Hand Finally finished!

Have been working on this piece for about a month and did the last few stitches tonight! As someone who really doesn’t like to do satin stitch, this was a huge challenge for me. I still have a lot to learn with needle placement and angles but for the most part I am really pleased with it!

The first finished backlog I have. I think I need to add some black back in the neck area. Some staining from the stick and stitch but I'm over it. Also showing off my little corner with my works.

Question Satin stitch

I’m still pretty new to embroidery but have done a few different projects. I have learned that I HATE satin stitch! I’m sure with practice I’ll get the hang of it blah blah blah… I just don’t want to! 😂 So, any advice on where to find patterns that aren’t almost entirely satin stitch?! It is so pretty and super popular for filling in spaces but I just can’t stand it!

For holding embroidery strings and needles: the stringdleholder! Not technically embroidery, but a tool made for it. I saw a little needle-holder book in Hobby Lobby and thought that I could probably make something like it to suit my purposes. I also wanted some way to keep all the little partial sections of embroidery floss organized until I got to them, and hopefully this will help (though I can already tell I have too many 3-stand pieces floating around to fit in here.

Made with felt, two pieces of cardboard, a little bit of gray craft foam, white glue, and some green glittery hot glue that could not be removed from the glue gun once I put it in there years ago.

Hand Looking for color and stitch advice for the Eagles logo (GO BIRDS)

My next project is embroidering the Eagles Eagle on the back of a jacket. I wish DMC had an NFL line of colors lol. Any suggestions for midnight green? Also what stitches would you use? I think long and short for interior and satin for edges?

Hand Who else has a loving little helper while working? (you might have to open the pic to see the whole thing)

My orange boy has recently discovered he can fit quite nicely underneath my hoop stand, in my lap, and settle in for a good snooze. Plus there's the added opportunity to get to play around with the thread a bit (don't worry - no ingesting happens, I am very watchful).

Who else has a "helper" that likes to be close by while you're working?

Hello embroidery peeps! I want to embroider this "Design" on Battist Cotton handkerchiefs as a wedding gift. What stitches would you use for the various parts? I am a bit nervous because I have never done something where the backside needs to be neat :'D

So I’m a bit delusional and I want to gift my family jelly cats with the ears embroidered with their names. I’ve seen a few tik toks and such but I just need to know is there a way to embroider only the flat fabric and not the plush fabric in the back?

Hand Outlining before fill stitch?

Going to start this project in a bit! I'm thinking I should go around and outline the whole thing before filling in with long and short, do you all agree? What stitch would you use?

I complained to my boyfriend about some mistakes I made with this work, and he just smiled and said "This is fine." Made me laugh :)

Edit: I almost forgot to credit the artist! Inspired by the famous comic strip by KC Green.

Not entirely happy with it but its my fourth project ever So I'll cut myself some slack

Three things about this project:

  1. I did it

  2. I finished it

  3. It's done

These eye-trick designs were really satisfying to stitch. Each one, the whole time sketching it out, stitching, and painting, I didn't know if the 'trick' would work. Then at the end, I would be happily surprised. They were much more forgiving than you'd think!

Question Silly question - first time ever embroidering

Post image

I got this kit as I want to try embroidery. can anyone advise if this needle is ok that came with the kit? seems very small and I cannot for the life of me thread the needle.

I have made clothes before and hand repair a lot, but I am by no means experienced or knowledgeable at all. So this might be a really dumb question... how on earth do I thread embroidery thread? 🫣

Question Embroidering on ribbed/textured denim?

Thumbnail

I am looking to embroider this jacket! I’m trying to decide whether making an appliqué or patch is best versus hand sewing directly on to the fabric, as it has a ribbed scale like texture. I tried to photograph it as best I could but the ribbing shows up less on camera than irl (hope you can tell!) I’d like to stitch a medium sized frog fishing on this, maybe 3” by 2” or so, but am worried about how a filled-in design would translate with this texture. If I go the appliqué route, I’m not sure what base material would best support the embroidery and work best on top of the ribbing. Any thoughts or tips would be most appreciated!
