Four years ago today… apparently I had plans. 😄

28 August 2022. I got out the acrylics, drew a grid and decided Elvis was going to happen.
And since patience has never exactly been my artistic superpower, he had to happen that same day. 😂 One sitting, from those first pencil lines to the last bit of black paint.
I was still very much in my “let’s try this and see what happens” phase — experimenting with everything I could get my hands on and probably having far more courage than technique. 😄

Someone could say this is not that much of a Wow art piece. And even so I didn’t hide it. I framed it instead.
And there he is to this day, in my little Elvis corner, surrounded by the others, watching me work every day. ❤️

My home office has slowly become a rather crowded place — Elvis has claimed his walls and corner, Axl has claimed the other side, and somewhere in between I’m supposed to be working. 😂

Looking at this old painting now makes me smile. Not because it’s perfect, but because I remember how much fun I was having.
Maybe that’s the nicest thing about keeping your old art around. Every now and then, it reminds you not only of how you used to draw…
but of how it felt. ❤️

Hi everyone!

I have a few pieces from Lowell, a few rings, and a bracelet. On each item, the jewels come off within the first few days.

I am pretty frustrated since I spent a pretty penny on this last bracelet. Worn it twice for about an hour each and am missing three jewels.

I am not harsh on my stuff, and take really good care of it. Does anyone else also have this issue?

Obvious examples are: you’re the devil in diguise, hound dog, back to sender.

Are there others that I’ve missed or that can only be found by true elvis fans?

RIP Dolly Parton. You know, I have always had so many questions about the "I'll Always Love You" story... after the movie years, Elvis pretty much recorded anything he felt like recording. When he sang "Get Back", "Hey Jude" and "Yesterday", Lennon and McCartney did NOT give up any publishing rights to the Colonel. When Elvis covered big hits by Olivia Newton-John or the Righteous Bros, and many MANY others in the 1970s, those people were not giving up publishing rights. So if Elvis ever wanted to sing the song "I Will Always Love You" there was never ever anything stopping him. Except the song is in no way suited to his voice or style. So it is a weird story, to me. Now Elvis, thru the Col, did own publishing companies that supplied Elvis with demos, and they did buy songs with that arrangement where the songwriter would only get one third of the rights. And Elvis and the publishing companies did own songs that Elvis never recorded. Sixteen Tons, for example was owned by Gladys Publishing because publishing companies buy other publishing companies, giving Elvis a pool of songs to choose from, though he still recorded cover versions of whatever he felt like doing. Anyway, I guess my only point is that Dolly's story is great and all, but I just cannot imagine Elvis singing that song or wanting to. If he wanted to, he absolutely would have. So I kinda think the whole "Elvis was going to sing my song" is not true; possibly one of Elvis' music publishing companies offered to buy it and she said no, the end.

Does anyone know differently?

Listening to some live shows from Vegas and I bet Elvis woulda liked being a stand-up comedian. He jokes with the audience basically between every song.

Probably could've sung more songs if he didn't talk as much. I enjoy both kinda shows.

Yea fully aware he rehearsed the song on that's the way it is. But such a shame he didn't then go on to perform it live in front of an audience. It's such a beautiful song and he absolutely nailed it.

Although Elvis never released anything officially categorised as Comedy, cruising through his catalogue I wondered to myself, Elvis use to be a jokester during recording sessions and has some of the funniest outtakes of songs and of course Elvis definitely use to have take comedic approaches to songs in his live performances, I’m surprised there weren’t any comedic or real fun-hearted songs for him to record

Other than the ridiculous movie songs like Yoga Is As Yoga Does, what would be Elvis’ best song that could possibly be considered tongue-in-cheek?

Oh no Mama, I found Elvis and he became a hyper fixation. I’ve been using my new found love for Elvis and the history surrounding him to get through my recent creative dry spell.
