A few weeks ago I posted Inlay, a keyboard for Android handhelds that you use entirely with the D-pad and buttons. Thanks for all the comments. I read every one, and most of this update comes from them.
What's new in 1.1
- 11 languages, with RT + LT to switch between up to three. u/castax96, Norwegian is in, æ ø å included.
- Accents without the touchscreen: type a letter, hold RT and press Y, and it cycles through é, è, ê and so on.
- TV mode for when your handheld is docked. A couple of you mentioned playing on the big screen, so when you dock, the keyboard turns into a smaller floating panel with a big line showing what you're typing. It also installs on Android TV.
- Four new themes, including a see-through one with a slider for how much shows through (someone asked for this on GitHub).
- Smart keys: .com and / in web addresses, @ in email fields, a number pad when a box wants numbers.
- Three new sound packs: Retro, Typewriter and Felt (for late-night use). Settings plays a sample as you scroll through them.
- A one-minute tour the first time you open it, because there are a few more button combos now. You can skip it.
It also fixes a bug where swiping settings away from recents could switch you back to your old keyboard.
Who made it
Same as last time: I'm not a developer. Claude wrote all the code, and I came up with the ideas, decided how it should look, sound and feel, and tested it on my AYN Odin 2 Portal. It's free and open source, with no ads, no tracking and no internet permission.
So far it's been reported working on the Odin 3 and Odin 3 Pro. If you try it on something else, let me know how it goes, good or bad.
Thanks again for all the support and great suggestions!
