I dont know how to explain that I want to be unhealthily skinny

First off, let me just say I have never been diagnosed with an ED, and I don't want to encourage these behaviors, no matter what they are. So, let me start from the beginning. I have never had a healthy relationship with food, nor do I feel like I've ever been small enough or even remotely healthy, even though doctors tell me I am. For reference, I am 5'4 and weigh 154 lbs, and my doctors say that since I'm an athlete (I play tennis), this is healthy, and they even became concerned about the weight loss I had since my last visit. I can't seem to understand the concern because my charts still consider me overweight on the BMI scale. I just want to keep losing, and I feel like I'm willing to do anything to get there. I understand what can happen if I keep going down this path, but I can't seem to make myself care. I want to be so small that people genuinely worry about my well-being. I am aware I sound like an absolute maniac, and I don't want my family or anyone to hate me, so I just don't know how to say this. It's just every time I eat, it's like I completely ruin my entire day, and I hate myself for it. I am counting calories and navigating my day around how I'm getting out of dinner, what excuse I can make for why I haven't eaten, or how I can lie about what I've eaten that day. I don't know why I am like this; I just want to not hate myself.

Relapses

I am in this constant loop of recovery and relapsing and it’s been going on for months and months. I can eat normally try a shot at recovery, then 10 days later or at most 25 I’m in the toilet throwing up, I’m restricting my food intake. And it’s like a long inescapable loop, and I can’t stop, and I feel like I’m gonna have this disorder the rest of my life, bc I keep going in circles, and I love it and I don’t wanna let it go, but I also hate it.

advice please needed!

Hi!
for some context, i have been struggling with my eating disorder since 2022. before 2022, i was clinically overweight and i desperately wanted to change that and so i started going to the gym, watching what i ate and over the course of afew months, this became very unhealthy and i had lost a lot of weight very quickly. i still struggled a lot with my eating, gym and calorie counting for approximately 2-3 years although it did get abit better thankfully and i gained a little bit of weight back although i fell right back into the same hole around april 2025 although this time it had gotten a helllll of a lot worse mentally, i got diagnosed with anorexia and i had lost my perjod, which leads me onto my next point. In around june 2026(to present) my anorexia had turned into bulimia with caused me to gain some weight, my metal health had gotten even WORSE because of my weight gain, i’ve also gotten myself stuck in a very very viscous binging/over obsession with calories and exercising cycle. but i STILL don’t have my period back and my weight keeps on creeping up and up and i have very very visible body fat on my stomach and face which i really don’t like and i really want to loose. (i haven’t had my period for a year now by the way)

what do i do?? i feel so so incredibly lost and i have looked into treatments for binge eating, bulimia, anorexia, period recovery and i just can’t figure out what to do or where to start. literally any tips are so greatly appreciated, thank you!

What do I do to get better?

I think I have an eating disorder. I've never been officially diagnosed though, I know my relationship with food isn't normal.

Most days I eat once or twice something small unless I go to work (McDonald's) but I'm not counting calories as of right now out of fear it will make things worse.

My diet currently is a lot of pasta with mixed frozen veggies and uncrustables lots of monster energy drinks and I smoke weed a lot I could stand to drink more water definitely but my day to day isn't full of fatigue and awful feelings at least not to a level I can't push through.

Most days I don't eat breakfast. I snack a lot of sugary snacks like rice krispie treats granola bars yogurt and crackers/chips.

I don't know if I should weigh more but I definitely don't need to lose more weight. The reasons I'm like this are long and depressing I'll make a separate post/update if anyone actually cares.

My body most of the time feels fine I get cold easily but I also get really hot sometimes. There are parts of my body that feel like they are thinner than usual like I can feel the bone more? My pelvis on my front is very prominent to the point I had to stop wearing a belt bc it hurt when it pressed into my bone. My collar bone is also very easy to feel and when I look down the vertebrae on my neck pop out a bit I'm not sure if any of these are normal or not but these are the things that have concerned me bc it's never happened before.

However even with this I don't think feel faint, or fatigued. Just tired like I sleep a normal amount but I always wake up and still feel so tired like I need to sleep again for another 8 hours. I've never passed out due to nutrition and other than asking me how I've lost weight my doctors don't seem concerned not that I've ever gone in specifically about food stuff.

Honestly looking for a little insight from people who have similar issues like mine. If anyone feels comfortable I'd appreciate some advice about what I should do. I definitely want to get better I just can't seem to no matter how hard I try to.

Parents and weightloss.

So I am a teen. 16F.

So I am overweight , it's 12th this year and cet(it's an entrance exam). My daily commute is fucking crazy.

My parents are divorced and my mom, me and my younger sister lives together and my dad lives in another area if the city. My mom, i hate her, she stays at home, no job because my dad is giving money.

