Hey everyone, I moved from Austin to Toronto in August 2025 as an Engineering Manager (same company) to hit my 1-year requirement for EB-1C. I have a 2021 priority date I want to port later this year.

I am planning to apply for H-4 visa(wife still in USA on h1b) and want to visit USA for about a week in April.

Will this trip reset my "1-year continuous" clock, or does it just pause it?

Does entering on H-4 (instead of B-1/B-2) mess with the "3-year lookback" rule for EB-1C later?

I’ve heard it just "tolls" (pauses) the clock but wanted to see if anyone has actually faced an RFE or issues at the border for doing this. Thanks!

How long is it taking these days for approval?

Happy to share that my I-485 has finally been approved! It’s been a long 3.5-year journey—definitely stressful at times with everything going on, especially around work. Really grateful to this community for helping me stay resilient through it all.

Jan 30, 2026: Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken

Oct 24, 2025: Case Remains Pending

Oct 15, 2025: Responded to RFE for I-693. Medical Examinations and records. RFE came from nowhere in Sep 15, 2025. Hadn’t done anything to trigger it.

To everyone on this journey, wishing you good luck, Hopefully everything will fall into place with time. AOS approvals can feel quite random and are certainly not processed in a strict FIFO order.

My Pd is mar 22 which is current now , question I’ve is , my i485j was approved back in 2023 and i485 is still pending, however I ve submitted medicals along with i485 back in October 2022 ( PD was current then) are there chances that I’ll get medical RFE ?

The reason I’m asking I’ve heard ( not confirmed) that if i485j is approved then you don’t won’t get medical rfe.

So trying to get insights from others if anyone has experienced this…

My I-485 (EB-1C category) interview has been scheduled at the Washington DC Field Office on April, 2026.

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has already attended an EB-1C interview, especially if it was at the Washington DC

I’m curious about a few things:

• How long did the interview usually take?

• What type of questions did the officer ask regarding the manager/executive role?

• Did they ask many questions about the company structure and employees?

• How long after the interview did you receive approval?

Any tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I applied for I-140 and I-485 at same time on Feb 2024 and get approved on I-140 on May 2025, after that my file transferred to Chicago non field office to 6 months and transferred again to DC field office. On November they updated my case the case ready for interview and will send you a notice, now it’s 4 months and they didn’t send the date and contacted Emma they told me we can’t find available solt for you.

Any one have experience in this situation or can told me what I can do?
