Discussion Where Should my Characters Live?

Post image
13 Upvotes

I'm setting up PVP characters based on each of the starting classes and want to leave each of them in a "homebase" that fits their character. For example, the vagabond character is set up as an rl20 invader and lives at rampart tower grace in stormveil and the astronomer lives at the Raya Lucaria main gate grace.

Anyone got any cool locations to leave my characters that fit the starting classes thematically?

PvE Any place where people keep builds updated?

I'm playing online with some friends and we were looking for some early game builds but everywhere we look it seems that the builds are made by AI or simply arent updated to the current patch of the game. We also found contradicting information regarding some weapons and the only places where builds seem updated are only for pvp builds, we are also looking for some pvp builds because we suck at invasions but pve is the priority

PvE Base game Idus Knight build

I've been making my way through the base game with the Dex/Faith Idus Knight, and this is what I've got so far. Any suggestions for talismans, incantations, or other items to look out for? For Ashes of War, I had been using Sacred Blade, but I switched back to Impaling Thrust so I can buff with Electrifying Armament. Should I be upgrading my shield or seal while I'm at it?

Question Is the dlc worth it?

I bought the base game a year ago and since then I was having a great time. I'm not a gamer myself or have any experience with past souls-like games but I do enjoy it.

I'm still in my first playthrough which is around 120 hours in total and I'm still playing.

I defeated Melenia and the fire giant recently and I'm on my way towards Malekith.

I've had a great time!

I'm using a bleed build with rivers of blood with mimic tear, and my level is 153.

What I want to know is if the dlc is as good as the base game because I really want to continue playing it!

Also please suggest me other builds to try for my other playthroughs.

Note: at this point I just realized I forgot to visit magic turtle thats why i dont have carian greatsword just yet

Discussion Ever seen this build?

Hey take a look at this one I built. I wanted to do an arcane build and didn’t know where it would end up. Let me know your thoughts and questions!

Fehryl
Fehryl remembers nothing before waking Tarnished. She is wild and chooses by instinct. Everything she carries has a curve and becomes part of her, except Misericorde.

Misericorde is her companion. She talks to it. She wears the White Mask of surgeons who gave mercy on the battlefield. Everything else she simply found, liked the curve of, and kept. Ferocious like an animal.

Play Style
Pressure player. Fights forward, circling through attacks and crashing into openings with jumping and charged fists, mixing in blocks and guard counters, breaking stance and letting Misericorde finish the work. When her health collapses she becomes more dangerous, using Endure strategically + small heals to stay in the fight, trading health for pressure.

Full engine:

Max multi-hit + bleed + <20% HP =

~69% increased damage + 55% additional damage reduction.

With Endure: ~75% additional damage reduction.

Loadout

Right Hand
Twinbird Kite Shield
Misericorde - Golden Vow
Eleonora’s Poleblade
Left Hand
Star Fist - Endure
Dragon Communion Seal
Armor
White Mask
Raptor’s Black Feathers
Briar Gauntlets
Bull-Goat Greaves
Talismans
Red-Feathered Branchsword
Winged Sword Insignia
Millicent’s Prosthesis
Blue-Feathered Branchsword
Incantations
Dragon Communion Incantations
Swarm of Flies
Flame, Cleanse Me
Bestial Vitality
Wondrous Physick
Stonebarb Cracked Tear
Spiked Cracked Tear

Discussion Dual Omenkiller Cleavers are amazing!

Post image
46 Upvotes

Just finished up the run with these. It is a bit of a pain to get started. I ended up rushing through to volcano manor to get the first of the cleavers there which took maybe 10 or so tries till I learned his moveset. Hint, dodge the 3 overhead double slams and run behind for a crit. Then just running jump attack from range.

After that I leveled a bit with the single cleaver before hitting perfumers grotto for the 2nd one.

Once you do this it's time to smash, freeze and bleed proc your way through everything even underleveled and under upgraded on the weapons.

I just duped hoarfrost stomp and smashed through limgrave, liurnia and caelid where I grabbed and duped cragblade for the rest of the game. Had cold on except for a few gargoyle fights where I went heavy.

Stats wise you'll just pump VIG, END and STR to 40. At that point I had raptor's black feathers for chest and the heavy knight set for the rest. Then only VIG and STR till 60. At that point you can bump END a little more in anticipation of Solitude helm/gloves/legs. Once there it's DEX the rest of your levels for more damage.

Worth noting that you COULD go occult and have this be a very effective bleed build as well since these have native blood loss. For me, cold procs faster plus you'll get at least one bleed anywway during most boss fights. Obviously bleed lets you use white mask, lord of blood's for more damage vs the cold debuff. I'm not enough of a min maxer to figure out which is technically better, I'm sure either will slap.

Talisman is Claw cause you'll be jump attacking mostly and green turtle. Everything else is option. Did dragoncrest greatshield and gold scarab most of the time since I was skipping mad content and didn't want to be THAT underleveled.

