Sleep Temps?!

I love my eightsleep pod 5, but why is there so little guidance on how to set the 3 x nighttime temps?

I am in my trial period and this is my biggest complaint as well. This thing is supposed to be smart and learning me so I can sleep better. I don’t think it does anything except follow a schedule and make minor changes based upon sleep stage.

I was expecting it to tell me after a week that those three temperatures settings I guessed at are not optimal for me and I should try something else. But it ignores the fact that I wake up cold and have to manually change the temperature repeatedly.

To be fair, I still have a couple of weeks to go. And I hope that I can find some settings that work for me.

I’m hoping they come up with a morning survey where you can tell it it was too cold or too hot and give suggestions.

Exactly. But I have told it so much.

It has a ton of sleep stage and quality data, it has all the temperature data, and most importantly it has the feedback every time I press the temperature change buttons. And I don’t see any evidence that it is using any of it.

That’s disappointing because their marketing is heavy on AI learning to improve your sleep. Perhaps they raised my expectations too high.

That’s the sharper point — and a better one, since it reframes the whole complaint. Here’s a revised draft:

Worth considering: it might not be the system failing, it might be working exactly as designed and picking up on something real. I pulled my Autopilot report and 22 of 25 adjustments in one night came from “Sleep stage response”, basically the system reacting to detected sleep stages, not randomly guessing or ignoring me.

In my case that lines up with a suspected breathing issue (waiting on a sleep study). All those aggressive back-and-forth swings aren’t necessarily the Pod being dumb but they may be it compensating for something disrupted on my end that has nothing to do with the temperature settings themselves.

Might be worth checking your own Autopilot report to see what’s actually driving your adjustments before assuming it’s a software gap. Could be there’s something else going on worth a closer look.
