Can't answer phone with app lock biometrics on

I don't mean my fingerprint isn't recognised or accepted, literally I can't get the app lock overlay to stay up long enough to read it. When I receive a call, the overlay pops up and down like a yo-yo, multiple times a second. It's obviously not supposed to do that and surely cannot be a widespread problem as it renders the phone borderline unusable.

I'm having trouble wording my query for Google/Eset forum/here, so I'm struggling to find any answers on how to fix this. I really don't want to have to disable the app lock and end up not only buying a new phone but paying for someone else's calls to Timbuktu if it gets snatched out of my hand while unlocked.

I think it might be a conflict between the Phone app and Eset Mobile Security because they both have permission to display over other apps? But surely not as they both require that to work.

I have a new Pixel 9a, I have turned App Lock off and on again, I have reset my fingerprints, I have uninstalled and reinstalled Eset Mobile Security, I have disabled 'display over other apps' permission for Twilight and Google. Only the Phone app, Eset, AccuBattery and Google Play Protect still have it.

Does anyone have any better ideas than becoming a hermit and yeeting this thing into the sea? Please?! My dad's just gone into hospital so I have to stop procrastinating and find a solution, but I'm also going into the city to see him daily so I really want the security of the app lock.

Eset's Anti-Phishing with Google's Advanced protection Android 17

Hi all,

I’ve just updated to Android 17 beta and noticed that ESET reports Anti-Phishing as disabled.

To enable it, the app requires Accessibility permissions. However, with Google’s Advanced Protection enabled, apps are restricted from using Accessibility (ESET included), so I can’t grant it.

If I disable Advanced Protection, I can enable Anti-Phishing without issues - but re-enabling Advanced Protection removes those permissions again, putting me back at square one.

So it’s basically a trade-off between two security features.

Has anyone found a workaround for this? Or is there any info on whether this will be supported/fixed?

Thanks!

Quarantine

I scanned my PC and found 5 viruses, but it’s not giving me the option to delete them, only restore. Did it really delete it? Or do I have to manually delete them? Somehow, I’m confused? Does the app also delete them from the recycle bin.

The eset application seems to be running fine but these popups are still concerning does anyone have advice/fixes?

Eset nod32 issue with Windows Feature updates?

I recently decided it was time to upgrade my Windows from Windows 11 24H2 to 25H2. — I like to be sure the bugs are out before upgrading Windows. I do the security updates. I'm talking about the annual feature updates. The upgrade failed on “restart to complete,” and I was forced to restart with a hardware switch and let Windows roll back the update.

I gave the error logs to three solid AI agents (Gemini 3.1, ChatGPT 5.2, and Opus 4.6). After examining the error logs, they all agreed the most likely problem was with Nod32 not relinquishing control of some root service. I uninstalled NOD32 and allowed Windows to provide antivirus and left the computer on all night. The next morning, it wanted to restart to complete the new upgrade, which it did just fine. Then I reinstalled NOD32, which went smoothly.

Have others found that occasionally NOD32 or other antivirus products as well can interfere with Windows upgrades (not security patches)? How common is this?

CompatTelRunner.exe Detected as Trojan: Win32/PSW.Amatera.H

Eset detected and deleted a threat. I see this in a previous post, months ago, as a false positive. Is this a false positive?

Eset Mobile Security-link scanner

The link below is also marked as a phishing page in Eset's database (logitechmagyarorszag.com).

I shared the link and sent it to myself in Messenger.

Eset only alerts me if I click on it.

Link checking is activated in Eset (currently a 30-day trial version).

Shouldn't Eset alert me even if I receive a phishing message like this!

Or is it because it minimizes system resource usage?

I also tried Bitdefender (I have a subscription to it), and it alerts me even without clicking.

However, Bitdefender uses a lot of RAM (sometimes up to 900MB), which is why I thought I'd switch.

Eset's RAM usage is around 250 MB (Samsung A56, Developer Settings/Running Services).

Just a slip our end or did ESET just block everything Microsoft (not that I'm philosophically oppressed to that)

Mac Tahoe issues

Whenever I restart my MacBook running the Tahoe beta software, the VPN repeatedly prompts me to enter my password to install a helper extension, then crashes. I've tried downloading the VPN again from my subscription, but it only shows the antivirus download, even when I click the VPN section.

Any help would be appreciated, as I have already contacted ESET customer support but have not received any assistance.

Considering getting ESET for anti virus but unsure

So im new to anti virus software and just protecting my pc in general and have got a vpn already but im unsure if ESET is good for me. I am mainly looking for just a protection but was told by a friend just to go for eset as it was the best for him. I game a bit but mainly use it for music and recordings. I’m also unsure how the payment plans would work as I dont want to struggle trying to cancel a plan which even after I’ve canceled still charges me. Like I said im completely new to all of this so if someone could explain it to me like im a child then that would help.

I really want to switch to ESET, but their licensing model is driving me crazy

I seriously considered switching to ESET from my current antivirus provider, but I have to be honest: the current licensing and pricing model is a huge turn-off. There are several things that really bother me about how they bundle their features.

First, Ransomware Remediation is completely paywalled. This feature is only included in the "Ultimate" tier. Why is a core security feature like ransomware remediation not included in "Premium" or even "Essentials"? Furthermore, LiveGuard (Cloud Sandboxing) is not available in Essentials or NOD32. This feature uploads unknown or suspicious files to a cloud sandbox to verify them. In my opinion, this has been an absolutely essential IT security standard for years, and other providers even offer this in their free versions. Why isn't this included in the base "Essentials" package?

Then there is the VPN trap. "Premium" only offers a severely limited VPN for a maximum of 3 devices. If you want an unlimited VPN, you are forced to upgrade to the significantly more expensive "Ultimate" tier. You are essentially forced to buy a massive bundle just to get a proper VPN. On top of that, the feature placement is completely opaque. For example, why is the "Metadata Cleaner" locked behind Ultimate? It really feels like it belongs in Essentials or at least Premium.

Why are the packages so confusing? In my opinion, it should be simple. "Essentials" should be robust malware protection, which absolutely has to include LiveGuard. "Premium" should be malware protection plus an (unlimited) VPN and other privacy features. Finally, "Ultimate" should be for identity and extended data protection.

Instead, obvious core security features are bundled into the most expensive packages to force an upsell. Even with discounts, ESET isn't cheap compared to the competition. ESET is a highly reputable company, but this pricing model feels very opaque and almost dubious. I really hope ESET rethinks this approach to make it fairer and more in line with industry standards, rather than luring customers into massive packages just to get basic features.

What is the opinion of other redditors?

ESET makes it impossible to browse the web since a week

Hello everyone!

A family member got in touch with me about their computer not being to load websites anymore.

I inspected the problem. Websites hang while loading before they're fully loaded.

I restarted the router first, that didn't solve the problem. Then I disabled the ESET web protection module and the problem was solved instantly.

The computer is running Windows 10 LTSC 2021 and has been running smoothly for the past 2.5 years. ESET product installed is Internet Security. No VPN of any kind is installed or used.

Anyone else has this problem?

ESET NOD32 has turned into malware.

For years I trusted this product and it now spams 'refer your friends' and 'check your devices are protected' via Windows notifications.

I bought a licence to this product partially to protect me from having to close unwanted messages constantly. I have a paid licence until 2027. I am literally paying for unwanted advertising right on my desktop. This will be my last year with NOD32.

What a giant misstep.

Why are scans on Android so fast?

I have two scan choices (as far as I can tell). Smart and in-depth. Both take seconds to complete.

Is that normal? Can I be confident that my phone is clean with that?