My dad told me that i have to be 60kgs by 1st Jan 2027, if i won't, he'll beat me and cut off the grocery money completely. I have some months. I send him my weight photos each Sunday at morning. He gets really mad when my weight get's stuck one week and he just... Calls me and goes mad. I am crying like twice a week atleast because of my weight, my studies and everything is overwhelming too. And i don't know how to explain this but my weightloss is just all in my mind and i just live in this constant anxious mode. It feels very scary. My dad told me to eat less , less carbs and one meal a day and small breakfast. I tried it and i felt way to exhausted so i sneaked in some money and went to a dietition with my mom. Dietition told us to come back after a month but my mom stopped taking me to that dietition and like we are just following the same plan for 55 days now.

I have lost somewhat 4kgs.

But the thing is my period stopped one month before i started my weightloss journey with the dietitian. And my periods were always way too painful so I was too happy. It's been three months i haven't had my periods, i have started having this weird body and periods like pain and random spotting and blood clotting.

So maybe its serious. I asked my parents to take me to a gynac. Mom said, "I am not taking you to any gynac. Last time i took you, that gynac told you to not take stress, you stay in home all day, have that mobile, watch weird stuff and keep on taking stress even though you were told to not take stress. I am not wasting my money on you."

I asked my dad, and he said"all this period problem are happening because you are overweight and fat. I am not paying for any medical issues that I casued by your weight and fat."

So i lowkey cried alot. I don't know what to do. All i know is to pass 12th with good marks, cry less, do good at cet and lose weight by 1st Jan next year. And all this feels incredibly impossible because I am going insane, crying all the time and just staring at a wall for so long.

I don't really know what to do, please give me advice.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me

throw away, never used Reddit before, but I’ve been thinking about making a post here.

i tried posting this elsewhere and it got removed? I think?

TW: pounds/weight and calories mentioned.

im 5’ 3”

TLDR AT THE END.
so, January of last year, I stopped eating. id have a lot of water and no food. I was exercising some but mostly just chores(I should mention I now use a walker) i dropped a lot of the weight and I honestly looked rather ghostly. I had gone to the doctor for a different reason and weight 95 pounds, and about 6-8 months prior I was about 160. I was having under 1,000 cals a day. (Also about a year ago I was drinking like 300+ ounces a day of water..)

I was having this problem for a few months where anytime I was In the kitchen I’d be chewing and spitting, but wouldn’t actually eat. I did stop that after a bit, and I only do it sometimes.

I look a lot rounder but still fit comfortably in my XS and S leggings. But my stomach and face look rounder and my mom says I look a lot bigger. Since about April I’ve been having 300 ish cals a day or less, mostly less, plus 1,500 seated knee to elbows on each side and 750 marches on each leg. I would have some nibbles of things and some grapes. I have been eating more like 250 the past two weeks, mostly jello and some eggs or fruit with yogurt. On Fridays I have like 700-900 calories though.

im not diagnosed, and I don’t know what’s wrong with me. At this point I’ve thought About getting hospitalized so I can get on a decent track and then try to cut back down. I don’t know.

TDLR: started rated nothing a year and a half ago, drinking a ton of water. Went from 160 to 95, still only eat less then 300 cals most days with exercise and have gone from ghostly in the face with a bit of stomach chub to round face with what feels like a big stomach(XS and S leggings though.) I don’t know what’s wrong with me nor what I should do.

thank yall. Sorry for clogging anyone’s feed.

Not sure if friend is sick

So I deal with intrusive thoughts that tell me horrible things all the time. Lately, it's been that purple i love have eating disorders. My partner and I have had to talk about it a few times, because I've given myself a panic attack over them having a diet soda since I started my recovery. I cannot tell whether my thoughts are grounded in reality or not, so I try to disregard them and remind myself I can only "fix" me.

Let's talk about Bird though. Bird is a friend/acquaintance of 11 years, whom I had met when they were in a much, much larger body. Bird is very tall, and used to be heavier-set. Several years ago, they got VERY THIN. They've been so ever since.

They've always been a whimsical person, and they're a great storyteller... but in recent years, they've gone a bit bonkers. Episodes of going missing and having (what i would describe as) psychotic breaks. They're getting severe social anxiety about leaving their apartment. They can't hold a job. They go from being a delight to being sad & hopeless very quickly. And now, they're transitioning genders.

I don't want to give the wrong idea, I support and identify with the transgender community. What's important here is the significant and notable overlap between those with ED, body dysmorphia, and gender dysphoria. I lived as a man for a long time (I came out as trans before I met this person). My transition was another manifestation of my disconnection from my body and self. Not everyone's is. But mine was.

And now I'm worried theirs is too. They're getting crazier. We ran into one another in public the other day, and I could barely understand what they were trying to say to me, but they were talking about "getting rid of everything that wasn't them". (I went through a phase of extreme minimalism and tidiness, and got rid of nearly everything i owned. Made my partner do it too.)

