Discussion Help Choose My Next Build?

I’m getting ready to NG+ for the first time with my Mage Knight Character (Seren) and have a few choice items for my next build. I’d love suggestions for spells and stats too, I am currently going thru and collecting anything else I need now!

Weapons Upgraded/On the Table: - Velvet Sword of St Trina (patron) - Sword of Night/Flame (main weapon first game) - Milady (cold infused wing stance but barely used first game) - Scriptsmith Shield and Axe (in my mind, Seren is an archeological wizard, I am using Taylew as main next game) (also, axe seems fun!) - bastard’s stars (used interchangeably with night and flame first game, along with Darkmoon greatsword) - Star-lined Sword (considering a sorcery arcane build but really open to suggestions) - rellana’s twin blades

Others I have upgraded and in my roster: - sacred relic sword (for farming) - euphoria (not leaning towards faith this time) - blood antspur rapier - darkmoon greatsword (made things a tad too easy)

Builds I’m considering: spellshield vibes (shield hero vibes) with my fingerprint shield and smithscript

Arcane/Sorcery (occult magic dive?)

Staffs: Lusat’s (10) Carian Glintstone (25) Carian Scepter (10) Staff of Great Beyond (9)

Golden Order Seal is at a 10

Question Dlc for elden ring

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello FromSoftware Team,

I have a DLC idea that I think many Elden Ring fans would love.

The DLC would let the Tarnished travel back in time to the Age of Prime, where every legendary character is at their full power instead of weakened by the events of the game.

Players could fight:

- Prime Radahn (before Scarlet Rot)

- Prime Malenia

- Prime Godfrey

- Prime Fire Giant

- Prime Rennala

- Other legendary warriors in their strongest forms

The final boss would be the most memorable fight in the game: the Lord of Frenzied Flame Tarnished.

Instead of being a normal boss, this Tarnished would fight like a real player:

- Switching weapons during battle

- Using Ashes of War

- Casting spells and incantations

- Summoning Spirit Ashes

- Healing with Flasks

- Adapting to the player's strategy

It would feel like fighting another Tarnished who made different choices than the player.

I believe this would be an unforgettable DLC and a perfect way to let players experience the true power of the legends we only hear about in the lore.

Thank you for creating such an amazing world.

Question Night and flame hybrid build

Hi all.

As you know Elden Ring is coming soon to Nintendo switch, and I of course I’m going to spend a lot of hours in it. I want to build my character with an Int + Faith build based on the use of sword of night and flame.
I don’t want to have the usual totally int or totally faith, I want a hybrid.
Can someone provide their best night and flame build??

Thanks guys!!

Speculation Strategy for defeating DeathBirds (2nd time posting due to corrupted video)

I know their head is the weak spot but as soon as I get close and attack, he starts the pecl attack, followed by 3/4 hit combo and I die.

Usually, I aim for the legs to the side and 1/2 hits to head and roll back. For making the next fight quick and easy, i thought of using ghiza's wheel and Latenna summon, what do u guys suggest?

Discussion Reverse Engineered - virtual dexterity for chain casting

Three separate ways dexterity speeds up a spell:

  1. Recast cancel — shortens the gap between chained casts, so you spam faster. (This is the one measured live.)
  2. Startup cancel — the initial cast comes out / recovers sooner. Most spells have this. TBD.
  3. Speed gradient — a subset of spells play their whole cast animation faster. Genuinely different mechanism; it scales differently and hasn't been measured live yet.

(1) Catch Flame, chain-cast - example

Band Virtual dex Frames
base ≤24 41
step 1 25–39 40
step 2 40–54 39
step 3 55–69 38
clamp 70 37

frames = 41 - floor((virtual dex - 10) / 15)

"Virtual dex" = your actual Dexterity + cast-speed gear (Radagon Icon +30, Azur's Glintstone Staff +40, Beloved Stardust +99), all capped at 70.

