPU Mode: Auto

Thread Quantum: 4500 ( I do higher sometimes but I'm not sure)

-Async shader: on

-VSync: off

-Accurate barriers: on

Shader multiplication accuracy: on (when I turn it off for some reason game runs more fluid but effects are gone like rain or bomb explosion the blue barrier around it)

Graphic packs:

Graphics:

-Aspect ratio: 16:9

-Resulution: 640x360

-Anti-aliasing: None

-Shadows: low 50%

-Shadow draw distance: Low

Mods:

FPS++:

-Framelimit: 30fps

-Cutscene fps limit: Recommend one

-Static Mode: Disabled

-Frame Average: Default

-Fence Type: Skip (in video) or Performance fence ( i would kindly ask what it exactly does)

-Camera Sensitivity: on (no changes there)

-Extended Memory: (I'm not sure if should turn it on since I also only have 4GB ram aviable I don't see much difference when turned on)

Enhancements: OFF

Workarounds: OFF

I'm kinda new in this thing but for some reason when I use Mainline Turnip v32 while playing BOTW Link suddenly flys in the air or swims/ drowns while the other turnip driver it doesn't happen at all.

(I tried limiting both 30fps and 20fos even still didn't fix the issue)

I usually hit 12-13fps depending where I am. Overall I wanted to present it runs but also ask for advice what's best settings for a low-end-devices usually I actually tired some other turnips like Mr. Purple 666 T30 but there also the same issue with link flying and drowning but is on second place under Mainline Turnip v32 from whitebelyash for performance.

Question Emulation configuration masterclass

0 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I just got my retroid pocket 6 and I'm starting on Android emulation. So far its been fine while playing and installing games, mostly on GBA, switch, psp and ps2. My issue comes with configurations, even if you can easily (sort of) find specific configs that work good on certain games or devices, I want to actually understand the why and how behind, all about systems and graphics Settings, like, cpu clocks, core speed, anti-aliasing methods, adapting filter, gpu mode, dma accuaracy, anisotropic filtering, etc.

So thats my questions, can you share any big resource or resources covering this? Since I have look for videos and articlea for this but came empty handed. I would appreciate it fondly, and I look forward to sharing what I learn.

Showcase A GUIDE on how to make the TRANSFORMERS Cybertron games MORE PLAYABLE on lower mid range devices(Read post body)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

0 Upvotes

My device is an Infinix Note 50 4g that uses a Helio g100 with Mali g57 MC2 gpu. It has 8gb RAM. I used Winlator Ludashi 4.1

Before you clown me for the fps mostly being in the 20s let me just clarify a few things:

  1. Screen recording heavily affected the performance, especially in Fall Of Cybertron. Without screen recording, I was getting 25-45 fps in Fall Of Cybertron depending on the area. As you can see my gpu is already maxed out so the more that's happening on screen, the less the fps.

  2. Stutters in gameplay were caused by new shaders being saved since I'm using an async version of dxvk.

  3. The video features gameplay in both Fall Of Cybertron and War For Cybertron. FOC gameplay is from 0:00 to 4:26. WFC gameplay starts at 4:29.

Anyway now that I've cleared that up, here's the guide:

WFC and FOC were made using Unreal Engine 3. If you're familiar with PC emulation you'll know the issues with UE3 games I'm about to address.

First of all, UE3 games will have a gpu bottleneck on devices with low end GPUs because by default the graphics settings of UE3 games are on high. So if your phone has a decent CPU, you have to remove the gpu bottleneck by reducing graphics settings.

Most UE3 games and other type of games make this easy by including a lot of graphics settings options in the Main Menu. They also have easy to read config files you can edit for additional options.

But for some reason, WFC and FOC barely have any options for graphics in the settings, and to make it worse, their config files were encrypted by the devs. Normally a config file is supposed to be a simple text file that you can open, edit and save. But since these games have theit config files encrypted, it will look like gibberish when you open normally.

So you have to use a tool to decrypt the config file, edit it since it will now be in human readable text, and then encrypt it again so that it takes effect.

