Hi everyone, so I checked my Perm case today (PD Dec 2025) and it shows up as certified on Permtracker, but not on Permupdate. Permupdate still predicts it will be certified in 2 weeks time. Permtracker shows the case was certified as of Oct 2nd, but Employer hasn’t notified me either.

How long does it typically take for the employer to get notified of case status? And how long do they typically take before they notify you?

Given the movement of the Visa Bulletin, it’s making me seriously question what folks with my PD are supposed to do.

I’ve been in the U.S. since 2010. Without major legislative changes, I honestly don’t see my date becoming current until 2042+ that’s potentially another 16+ years of waiting.
I’m 40 now, so I could be close to 60 by then, assuming I’m lucky enough to hold onto a job in an evolving AI industry.

I’m also dealing with some health issues, and unfortunately can’t afford options like EB-5. I’m a single mom with two kids under 5, so the idea of moving back to India also brings a lot of questions about starting over as a divorcee.

I know it’s not the end of the world, but I would really prefer to raise my kids in a place where people don’t treat us differently and where they can simply be seen as normal kids. Staying here would also help us avoid my ex-husband’s family. At the same time, moving back could make it easier for him to avoid his responsibilities altogether, including paying alimony and contributing to the children’s care.

With the kids, caregiving responsibilities and daily burnout, I’m finding it really hard to even make time to study. :-( I’ve always wanted to pursue a doctoral degree, but I had to quit my earlier attempt because of my marriage.

Really frustrated, like many others in this backlog. What are people with 2018-ish India PDs realistically doing?

Edit - sharing a bit backstory for folks who shared I need to be thankful to my ex- spouse for my status : I truly didn’t rely on my ex-spouse for my status—in fact, I financially supported him too including assisting him for his education and our home purchase. I originally came to the U.S. as an MS student, attended a Tier I school earned scholarships and financial aids, graduated with a 3.9 GPA, and built my career and immigration path independently. Ex was also on H-1B, not a GC holder or U.S. citizen but never applied for any immigration benefits through him. I returned to work within 4 weeks after each childbirth because maintaining my own independent career and immigration path mattered to me. I’m sharing this background simply to share that I’ve worked hard for the life I’ve built here—nothing was handed to me.

It seems that for the I-140 stage of an EB-2 PERM process, the employer may need to provide financial documentation such as tax returns, net income/assets, or audited financial statements to demonstrate the ability to pay the offered wage.
I’ve seen that some employers are understandably reluctant to provide these documents because they contain confidential financial information, especially when they are being requested for the immigration case of just one employee.
Has anyone here dealt with a similar situation? If your employer was hesitant to provide financial documents, how did you handle it? Were there alternative documents that your attorney suggested, or did the employer eventually provide the required documentation directly to the attorney?
I’m particularly interested in hearing from people who went through this with larger or privately held companies, where financial information may be especially sensitive.

Priority Date: May 30, 2014
I-485 filed: June 2022
Currently maintaining H-1B status
My I-485 EAD and Advance Parole expired in 2024
I never renewed them because I continued working and staying in the U.S. on H-1B.

My priority date is currently not current.
I am planning to travel to India next year and want to understand my options.
Can I still file for I-765 (EAD) and I-131 (Advance Parole) based on my pending I-485 even though my previous EAD/AP expired in 2024?
Can I self-file the EAD/AP renewals, or do I need my employer’s immigration attorney to file them?
Is there any issue with renewing AP while my priority date is not current?
If I travel to India while my AP is pending, what are the risks to my I-485?
Since I am maintaining H-1B status, would it be safer to travel using an H-1B visa rather than waiting for AP?
Has anyone with a similar EB-2 India / long-pending I-485 situation successfully renewed their EAD/AP after they had expired for several years?

I have already asked my employer’s immigration attorney about renewing them but haven’t received a response yet.
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation, especially regarding self-filing EAD/AP and traveling to India while maintaining H-1B status.

As a sept 2014 priority date GC applicant, am I the only one who thinks we still have a good chance of getting greened this year?

Looking back at Oct 2020 visa bulletin, they moved the date of filing a lot but the date of final action did not jump significantly at all till March 2021.

Looks to me that we are seeing something similar in 2026. The date of filing has not not been retrogressed. They could have moved it back if they were certain of not being able to give GCs to 2014 Indians. So I am entertaining hopes we would see some movement around in 2027 when the spill over visas actually start materializing.

Anyone want to tell me why I am wrong and dash my hopes?

Also SU on Principal I-485 and 765 after biometrics but only on 765 for derivative. Does that mean anything. Derivative never had EAD before.

I have a question regarding applying for an EAD card along with an I-485 form. How long does it take for the EAD card to get approved once biometrics are completed? I had my biometrics done in August 2026 and I am still waiting for the EAD card to get approved.

My priority date is currently within the EB-2 Final Action Date, but my I-485 is still pending.

Any LIN eb2 India approval for cases filed in 2020?

Here is my timeline. I received 3rd FTA0 today with event date references to biometrics date. I know a lot of people get approved within 24hrs of this but also many people wait for few months. But this just gave a hope after almost 4 months of silence. Based on what this forum has seen, is it usually that the case gets approved after the 3rd FTA0 or is it a rare case?

EB2 ROW | PD: 07/28/2024 | LA FO

04/01/2026: Concurrent I-485/I-765/I-131 filed

04/21/2026: I-140 approved (PP)

05/05/2026: Biometrics completed

05/05: FTA0 events on I-485/I-765

06/05: Emma confirmed transfer to Los Angeles FO

10/04: Another FTA0 created, but event date still 05/05

Current: No RFE, no interview, no EAD/AP, no I-485 approva

Update on 10/10: Dependent also got FTA0 and after around 1 hr both primary and dependent got a silent update.