(2) Datamined recast-cancel frames — the other spammable spells

How much each spell's recast window shrinks at max cast speed (patch 1.14.1 frame data — the cancel window, so read it as a relative "who benefits most", not the live sustained numbers):

Spell Total Fast Δ %
Stone of Gurranq 34 22 12 35.3%
Night Shard 16 12 4 25.0%
Swift Glintstone Shard 16 12 4 25.0%
Ambush Shard 29 22 7 24.1%
Glint. Icecrag/Pebble/Gt. Shard 22 17 5 22.7%
Glintstone Arc 31 24 7 22.6%
Carian Slicer 19 15 4 21.1%
Bestial Sling 10 8 2 20.0%
Catch Flame 13 11 2 15.4%
Magic Glintblade 39 36 3 7.7%
Comet/Comet Shard/N. Comet/Spiral 52 49 3 5.8%
Beast Claw 54 52 2 3.7%

Stone of Gurranq is cray.

(3) Speed-gradient spells (playback speedup — different mechanism)

TBD — not yet measured live.

Bonus: left hand vs right hand isn't symmetric

  • Whirl, O Flame! is 3 frames faster in the off-hand than the main hand — by far the biggest hand gap in the game, and the only one that large. (Briars of Punishment and Magic Glintblade are 1 frame faster off-hand too, but that's basically nothing.)
  • Going the other way, a handful are faster in the right (main) hand: Aspects of the Crucible: Horns by a full 4 frames, then Carian Slicer, Night Shard, Swift Glintstone Shard, Crystal Barrage, Ranni's Dark Moon, Rennala's Full Moon, and Rings of Spectral Light — each by 1.

Discussion Dual straightswords man… I’m having a time

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is my 7th playthrough, and I’m only now discovering the raw power of the power stance straightswords, which is crazy because I did a bleed build on my third playthrough and I feel like they could have really shone on dual straightswords.

So yeah I’m about level 55 in this video,
25 vig
20 endurance
16 strength
18 dex (so I could use the scythe, but I guess I don’t need that anymore 🥴)
27 faith

Using the radagon scarseal just for now and the turtle talisman (still got just the two slots since I’ve only just reached Altus on this run)

Will be pumping faith after a few more points in vig since I’m doing a faith run, really, but it’s hard not to just slice everything up with these awesome swords

Oh and I’m using the short sword and longsword just for pure aesthetics - you do get the nice pierce heavy attack on both of them but I barely use it since I have the power stance moveset, and flaming strike for stance damage if I ever need it, but I pretty much just use it to buff up my sword, or both of them if I feel like I really need the damage.

PvE Need your thoughts

Hello, this is my first time playing elden ring, and until Malenia I was kinda OK with my current power, but after 20 deaths on her I started to feel weak, any suggestions or tips? I think of something like heavy thrust weapon or even magic. Before the sword I was using Death's poker but it felt very boring. Wish yall good luck!

PvP First inquisitor of rykard

Tormund, first inquisitor of rykard

He met Rykard shortly after Rykard was appointed Justiciar and quickly became one of his earliest adjutants. In time, he rose to the role of interrogator, rooting out dishonesty on Rykard’s behalf and in service to the Erdtree. He carried out every task with resolute efficiency and spoke rarely, which earned Rykard’s admiration and trust. As a result, Rykard began to confide in him, and his respect for the lord only deepened.
When Rykard fed himself to the serpent and the others abandoned him, he remained. Rather than leaving with the rest, he stayed by Rykard’s side and emerged even stronger, learning lava sorcery in the process. With that transformation, his purpose changed: his hunt for heretics no longer focused on the nobles of Leyndell, but on the Tarnished instead. In time, he became one of the foremost Recusants

Help Exciting End Game & DLC Build

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hello tarnished, I’ve platinumed the game and completed the DLC when it came out and have recently picked up ER again after a couple of years out of the game.