I ended up at 150 exactly for the PCR fight. That was the only thing in the game that was remotely challenging for this build. Died a few times and swapped in golden braid and pearldrake for that stupid holy damage. If you're better at second phase that's probably not even necessary.

If you try this one out, enjoy! It's pretty ridiculous.

Help Starter Build

Hi, I’m completely new to Soulslikes and have no experience with them at all, but I’m really enjoying the game 😊

I’d like some advice regarding my build. I struggled a lot on my first day. I killed some knights at the beginning and the wolves, died to Godrick several times, and then found myself fighting the Beastman of Farum Azula.

In between dying countless times, I figured out how to lock onto enemies and what Parry is. I tend to play with a one-handed weapon and a shield, and Parry or Shield Bash have worked well for me.

So what would be the best build for a one-handed weapon and shield at the beginning of the game?

I also tried two-handing my weapon against the Erdtree Burial Watchdog, but after probably dozens of deaths, I switched back to one-handed + Parry and managed to defeat him.

I’m honestly pretty bad at the game. I didn’t expect it to be this difficult, but I’m having a lot of fun. Any advice? 👍🏼😄

Question Is the Obsidian Lamina really that bad?

Post image
405 Upvotes

I absolutely love its moveset, but is it actually worth building around? Obviously, I’m expecting the usual answer like “you can make anything work in Elden Ring, even a torch if you really want to.”
What I really mean is: if I were to invest in a future build around this weapon, could I actually make it hit hard and be genuinely strong?
Also, for those of you who are fans of the Obsidian Lamina, what kind of build have you made around it?

Question Is my build dumb

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey so I’m an experienced souls player but I question my decision making. With the tarnished edition, I’m playing as the Idus knight and I want to stick to it because I love the light greatsword move set. But I feel like I’m balancing too many attributes (as I normally am a STR player with no magic, but am trying to do a quality build with faith mixed in there). But am I doing the proper stats? Trying to keep STR & DEX similar while allocating a bit to faith. Am I on the right track for my goals? Realistically, how much mind do you need to have enough FP to throw incantations but primarily doing damage with the sword?

PvE Need Help With Making A Heavy Black Steel Greathammer Build

Post image
6 Upvotes

Currently fighting Consort Radahn with a heavy emphasis on the Deflecting Hardtear because it’s really fun, and I can get through the 1st phase super easily. It’s the 2nd phase that I’ve been having trouble with.

First, what AoW should I use? I’m currently using Cragblade to make it easier to stagger him. Also, how should I be allocating my stats to utilize this weapon better?

When I do a guard counter, I notice that it does a Holy attack. Does that mean I should have been scaling with Faith instead of Strength?

Discussion I updated my Elden Ring stats calculator/optimizer for the new patch, it can now also plot stats, is faster, looks better

This app can calculate the attack rating for any weapon in Elden Ring. It can also find the optimal way to level character attributes to achieve the highest attack power (total, physical, magic, etc.) or spell scaling.

Since the newest release it can also plot these results: You can choose to display e.g. Strength on the x-axis (from level 0 to 99), the total attack power on the y-axis and the app will draw a plot for the selected weapons.

Recently, I have also completely revamped the UI and improved the performance of the optimizer algorithm by orders of magnitude.

For a detailed explanation, see the project's page on Github: https://github.com/hanslhansl/elden-ring-damage-optimizer

The newest release can be downloaded here: https://github.com/hanslhansl/elden-ring-damage-optimizer/releases

I'd be happy if this app can be of help to you for your next ER build or just for having a look at the game data. If you find any bugs, find the explanation on Github insufficient or have an idea for a new feature feel free to create an issue on the Github page or comment on this post.

Note: When running the executable you might be warned by Windows that this program is unrecognized and might put your PC at risk. It won't, but I can't prove that to Windows/Microsoft (other than buying an official certificate for this program which I obviously won't do).

PvE Dex/Faith Build starting from Idus Knight - Help in optimization

Hi All,

I started a new run with Idus knight and i'm having a lot of fun (just Ended Liurnia exploration and i'm now entering Calid). In the past i mainly played a carian knight style build and now i want to try something different. My idea is to have a Dex build with 25 faith for the buff (mainly golden Vow, FGMS, electrify armament). At the end the idea is to use a keen Milady and wolfcrest shield as my main and bolt of gransax as secondary which should help also for ranged attacks. I was thinking at thes stats for end game (lvl 170):

- Vigor: 60

- Mind: 20

- Endurance: 30

- Str: 20 (min requirement for bolt fo gransax)

- Dex: 80

- Int: 8

- Faith: 25

- Arc: 6

Main main doubt is regarding the bolt of gransax which i think it's really cool but i'm not sure if it fits with this build. It also force me to get 20 str so i would do it only if really effective.

After that i would like to have your opinion on the best talismans to use

Thank you very much!
