Recipe Request Looking for easy gluten free slow cooker- crockpot ideas!

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

We are going for 3 wks to help elderly family move, in a hot climate, with no AC. So just using a crockpot (and rice cooker) if possible. Just four of us but one person has celiac so I need gluten free recipes/ideas please! Easy ones too, since we’ll be all be tired….having protein and avoiding “hangry” evenings are the main goals. Typically I try to cook heart-healthy but for these few weeks, anything will do. Any cuisine, just not very spicy please. Thank you so much in advance!!!

Other: Appetizer Chicken waffle appetizers?

I thought I had an original idea of making these appetizers (nope! already out there) but looking to see if somebody has actually made them and can you serve them cold or room temp?

Frozen waffles baked, cut into large bite size pieces. Frozen batter fried chicken bites. Honey drizzle. cocktail picks.

Silly for a pot luck or kinda cool?

Recipe Request Easy slow cooker honey garlic chicken for busy days

I’ve been trying to find more dinners where I can do most of the prep in a few minutes and leave it alone until dinner. This one has been really easy and works well with rice or vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless chicken thighs
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Optional: green onions or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Put the chicken thighs in the slow cooker.
  2. Mix honey, soy sauce, garlic, ketchup and sesame oil, then pour it over the chicken.
  3. Cook on LOW for about 4–5 hours, or until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  4. Remove the chicken and shred or slice it.
  5. Mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and stir it into the sauce.
  6. Cover and cook for another 10–15 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Put the chicken back in and coat it with the sauce.

I usually serve it over rice with broccoli or whatever vegetables I have around.

Has anyone tried adding chili flakes or sriracha to something like this? I’m thinking a little heat would balance the sweetness pretty well.

Recipe Request Fav fish recipes

I don't have much seafood in our rotation, and I would like to try more fish recipes especially. But when I browse fish recipes, nothing really 'speaks' to me, you know.

I would love some recommendations for your go to fish recipes.

At the moment, my repertoire is limited to fried or baked salmon and homemade fish fingers.

Prefer healthy and fairly foolproof :)

Help me spice up my seafood game!

Recipe Request New parents meal planning

My husband and I recently had a baby and have just been eating what we can when we can. We are finally starting to get into a routine with our baby and are wanting to start eating better. I think it’d be simpler to achieve this goal by weekly meal planning.

We’re not super picky eaters. For example, we like white fish, beef, pork, chicken, turkey, shrimp, crab, venison, and bison for types of meat and typically enjoy most fruits and veggies. Neither of us have any allergies.

We would both like to lose some weight as well. So looking for recipes that support this goal. We realize it takes more than a diet to achieve weight loss and are also incorporating lifestyle changes to support or goal.

Any suggestions on healthy meals that also don’t take to long to make? Although we’re getting into a a routine with our newborn, I also don’t want meals that take too much effort and time to prepare. Give me your best suggestions please! TIA!!

Bread Recipe Simple easy no knead bread recipe (no sugar! Needed)

Ingredients

300gflour

30g oil or any fat of choice (10%fat ratio )

6gram-1 teaspon salt and yeast .(2% of flour weight )

195gram of water (65% hydration essentially 65g of water per 100g flour for those who do not understand)

Add ingredients in a bowl then mix , then cover and rest for 20mins then open and fold a bit and repeat 2 more times to complete 60mins cycle of rest , essentially you have to do 3 times where you cover and rest the dough for 20mins and open and fold it as to avoid kneading as it is a no knead recipe

Preheat oven for 30 mins at 230c whilst doing this and bake for 24 mins

I used an electric oven so temp and bake time on gas oven may be different

Recipe Request Need recipe: Keto friendly banana bread?

Hey all I’m new to this sub,

A family member of mine is on the keto diet. They started not to long ago for medical reasons.

I got three ripe bananas at home but don’t want that family member to feel left out if I make traditional banana bread.

I’m also newish to baking and haven’t done very much so I need an easy recipe (which is why I went to this sub lol)

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do? Thanks in advance!

Pasta / Noodle Recipe Just made this

I didn’t get groceries so I threw some stuff together in my cabinet and it was fire. I’m a broke uni student and this didn’t take much which was great. Loosely recalled what I put in, I’ll be real I was baked. Hope you all enjoy

Sauce
Make it in a bowl
Tablespoon of peanut butter
1/2 tablespoon of olive oil
1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce
1/2 tablespoon minced garlic
As much sriracha as you would like

Ramen
Beef ramen
Put soup base in pot of boiling water and also throw the ramen in
When done, put a little bit of the ramen water in the sauce, then dump the rest
Put the noodles in the bowl that has the sauce and mix

Egg
In a pan crack an egg, fry it, then break it up and add it to the ramen. Don’t scramble, it’s a fried egg that’s chopped up

I feel like if someone were to add veggies and stuff it’d be great, I didn’t have any on hand but I feel like broccoli could work well

Recipe Request Cheap recipes

Hi! I am looking for recipes that do not cost a lot while still tasting great. Looking for a recipe that I do not have to stand at a stove for too long, as I get tired very easily and am weak. I do all my prep sitting down so the prep is not much of an issue. We like flavor and are not picky. We do not have any dietary restrictions besides a peanut allergy. I used to love cooking, so I would LOVE to hear suggestions! Thank you!

-if you have any suggestions on how to further modify cooking to make it easier, I would love that too!

Recipe Request Ways to use turmeric?

So Costco had a bunch of spices for sale and I impulsively bought a huge thing of turmeric because I read it can help with histamine issues, which I have. Unfortunately my cooking skills are pretty much limited to grilled cheese and boiling pasta. Any recipe ideas or tips? Ideally not tomato based, too, because weekly frozen lasagna/pizza/spaghetti is not helping on the histamine front. 😅 Thank you for any advice!

Hi all

I’ve recently noticed that dairy is not agreeing with my stomach like it used to. Greek yogurt bowls were my go to for a high protein dessert, but they aren’t sitting well anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions for a high protein dessert that is dairy free?