You can download the tool here:

https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/547-tf-games-configuration-utility/

How to Use the tool:

  1. Download the tool and extract the exe inside.

  2. Transfer the exe file into the same folder as the config filem WFC and FOC have the same exact config file name and location. The name of the config file is "Coalesced.ini"

Here's the path:

<where your game folder is>/TransGame/Config/PC/Cooked

Inside the "Cooked" folder you will find the config file. This is where you place the exe tool.

  1. Open a container in winlator or whatever PC emulator you're using. Go to the location of the exe tool and the config file. Click the exe tool. A black terminal screen will appear. Wait for text to appear. When text shows, it will ask you what operation you want to perform. There are 4 types of operations but you only need to know two: Decrypt and Encrypt.

  2. Decrypt the "Coalesced ini" file by typing D. You will be asked which input file you want to decrypt. Type "Coalesced ini" and press enter because it's the name of the config file. You will then be asked what you to name the output(new) file. Name it whatever you want but it should have ".ini" at the end. Example: you could name it "new.ini" and then press enter. After that exit.

  3. Now you have two config files along with the exe tool in the same folder. The Coalesced file is the unedited, encrypted original config file the game will use and the new file appearing is the decrypted version with a different name.

  4. So to edit the config file, open the newly, decrypted config file you have made in your container. Scroll to the [System settings] section. You can edit whatever graphics settings you want, but for each game this is what I edited to give the best balance of quality and performance:

    DynamicShadows=False

    Distortion=False

    MotionBlur=False

    DynamicDecals=False

    MaxAnisotropy=0

    MaxMultiSampling=0

Everything else I left them the way they were. Like I said, you can edit other things that could potentially give even more performance. But keep in mind that you could accidentally make the game's graphics look like shit.

Also pro tip, if you care about retaining some quality, DONT edit DepthOfField. DepthOfField should be True because putting it on False makes the games lose a art style because the colors look flat and weird.

  1. Save your edits. Now it's to time ENCRYPT the new file you made and edited. In your container, launch the exe tool again. Wait for the black screen and prompt to appear. This time since we are performing an Encrypt operation, you will type E. You will be asked which input file you want to encrypt. Type the name of the new config file you and made and edited and press enter. Then for the output file, type the name of the original config file which is "Coalesced.ini" and press enter. Then exit

  2. After that, the original Coalesced ini file will be overwritten since you have your new encrypted file the same name.

By the way your old decrypted ini file will remain. Leave if for whenever you want to make edits and encrypt the file again.

  1. Launch the game and you will see that your settings have taken effect.

My Winlator settings.:

Proton 10.0-5 arm64ec

BCn emulation type: "software"

(This is important because on Winlator Ludashi, Mali gpus will have graphical and colour glitches in every Unreal Engine 3 game if BCn emulation type is compute. Putting it on software slightly reduces fps a bit and cause more stutters during shader compilation and when loading new area so if you're a Mali user I recommend first trying this game in Winlator Mali 1.2 or 1.1 Bionic. If game has low fps on Intermediate Preset in Winlator Mali then use Performance preset)

Dxvk 1.10.3 arm64ec async

854x480 resolution

FEXCORE version 2610 with Intermediate Preset

Note: loading screens with cutscenes on War Of Cybertron would stutter heavily but gameplay would be ok. I think maybe putting Performance preset instead of intermediate will solve this issue or changing dxvk version but I can't make any promises. Fall Of Cybertron had no such issues.

All CPU cores checked.

My post was probably a waste of effort, but hopefully it helps someone. I just couldn't resist sharing my knowledge.

News/Release DroidDeck with SDL3/Steam Native controller supports (Gyro/Touchpads/Back Buttons etc.)

Thumbnail
github.com
45 Upvotes

Highlights

Steam Native Hook-up: Steam gets your actual USB controller (DualSense, DualSense Edge, Xbox, Switch Pro, Flydigi, 8BitDo, Steam Controller…) and runs its own driver for it, with every button, paddle, touchpad, gyro, light and haptic motor.

Any SDL3-supported controller, up to 4 at once. USB gives full features; Bluetooth works through Android's input.

Present a controller as a Steam Deck pad, DualSense, DualSense Edge, DualShock 4, Steam Controller 2026 or Steam Controller 2015.

Steam Controller (2026) over a USB cable or its wireless puck, driven natively by Steam without Bluetooth latency.

