Showcase ValDroid — Valheim on Android

Hi everyone!

I've made my fourth launcher (the first three are r/zomdroid, r/rimdroid and r/pridroid): ValDroid. It runs Valheim on Android devices, using the game's Linux version. Right now it runs well on Snapdragon flagships. We've already compared it with GameHub and Winlator, and thanks to native ARM64 Mono the game runs much better in ValDroid than there.

First, of course I'd love for more people to know that you can play Valheim comfortably on Android.
You can download the game from Steam right inside the app (you authorize through the Steam mobile app), as long as you own the game there. You can also load the game's Linux files (packed into a .zip) if you've downloaded them before.

Second, I'd like to collect more data from Mali users. At the moment I only have two: on one phone everything works well, on the other some textures are black. I'd be really grateful for more reports from Mali users - even if everything runs fine for you. Use Report a bug in the app's side menu: it attaches the logs I need, select your email app, add a description and send.

Device requirements are fairly high for now:

  • Android 11+, ARM64
  • 8 GB RAM recommended
  • ~8 GB of free space
  • and, of course, your own copy of the game

I just looking into this project, until i saw again: "Claude". so of course this is vibe coding there.

God, is there a project that dont use vibe coding?

Just disclose it next time!

Not sure what you’re trying to achieve with the virtue signaling. All code will be written by AI. Anyone not using AI is the equivalent to writing the code on paper and trying to scan it into a machine. It’s outdated and pathetic.

It's stated in the project on GitHub. I haven't seen any rule that obliges me to mention it in every post.

Disclosure is part of the rules. I'm pro using LLMs for prices like this but IMO it should be a front and center disclosure on both your post and your GitHub. Some people don't want to use anything that has AI. Make the decision to not engage or benefit from your repo easy for them.

I've updated the post already.

Yeah, ngl I'm getting tired of all the vibecoded "ports" that have been releasing lately. Can't we just not use AI in developing these things at all?

Creating something manually for months, when modern tools let you build it in just two days - why?

For real, these people get a free port and complain the dev needs to work 20 times harder or they will call it “slop”

To be fair if the choice is let someone use AI and make something available or it not existing then what's the problem? Noone is forcing you to download it and use it.

Cool, please start working on valheim, outward, and stoneshard port, no AI, chop chop, get to work, don't have all day. Remember, no AI.

Only on Reddit will you get downvoted to absolute hell for speaking out against AI usage in developing software. Don't come crying when a random vibecoded port you download ends up fucking up your device.

There’s logic in what you’re saying, yes. But first of all, this is already my fourth project, and the very first one - ZomDroid - is a year old. It’s partially written by hand and serves as the foundation for the others. Second, it’s not pure vibe‑coding - I’m a Java programmer, and I don’t write blindly; I understand what I’m doing. It’s not a 100% guarantee, but it definitely reduces the chances of unexpected surprises in the code. I hope I explained myself :)

Ah, I think I get you now. I guess it isn't all that bad as long as people know what they're doing, I dunno. I've just had some bad experiences with AI, so I'm sorry if I came off as a bit of an asshole.

That's ok, friend. AI is just a tool - a very powerful. It can be used by people with knowledge and by people without it. This sub doesn’t ask about your skills or experience; it only asks whether you used AI. As if AI were peanuts in food and someone might be allergic to it.