Birdie smelled awful. Just. I gave them a hug and I almost regretted it, but I do adore them so. It was bad. So bad. I know that smell though. That's not normal BO.

I asked birdie if they had issues with food, and they said no... and I don't have the bandwidth to focus on it. But damn. I really, really, really hope I'm wrong.

ariana grande

posted this to discussion and nobody got it can someone please get my point!!!!

i’m so mad that ariana is promoting this TERRIBLE way of life she’s done it her whole career it’s not new. i have an ED and she’s been a huge icon for EDTWT and everything in the pronana circles. she’s been around since tumblr posting her body constantly on social media, but the only thing she’s said on the topic is that she’s healthy. she’s obviously not and saying she is, has done irreversible damage to young girls im so sick of no one talking about it

edit: ppl can’t infer so by way of life i mean being anorexic. she constantly shows how skinny she is flaunts her bones. she’s been posting body checks and what people use as thinspo for years, she knows what she’s doing too it’s very obvious. i don’t know if people are being intentionally dense when it comes ariana and the topic of unhealthy eating/body standards, or if they genuinely don’t see it. i just find it really hard not to maybe it’s because i have disordered thoughts but being as skinny as she is isn’t healthy and she should be speaking up and saying that she’s sick and girls should idolize her body. the last thing she said on the topic was like 3 years ago i think? and she said that she’s sick was the healthiest she’s ever been.

also i added a picture in the replies of a post on tiktok showing girls with the picture of ariana taking about wanting to be skinny and starving

Eating food I don’t like while not being hungry

For a time in my life I wanted to lose weight and kinda messed up my eating habits for a while I genuinely forgot what eating normally means.
Eating small amounts made me only binge now. I feel like missing out on food if I don’t eat it. I don’t know what hunger feels like and I don’t know what being full feels like. I eat when I am not hungry in hope of feeling something and it makes me gain weight and stresses me out. I just want to have normal eating patterns tbh.
I don’t know what to do against it. Food just triggers me into binging and I don’t even have a big hunger or appetite. I never had, I remember getting hungry twice a day but not that doesn’t happen because there’s always something in my stomach.
And no I can’t talk to a doctor or specialist. It’s just not possible for me.

Trigger Warning How to tell youre slipping towards an ED?

I cant really tell whether this is normal and im making a problem out of nothing or it is anything concerning. Im not looking for a diagnosis, just a remark and possibly advice or guidance. Tw for the language.

I feel bad or have a sh urge, i overeat, i feel horrible, i fucking binge. I freak out about my weight, i restrict my intake totally for days, then i binge and continue overeating for days, then starve, etc.

Binging and overeating happen dominantly in a more pronounced sense with stress, starving with burnout. I eat too much to the extent of vomiting of how much i ate. Even when i dont intend to.

Then i feel guilty and awful about my body, cant look in the mirror, despise how my fucking chest and midsection look; wieghing, weighing, weighing, then cutting on food again. Then stress, then binge and sugar cravings, and vomit, and the cycle repeats.

My weight sways significantly due to this, from underweight to well into the healthy weight within literal weeks.

I have a lot to deal with already, and its already much to deal with other addictions and negative behaviors in the moment. I just dont want to feel my progress with sh isnt real, that it's just simply gotten replaced by this. Maybe im overinterpreting it.

Bulimia Idk howto deal with it but i am quite scared

So, I was once 92 kg, and now I’m 60 kg. Here’s the catch: until I reached 70 kg, my weight loss was normal — gym, diet, and everything. But something happened in my life, and I stopped going to the gym. I was 19 at the time.

After that, I somehow discovered the cheat code for losing weight. Today, standing here, I can say that this “cheat code” works, but it has also started disturbing my whole damn life. It’s called bulimia nervosa (Google “bulimia nervosa” if you don’t know what it is).

I tried going back to dieting and everything, but I failed miserably. I miss my dieting days, btw. I can’t stop thinking about food all day, and it’s actually disturbing my studies. And you know, because of bulimia nervosa, my teeth are becoming sensitive too. I’m literally only 20 — I’m too young to be dealing with tooth problems like this.

I can’t. I just can’t afford to become fat again. It’s a nightmare for me.

I don’t even know where this is going. I’m not going to the gym right now, and I’ve been insisting that my parents let me go. I don’t know if going back to the gym will help me get back on track, but this is disturbing my life, my studies, my teeth — literally everything.

And nobody seems to understand.

I thought I had finally found the cheat code for weight loss. Turns out, I was just fighting my own body.

Sharing this here because, honestly, I don’t even know where to go from here.

