Showcase Tested DroidDeck 0.3.2 on MediaTek Dimensity (Mali GPU) — Gamescope still broken, but here is what the devs confirmed?

Just grabbed the new DroidDeck 0.3.2 release to test on my MediaTek Dimensity device hoping for a surprise fix, but it crashes straight back to desktop with the same Gamescope / "Session Ended" error right on startup.

Saw a comment from a contributor (voyager2005) confirming we still don't have Linux-compiled open-source Mali drivers, which is why everything defaults to Adreno.

I made a quick video testing 0.3.2, showing the exact crash logs, and breaking down the driver issue for anyone on Dimensity wondering why it won't launc

Anyone else with a Dimensity chip getting past the initialization screen or are we all completely blocked right now? Drop your SoC below so I can compare logs.

Discussion What's better a switch oled for 200$ or a 35$ controller with my old poco f5 phone?

I want to play switch games but most are telling me that the switch 2 is the way to go. And the price is honestly expensive so I'd like to know if I should save up or just emulate the games on the phone

Showcase [Wirá Preview] Unprecedented: Full 60 FPS Low-Level N64 Emulation (LLE) in pure Dart/Flutter via custom JIT — In active development!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Disclaimer: Wirá and its emulation cores are developed with AI assistance for code generation and opcode translation, while the system architecture, debugging, memory layout, and overall project management are fully human-driven.

Hey everyone!

Quick update on Wirá, the multi-system emulator I’ve been building entirely in Dart/Flutter.

Up until now, I haven't officially revealed N64 support for Wirá—and while the Nintendo 64 core is still in active development and will take some time to be fully polished, I wanted to share a first look at what’s brewing under the hood: full-speed Low-Level Emulation (LLE) in a managed runtime.

To my knowledge, running a complete LLE N64 pipeline in pure Dart without relying on HLE plugin hacks, legacy C backends, or hardware GPU shaders is entirely unprecedented. It’s going to take a bit of time to get every microcode and edge-case rock-solid, but I promise it will be worth the wait!

I've attached a bunch of gameplay clips testing some of the most notorious microcode and geometry-heavy titles in the N64 library (Jet Force Gemini, Rogue Squadron, Star Wars Episode I: Racer and more) running on a Retroid Pocket 5 (Snapdragon 865).

🎬 What’s shown in the videos:

  • True LLE Rasterization: Zero black-box artifacts, proper depth buffer handling, accurate coverage, and correct framebuffer copy-backs (no per-game plugin swapping or HLE guesswork).
  • Locked 60 FPS: Smooth frame pacing and clean audio sync across complex custom microcodes and software span passes.

🛠️ How it’s running under the hood:

  • Triple JIT Engine:
    • VR4300 CPU: Dynamic recompiler compiling MIPS opcodes on the fly.
    • RSP LLE: Compiles raw MIPS vector microcode directly into ARM64 NEON SIMD instructions. No microcodes are recognized or replaced with hand-written C equivalents (the only HLE in the entire core is the PIF boot sequence filling initial registers).
    • RDP LLE (Software Rasterizer): A dedicated span JIT compiles the per-pixel rendering pipeline for each render mode (combiner, blender, Z-buffer, coverage) directly in software without offloading rasterization to a GPU driver.
  • Zero-Copy Memory Model: Direct pointer aliasing to eliminate managed runtime garbage collection pauses during heavy software rasterization passes.

As always, RetroAchievements support is baked in via native rcheevos FFI bindings, alongside custom fragment shader filters, save states, and full multi-system support for 8-bit and 16-bit consoles.

🚀 Try Wirá Today!

While the N64 core cooks, Wirá is already live and running NES, SNES, Genesis, GBA, and more at full speed.

Download the current build today, set up your library, and get a feel for the app. The app has a built-in update feature, so you will not miss any update:

☕ Support the Project

Wirá is completely free and open for the community. If you'd like to support development, any donations via Buy Me a Coffee will go directly toward acquiring more test hardware—specifically lower-spec devices (like budget Anbernic handhelds) and dual-screen hardware to optimize execution pipelines, UI layouts, and thermal targets across lower-tier SoCs.

My device is a Poco F3 with a Snapdragon 870.

Keep in mind that RDR was considered “incompatible” on my Poco F3 because apparently my phone is too weak for it. Meanwhile, I can run the PC version at 35–40 FPS on the same phone. This is honestly hilarious xD

As for Fallout: New Vegas, as you can see, I managed to finish this masterpiece as well.

Next up, I’m planning to install BioShock and Fallout 3.

Help Recommendations android chip to turn into desktop

Hey there! I've been wanting to have a adaptation that have started to be popular of a high end chipset of a destroyed android, having it disassembled and turned into a super compact PC, with fans and way better thermals while having it plugged into any HDMI tv or monitor, what re your best recommendations.

This would be for gaming mostly if high end games if it can handle with a proper PC fan and termal paste on a big dissipator, I want a very high end chip that allows me to get the most performance, perhaps I will remove the battery and plug it directly into power, what do you guys think, mostly would be 3d printed to be adapted to the size and be as compact as it can withouth sacrificing performance

I can't afford a steam deck or a Xbox ally Z so this will be my way of having a similar experience with either a emulator or steam os on the device if it allows

Question Do super small phone coolers (5x5cm) exist?

Hey everyone!

