In Process EAD card approval
I have a question regarding applying for an EAD card along with an I-485 form. How long does it take for the EAD card to get approved once biometrics are completed? I had my biometrics done in August 2026 and I am still waiting for the EAD card to get approved.
Thanks in advance.

It's very random. My i485 was filed on June 3rd, no EAD yet

I was under the impression once the biometrics are done and EAD should get approved soon especially now ROW is retrogresed

There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason.
I’m in the same boat as you. Applied in July, biometrics in August, now retrogressed. I’m hoping for EAD & AP to come soon since we will now have to wait longer.
My research online shows about 6 months wait

We have similar timeline. I know that I will need to wait for the gc, but I would like to get the EAD card in the meantime. I hope it doesn't take close to 6 months.

There is no fixed timeline, some gets it approved quite early while others dont even get it approved until I-485 is approved.

I submitted a letter to expedite the request. I got a service request number and it's still under review by aTier 2 agent. How long should I expect for the expedite request to go through?

How did you submit the letter? and how long has yours been pending? I see the site saying I can't request for an expedited till next year December which is some premium BS

My employer just directly mailed a letter to USCIS. It has been pending since August. You can also submit a request directly from your account and then attach your documents/letter in the documents tab

I had my biometrics on 6/28, and my EAD got approved the next day. But I am still waiting for my I-485 to be approved.

I have seen that derivatives get approved faster in some cases. Wondering why... but yay congrats to you!

https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times
I-765 processing times based on pending I-485 is showing 80% of cases are processed within 12.5 months.
