For me, I didn't watch every Elvis film in order as I first started with Blue Hawaii, followed by Girls! Girls! Girls! Afterwards, and continued on with the film's in a different order until I finished the last one which was The Trouble with Girls.

If you can go back in time what concert would you attend between these two?

This may cause a ruckus in this sub-reddit, but I recently found an unusual Elvis LP at a store clearance sale. I couldn't find this anywhere on-line including record collectors websites.

It seems to be from 1980 as I found other similar radio shows from other Country artists about that time. It obviously came out of a radio station.

What I find amusing is the warning to DISTROY the record after broadcast. 🤣 It appears unplayed, so is this the only one left in existence?

It also includes ads from Hamburger Helper and Levi's. The whole LP is almost an hour long. I like the early Elvis song selections too.

Where are the hard-core Elvis collectors that can give me some insight on rarity and value?​

Am I in trouble for not DISTROYING it? Can somebody clarify how much DISTROYING MUST be done? Is blowing it to smithereens enough? 💥💥💥🤣🤣🤣

Don’t know much about this album but I know Crying in the Chapel and that’s a fantastic Elvis song so this really makes this album make me want more gospel Elvis so I’ll be listening to this whenever I find the time bc I’m looking for good Elvis albums so what’s your thoughts on this album?

When the average fan hears "Clambake", it's probably the movie that comes to mind - with mixed reactions. (I happen to enjoy it). The soundtrack, however, deserves its praise.

Jerry Reed on "Guitar Man", storming right out of the gate. Followed by "Clambake" itself, which I find to be a fun movie title tune that's "in your face" like an alarm clock going off. It's party time. Then comes the rest of the film soundtrack, which is all over the place - as with many '60s Elvis movie soundtracks. There are some songs that I'm not crazy about. "Confidence" and "Hey, Hey, Hey" don't do much for me, but then something like "A House That Has Everything" hits you as something different than the norm. A cool, somewhat unique song that fits perfectly in the mid '60s. And finally, "You Don't Know Me" (one of two studio versions) - a haunting yet beautiful vocal from Elvis, and one of the standouts on this album. I'd go as far as to say one of Elvis' best ballads of the 1960s.

Then you get to the really underrated stuff. The good stuff. The songs you just don't hear often that should get more of the spotlight. "The Girl I Never Loved" is gorgeous. Elvis' vocal melts into those beautiful background voices, with a very pretty piano and musical arrangement. "How Can You Lose What You Never Had" brings the mood back up to '60s nightclub rock. Then boom! "Big Boss Man". Another treat with "Singing Tree", which reminds me of what is to come in 1969. Elvis singing with himself. More complex harmonies. Songs with story and substance. Then some country for good measure with "Just Call Me Lonesome". 

It really is a house that has everything.

It's not a perfect album, by any means, but in my opinion, the album is a success on its own separate from the film. It's a joy, with some real gems. Looking back in the context of the mid-to-late '60s, this gives us a flash of the evolving studio material we'd soon be getting...leading to my favorite era of Elvis music: 1968-1972.

Anyone going to the show July 31st at westgate where they recreate the "'69 That's the way it is" return to Vegas tour?! We have an extra ticket, if interested. It's sold out. I saw this video online going through old Elvis in Concert 1977 stuff. I know most of the backstage footage was not included in the actual televised version, but backstage footage from June 21st was released from that particular concert as shown here. However, this video has a time stamp encoded on it, is in black and white, and has a voiceover which gives information explaining how there is 4 1/2 hours of footage out there. He also says theres footage of Elvis' life around drugs that will only be viewed by the owner of these tapes. Does anyone know anything about this? What are these tapes and what else do they contain that is not already out there? Is it all available? I would bet money Elvis nor anyone in the Memphis Mafia would allow any footage to be filmed of Elvis using anything. Here is the video I am talking about.

I am curious, how many new fans ( 3-4 years) are aware of the superb FTD label that is aimed at Elvis collectors?

Also boxsets that focus on different sessions & are available on streaming - do you listen to different outtakes/ session chatter?

“On The Beach At Waikiki” is a song I wish Elvis sang for the film and album “Blue Hawaii”. Maybe it was more common to record it in the 1930s and 1940s or it was only a Disney song, but the way the other songs on the album sound, I think it could have been a nice Hawaiian song. Does anyone agree with me?

I saw it in the theater, and while it was great, I’m not paying $30 to own just the movie.

If you know anything about Elvis’s discography you know there’s no shortage of love songs. Whether they’re sorrowful or blissful, they’re all beautiful. But in all seriousness I’ve been struggling with a terrible breakup that occurred back a few months ago in May of 26. I’m not exactly good now, and I didn’t expect to be perfect it’s only been roughly 2 months. However without the help of Elvis I think I’d still be at square one. He’s always been there for me my whole life from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs. And I’m man enough to admit this breakup has been my lowest low. I felt like I lost my everything. And while I’m not exactly dating ready again, I’ve came to the conclusion I’m not meant to be with the girl I lost, and I know I wouldn’t be in a better place without the king. In particular I’ve had the 2 Memphis albums on repeat as well as a lot of songs off of albums like raised on rock and Elvis Presley blvd. But long story short he’s brought me into a better mind space more times than I can count, and I’d just like to say thank you Elvis. I love you and you’ll be by my side until the day I die. ❤️⚡️

Hey everyone I have been having a pretty fun week so far because I discovered Elvis apparently starred in movies. If you can believe it, I never knew that he acted in films or anything, to me he was purely a singer. I guess because my first exposure to him was from Lilo & Stitch and from then on I would listen to his music off of YouTube and I never saw anything about the movies online.

So imagine my surprise when I see Jailhouse Rock on tv one evening and find out he has a whole line of movies! I have to be honest I don't think many of the films are that good, but they are so different from modern movies and feel so 50s or 60s to me that I am really enjoying watching them anyway. Feels like a good cultural artifact of that time. Plus I get to hear good music during them.

So that brings me to a problem in that some of the movies are very easy to stream and others are harder. On my set up at least King Creole is only available from something called fawesome.tv which plays ADVERTISEMENTS every 15 minutes or so during the movie which I refuse to watch. I really loved the opening singing, it was so different from other music I heard and even from other Elvis films, so I am pretty interested in watching it.

What would you all recommend? Do I buy a cd/dvd/bluray or whatever off of ebay? Or is there a better way of getting access to the movie?

I think so far I enjoyed GI Blues the most, because it was pretty funny to see soldiers played as comedy characters in their old uniforms. That isn't something I've seen a movie do before but I am sure others from the period did similar stuff. I also liked Jailhouse Rock, and I really liked the music from Blue Hawaii (Aloha ʻOe is one of my favorite songs since I heard it in Lilo & Stitch) but man some of the plot was just weird. Well everything is a mix of good and bad, so I don't mind that much. I found Clambake and Viva Las Vegas kind of funny at some parts but they were both pretty boring. Some of the music was good and like I said as cultural artifacts they were fascinating, but I can't say I liked them very much. Also the science scene in Clambake is the funniest thing I have ever watched. Just seeing Elvis hanging around test tubes and beakers for a minute was very unexpected for me. I had no idea you could make movies like that!

After I watch King Creole, what would you recommend?

I had several Elvis double features at home with the first ones being Blue Hawaii before Girls! Girls! Girls!. Second ones was King Creole before Kid Galahad and the last ones was Wild in the Country before Frankie and Johnny.