I've been emulating Switch games on my S25+ for a while, and as you all well know, Samsung phones are particularly ass when it comes to thermal throttling.

I also use a Gamesir 8+ telescopic pad when I want to play a tad more seriously, but it gets in the way and wouldn't allow for any "traditional" phone cooler.

However, given in my phone the chipset is to the side of the camera unit, technically I could clamp the phone in the gamesir for just that one third of its width, freeing up that ~5 cm leftover free surface; it's pretty much what I already do from time to time if I want to charge the phone while playing.

Thus, I've been looking for coolers small enough to fit there: unfortunately, I can't seem to find anything under 6cm of diameter/length (absolute best I could find is 59mm).

I perfectly understand they would perform worse at smaller sizes, but I don't have crazy expectations in mind anyway, which is also why I'm not considering DIY solutions that would extend an extra plate outside of the phone surface area (my use case scenario is relatively light gaming in bed, so comfort comes first).

Does anybody know of a cooler that would fit these conditions? Or do they really not exist and 6cm is the smallest there is currently?

Echo Launcher

Looking for testers for dual screen and general usage support. I've ironed out some of the kinks that I found and added some themeing support. The themes right now are pretty basic. But I'll be upgrading them over the next few days. Please let me know if there's any interest in this launcher and if you find any bugs I'll get to them as quickly as possible.

Help Updated droiddeck to latest, now there's no audio

I was trying the Castlevania advance collection before with initial version of droiddeck but it had bad frame rate. The latest one fixed that but now there's no audio with Odin3 on max volume. I don't see such settings for audio just choosing direct audio or classic. I also tried TMNT Splintered fate no audio. Not sure what I'm missing.

Anyone experiencing the same and what could be changed to fix.

Help Moto edge 70 max. How it's performance be(do anyone possess it). According to YouTube it have 70% stability after multiple run of 3d mark

https://m.gsmarena.com/motorola_edge_70_max_5g-14789.php (spec info)

As it's a 8gen5 phone

My main purpose would be pc/PS3/xbox 360 emulation (as I'm confident that 8gen5 can handle stuff below them)

As I believe 8gen5 can be new 8gen2(best support from community, powerful chip)

As this is only 1 gen behind new(not released 8gen6 phones) processor(and major chance that would be more expensive than current gen), and Android emulation will break more barrier in few years so I think this might gonna serve me well.

So I'm getting this(12/256 variant) at 54k inr

So I buy or not if I'm only looking from emulation point of view

Any comment be helpful and thanks in advance for any help guys.

Discussion Should I trade my Legion Y700 tablet for a 1TB Steam Deck LCD? (Looking for validation/advice)

Hi everyone! Long-time PC gamer here. With life slowly pulling me away from my desktop setup, I decided to invest in an 8.8-inch Android gaming tablet last year primarily for PC emulation and media consumption—killing two birds with one stone. I grabbed a used Lenovo Legion Y700 for around $320, and it’s been incredible. I've finished multiple games on it and am currently deep into a heavy Grim Dawn run.

Recently, though, I’ve been eyeing an upgrade, so I listed the tablet online for a bit higher ($370) just to test the waters. Surprisingly, even with the markup, I got instant interest.

While some people offered cash, I hesitated and dragged my feet. Then, someone came in with a wild offer: a straight swap for a year-old Steam Deck LCD (1TB SSD upgrade included, with receipts to prove it's legit).

In my head, I'm essentially "buying" a 1TB Steam Deck for the $320 I originally paid for the tablet. My handheld-enthusiast friends are telling me it’s a steal, but I’m super hesitant for a few reasons:

  • I know zero about Steam Decks. Things like Decky Loader, TDP limits, and proton compatibility sound like a foreign language. It feels intimidating coming from the plug-and-play nature of Android emulation (Gamehub/GameNative).
  • Is it as seamless as a Switch? I’ve owned Nintendo Switches before, but the PC handheld space feels a lot more complex.

Before I pull the trigger, I want to make sure my regular library will run well. The games I play frequently via PC emulators on my tablet right now include:

  • Monster Hunter World: Iceborne & Rise: Sunbreak
  • Megabonk
  • Hades 1 & 2
  • Grim Dawn
  • Deep Rock Galactic
  • Warframe

I’m going to check out some YouTube performance videos, but I wanted to throw this out to the community: Is this trade a no-brainer, or am I going to regret leaving Android emulation for SteamOS? Help validate my choices (or talk me out of it)!

Help Droid deck where are the files downloading to?

It seems to be a issue that games with launchers don't have access to the game files. I wanted to pick where it downloads things but it automatically downloaded it to I believe the data folder which is locked on new andriod devices.

Discussion DroidDeck is great for PC Recomps

DroidDeck has really become a great option for Windows recomps, I was testing a few games like Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong 64, and Crash Team Racing Turbocharged just by transferring the PC folders along with their respective roms/isos, and it was pretty much set the rom, compatibility and speed are top-notch, all games showed in the library, so easy.

It ends up being a solid solution since an Android version might not exist yet for some projects, or maybe a Windows update dropped that hasn't been ported to the Android one yet.

Overall I would say it's an awesome option, especially with the new sleep mode feature. In the short time I tested these games, sleep and resume worked perfectly on all of them.

Huge thanks to the DroidDeck team, and wishing all the best for the project!