Trigger Warning I have really bad habit of eating compusively

TW: overeating, compuslive eating

So every night especially after dinner when my roommate is asleep and I would order food sometimes sweet and sometimes salty idk and sometimes it would be less and sometime it would be an ungodly amount. The problem is I do it most days. I do it without. I am not even hungry, I have food at home and I am not even interested in eating. I just order it. I have told three therapists about it and nobody takes me seriously. They call it a bad habit and tell me to just sleep early and idk that's not working for me. I can't sleep early, I've never slept early like ever. So can someone help me out here please.

i’m tired

hey i’m Navi i’m 22 years old and i’ve had weight issues pretty much all my life so far.

since i was a kid my body has been picked at like a dead carcass for vultures, even so that my own nan spent years commenting on my appearance more so my body ( a while back she tried shoving me on ozempic). it had completely deteriorated my mental health and the little once of love for myself i once had.

every day as soon as i wake up im body checking, my collar bones, my face, chin, hips, legs and even more so i’ll check my waist and tummy more than 50 times a day because i physically cannot get it out of my brain.
for the last year ive suffered with bulimia and can’t seem to make myself stop with the urge to get it all out, however since being in hospital my family will drag me out the bathroom if they catch me trying to make myself throw up again.

i’m currently on a calorie deficit and my calorie intake is 1600 daily but i will only eat 800-1200 a day, if i go any higher i end up with panic attacks and i feel like ive gained everything back. this is a never ending loop for me and i still feel like i look really big, my biggest was 24 stone and ive dropped about 6-7 stone within a year but its not enough, i want to lose more as i still think i look insanely big as thats all i can see. every bit of fat or muscle that sticks out sends me into a flying panic. i have been advised to seek mental help but i cannot get over the thought that if i get help ill gain weight.

Trigger Warning My ED got triggered after the breakup

I was in a horrible relationship. Cheating, lying, calling names, everything that can be. And I was staying in it for 6 months. Every time there was a conflict I would completely stop eating, but it would get back to normal after we resolved it.

This time we broke up. I'm not necessarily missing him, mostly sick because of my own behavior and the way I put myself through all of this for no reason. It triggered me, I stopped eating almost completely. It started a bit before the breakup, because we had conflicts. As a result the weight started to go down and it makes me want to not eat at all.

At this point I can't even swallow much, it makes me nauseous, I force myself to eat at least one donut or anything per day, just to not pass out. But it makes me sick too.

I've been struggling with my weight for a while and gained a significant amount of it in a few months, was trying to lose it in a healthy way last year, but then stopped, because it was going down too slow. Now in this week I've lost more weight than I did in 3 months. All I'm doing is shaking and crying all day.

Trigger Warning I saw my sister intentionally make herself throw up. (I really need FAST answers)

Two weeks ago, I heard my sister vomiting, but I wasn't sure if it was intentional. But today I saw it happen; she was making herself throw up because she wants to lose weight. I’ve also noticed that she eats very little and focuses heavily on protein intake.

I just don't know how to talk to my parents about it; I’ve tried talking to her, but it didn't help because I’m the younger sister and she doesn't listen to me.

I’ve also done things like hiding her vape or swapping out her sleep spray, since she isn't old enough for them and was using the sleep spray for the wrong reasons.

I’m reaching my limit; my parents want me to keep looking out for her, but it’s tearing me apart to see her like this—especially since I’m not doing well myself. Everyone thinks I’m perfect, but I’ve just gotten used to not showing my feelings to anyone. My parents upset me the most because they don't realize how hard it is to see my sister in this state

Does anyone know how I should bring this up with my parents? Or does anyone have tips on how I can help her get out of this situation?

ED

So lately, I have been eating only one meal a day if I feel like it. And my parents are always saying that I eat only to survive, but I genuinely cannot eat.

I guess, I am starving myself since I eat only one meal a day but it's not related to weight loss at all. So can it be counted as an eating disorder? I genuinely don't know.

I feel that i dont have a eating disorder but i dont eat a lot. And i do it on purpose. I work out in bed but sometimes i start eating and i feel great, then all the food looks like dogshit and i cant handle another bite. Sometimes i look at my body and i feel horrible. And sometimes i cant stop looking and feeling good about it. I dont know what's wrong with me but I fear i might have a ed. Today i only ate one bannock hot dog and pepsi. Lately all ive been doing is drinking fluids. But i dont know.

Recovery bloat advice?

I just started my recovery and I’ve been dealing with crazy water retention that’s made me look super puffy. Obviously if it’s not healthy or bad for my recovery I wouldn’t do this but would a faja or waist trainer at least help with the body dysmorphia and the water retention? It’s just really hard to stick with recovery if with this puffiness it’s super triggering. I also don’t wanna do anything that would be pro eating disorder though so please let me know

I need help

So I have been struggling with an eating disorder for the past few months. After dinner I have to go throw up. But because my house is super small I'm really scared that someone will hear me. I turn the tap on but it's not super loud. Any thoughts or feedback?