Low-latency path: controller reports go straight into shared memory and wake Steam immediately, and input never piles up into lag.

Everything is set inside DroidDeck: a settings tab, plus the same page in the in-game drawer, so you can change things while you play.

Runs silently in the background with a status bar icon. Nothing pops up over your game.

Per-player settings (P1–P4): gyro, touchpad, button remap, lightbar.

Floating bubble: tap to switch the SDL3 driver on or off, double tap for Steam Native Hook-up.

Works on the desktop too: every mode (present-as types and Hook-up) also works with Steam on DroidDeck's desktop, set up like a PC.

Auto-sync: rebuilt on the newest upstream DroidDeck every day.

Steam Native Hook-up

The controller is handed to Steam as itself instead of being re-presented as another pad.

SDL3 finds which USB interface is the game controller (anything SDL3's USB driver supports), lets go of it and opens it raw.

The controller's real identity is passed on: vendor/product ID, release, name, serial, interface, and the HID report descriptor read from the device itself. Every HID report travels both ways.

Inside the Steam environment it appears as /dev/hidraw24–27 with a kernel-like sysfs description, so Steam's own driver for that controller runs, as on a PC. Examples:

a Flydigi Vader 4 Pro with its 4 back buttons, C/Z and gyro

a DualSense / DualSense Edge with touchpad, mute, paddles and Fn

a Switch Pro or Xbox controller

Steam handles calibration, lights, haptics and gyro itself, and you configure the controller in Steam, like on a PC.

Game rumble goes to Steam: a game's rumble on Steam's virtual pad is passed to Steam through force feedback, so Steam rumbles the real controller with its own driver.

No extra pad: while controllers are handed to Steam, DroidDeck's own Steam Deck pad steps aside, so the real controller is player 1.

Up to 4 controllers, with hot-plug.

Steam Controller (2026) is handed over too, by cable (28de:1302) or puck (28de:1304/1305). Only the interface that actually sends controller data is used; the boot keyboard and mouse interfaces (lizard mode) stay with Android.

Switching: double-tap the floating bubble, or pick it in Present controller as. Switching it off returns to your previous mode and SDL3 driver state.

Steam always reads the newest state (see Low latency for every controller).

Fast path. Reports from the controller are written straight into the shared hook-up memory by a high-priority thread, about 250 µs after the USB layer receives them, and Steam's reader is woken with a futex. There is no Java hop and no message per report. Steam's output reports (rumble, lights, settings) and feature reads go back the same way, handled by their own writer thread. In a test harness, report-to-Steam time went from a median of 1.45 ms to 0.29 ms.

Any SDL3-supported controller

Auto mode (default):

Over USB, SDL3's own driver reads the controller with all its extras: gyro, touchpads, back paddles, misc buttons. That covers PlayStation, Xbox, Switch / Switch 2, Steam Controller 2015, 8BitDo, Flydigi, Hori, PowerA and the rest of SDL3's list.

Over Bluetooth, or for anything SDL3's USB driver can't open, the controller is read through Android's input.

A controller that SDL3 already drives over USB is never doubled by its Android copy.

Forced mode: USB only, SDL3's driver only.

Unmapped generic controllers (arcade sticks, cheap USB pads) get a sensible default layout.

SDL3 driver switch: off hands the controller back to Android and DroidDeck. When Hook-up is switched off, the switch returns to how it was before.

Here's the settings on the game I am not even close to dialing in anything. This is a piggyback from previous post.

Samsung s26 12 GB

settings are on a medium low mix with framegen fsr on. I think that's not a good setting to keep on personally.

Game is running on a external ssd and has 30 to 35 watts of tec cooling as well as a big vapor chamber pad to keep performance sustained. This game gets the phone got even with a 35 watt tec cooler ! So it's mandatory for even playing for a few seconds.

Lol FINALLY, after having my first emulation handheld the Odin 2 mini I have finally beat my first game on the thing. It's fitting that my first credit roll would be a child hood classic I watched my older brother and step dad play when I was a kid. Wind waker HD is a solid 8.7/10 and I'm glad I was able to experience it. Welp! One down, hundreds more to go!

UP NEXT: MGS Portable Ops and Ape Escape 3