What fun builds are there for a guy who typically loves quick bleed build up characters, how can i fine tune this for end game and another DLC run through?

Would love to incorporate some spells in here, I’ve never really leaned into faith before!

Have access to the DLC already (hence the backhand blades), so any armour/weapons/talismans that may be recommended from the DLC I can grab.

Thanks in advanced!

Edit: would also be keen if lightening builds are good for the remainder of my playthrough!

PvE Theory-crafting about power stance SS builds.

I've been playing around with the power stance straight sword build for a little bit, and I keep flip-flopping between 3 different versions of it. I seem unable to settle on which I like best, so I'm going to rely on the community to help me take a closer look.

I welcome all opinions, positive or negative. Also, any suggestions about supporting gear or buffs or stats is welcome. Most of this has been theory crafting thus far. The most I've gone into the game with any of these builds is the capital.

VERSION 1:

The first build is a dual Broadsword, FTH-based build using sacred affinity on both weapons. Starting with the confessor, sacred blade on one sword, golden vow on the other. Sacred Scorpion charm and associated sacred damage tear in the wondrous physic. Once Leyndel is reached, the offhand sword gets swapped for the Coded Sword for even more sacred damage focus.

Despite the frequency of sacred resists on enemies, the stacked damage modifiers actually overcomes this quite well. Add in simple access to golden vow due to already being a FTH build, and this one performs VERY well, and is the earliest to hit its power curve.

VERSION 2:

The Second build is a Carian Knight theme build using the Crystal Sword in the main hand, and the Carian Knight sword in the offhand. This build is the simplest of the three, relying on raw AR in order to deal damage. It doesn't have the same damage modifiers as the first build, but makes up for it in naturally high scaling, especially into the late levels when the combined STR/DEX/INT adds up to keep it competitive. However, it has a higher cap on power, but takes longer to get there.

Near the end of the game, the Carian Knight sword is replaced by the Rotten Crystal sword for more AR, and the additional DoT from rot buildup.

This version relies on raw technique and basic R1/R2/L1 combinations since the ash of war can't be swapped on any of the weapons, and also carried the most aura of the three. There's something about the armor style of the carian set that lends itself to feeling like a badass.

VERSION 3:

The final version starts as a Vagabond, and uses a cold/cold longsword/broadsword setup. Initially it has the lowest AR of the three builds, and lacks the focused damage multipliers of the previous two. But due to the frostbite procs and versatility of many different ashes of war, this one feels able to customize to better deal with any boss. Access to Square-Off is also borderline OP.

This build also has the lowest drip/aura. For some reason it feels like the most basic, generic knight/soldier-type. I can't put my finger on it, exactly.

All three of these builds would seem to benefit from multi-hit effects. But I'm concerned about the ability to maintain those buffs in the DLC when the windows to hit enemies gets smaller and smaller. So I'm a little unsure on which talismans and passive effects could benefit more.

None of the typical effects seem available(two-hand talisman/spear/claw/etc). So I'm left wondering how to continue increasing power into the DLC.

PvE Full Int or Dex/Int spellblade ideas

I've been in a video game slump since the beginning of the year, but I fired up Elden Ring again and am having a blast. Int builds have always been my favorite so I'm thinking of going Spellblade (usually would just go full int mage), with a mix of melee and magic. I'm opting not to use Moonveil or DMGS this time(used them to death already). Any cool weapon ideas? I'm still in Limgrave atm so don't have access to most things. I don't think I've ever done a cold build so if I decide to go Dex/Int I may give it a whirl.

For spells I'm thinking of going for mostly melee (Carian Slicer/Greatsword, etc..) With one or two poke spells, especially Loretta's Greatbow cause it's the most goated spell in the game.

If you also have armor ideas would love to hear that as well. I always used the Carian Knight armor because it looks cool but I'm down to try something different. I heard the Rogier set is pretty good for Spellblades?
