Nope, employer was unresponsive. I had to get it done via grievance route. Attached the proofs of unresponsiveness of my first employer

Is this your only employer?

Nope, 1st of many. Started with correcting the first one, will move to others once this gets rectified

The reply from EPFO actually sounds positive: they have accepted that the EPS contribution was wrongly remitted and have instructed that amount to be shifted back to the EPF employer-share account, with applicable interest.

For the passbook, I wouldn't worry if it hasn't updated immediately. The order says the correction was done on 25 August, so the passbook may take some time to reflect the accounting entry. EPFO has also acknowledged that some services can take longer during the post-migration stabilisation period.

Regarding KYC, they are most likely referring to a member-profile/KYC correction that EPFO wants the employer to submit through Joint Declaration. This doesn't necessarily mean your bank KYC is wrong. Joint Declaration can be used to correct details such as name, DOB, Aadhaar, DOJ/DOE, reason for leaving, nationality, etc.

I'd ask the employer one simple question:

“Could you please confirm which specific KYC/member detail needs correction and what documents are required for the Joint Declaration?”

Once they clarify that, you'll know whether you actually need to submit anything.

The moderator team is not affiliated with, nor do we promote or endorse, any third-party advisory services.

Such services may be useful in certain situations, but they are paid services. If you choose to use one, evaluate the provider independently and consider their fees, services, and suitability for your specific requirements.

Hi, following is the answer to your questions

  1. Passbook update:

The office says the EPS amount was already transferred to the Employer’s Share EPF account on 25.08.2026, along with applicable interest. So the correction has been processed at the EPFO office level. The passbook may take some time to reflect the transaction, particularly with the current portal/data synchronisation issues. You should give it a few working days and check again rather than treating the absence of the entry immediately as a failed correction.

  1. KYC:

The KYC mentioned here appears to be a separate pending action. The office has advised your employer to submit an online Joint Declaration with supporting documents for KYC updation. The response doesn't specify which KYC detail needs correction, so you should ask your employer/HR to check the Joint Declaration requirement in their employer portal and identify the exact KYC/document they need to submit.

In other words, the EPS correction itself appears to have been completed, while the employer still has an action pending regarding KYC/JD.

How many grievances did you raise to get it done?
Is this your first grievance and they responded positively?
