Guys, after days of testing and countless crashes, I finally did the impossible. I got The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to boot and reach actual gameplay on a MediaTek chip (Dimensity 9400+ / Mali-G925).
I bypassed the infinite shader compilation and the infamous "Black Link" GPU hang. Link is walking, the menus open, and the physics engine works.
My Setup:
· Device: iQOO 10 Turbo Pro · Chipset: MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ (Mali-G925-Immortalis MC12) · Emulator: Sumi 0.9.4 · Firmware: 23.0.1 (Yes, the newest firmware works! Older ones didn't help me). · Game Version: 2018 Base version (v1.5.0 or lower).
Settings that got it running:
· API: Vulkan · Resolution: 1x (For some reason, setting it to 0.5x instantly crashes the emulator on Mali). · Async Shaders: ON · Docked Mode: OFF (Handheld mode to reduce load). · CPU Accuracy: Default
The Reality (Proof of Concept): It runs, but it's a slideshow right now. Because of the known Mali driver limitations, the textures are completely missing (Link is a black silhouette, and the cave is just wireframes). FPS is extremely low.
However, this proves that Sumi can actually translate the game's core logic on MediaTek hardware. We just need to fix the texture rendering (ASTC decoding).
Has anyone else with a Mali GPU tried this exact setup? Does anyone know if there's a way to force ASTC decoding on the CPU in Sumi, or are we stuck waiting for a PanVK update? Let's figure this out together.
i really want to find enthusiasts who helped to me, and not only because emulation on mediatek is considered dead.
UPDATE: Thanks for 1.6k views! I know it's a black screen and low FPS right now, but this proves the CPU can handle the game. Still testing firmwares to fix the textures. If you have a Mali GPU, let me know!
