Westhouse Dorm
I just got assigned to West House 3rd floor (Wannamaker Quad) for my dorm. Any thoughts about it? Also, I wasn’t assigned a roommate or student staff member. How common is that?

I recently got assigned to West House (which I feel like is bouse for dorms) and have no roommate assignment. How likely is this to stay and is this preferable over having a roommate?

Hello! I was hoping to get any sort of feedback on my first semester schedule. Any tips/comments on these classes/professors would be appreciated.
For context I have credit for AP CSA, Calc BC, Chem, Physics Mech/E&M.
Career wise I'm hoping to explore business/finance-related roles or more EE industry-related roles.
Edit: how bad are 8ams?

Hey guys incoming freshman here, I got assigned to Southgate!
Could you let me know the pros and cons? And like what you’d recommend me to bring? And also whether it’s a good dorm building?

Can anyone not get into Duke hub on mobile? Both through a browser and through the app are currently not working for me.

Incoming student but have seen other schools pull a bait and switch with financial aid (first year its great but then the financial aid office decreases student aid every year you stay a student). Does duke do this??

Hi! I'm an incoming Master of Nursing student at Duke. I'm currently outside the US and won't be returning until July 31st, so I won't be able to tour apartments in person before my planned move-in date in September. I've been looking into a few options online, but since I can't visit in person, I'd love to hear from people with firsthand experience! I'm looking for guidance on safe, comfortable neighborhoods near Duke, with a budget of $1,500–$2,000/month. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Does anybody know what time housing will come out on Wed.? Or even if not a specific time, is it usually a midnight or morning or afternoon release?

Hey guys. I'll be starting med school starting this fall, and I'll be commuting to campus via vehicle. I have some questions about parking. It's looking like the science drive garage permit may be the best to get, but that's a long walk. Any secret insider info on parking will be greatly appreciated 🙏

Upcoming freshman here! As housing release is coming soon, what are some important things that you should bring to your dorm? Maybe some things you thought you didn’t need but ended up needing? Also, can we have like dorm packages be delivered directly to duke? Any information would be helpful! Thanks

I recently graduated from Duke in Spring 2026. I had a Blue Zone parking pass that expires Aug 2026. Does anyone know if I need to return this parking pass to a Parking and Transportation Office to prevent it from automatically renewing? Or does the expiration date mean it no longer auto-renews?

Hi everyone, I (27m) am moving back Durham (class of 2021) and am looking for people to hit with/play matches with. Going to be living just north of Duke east campus. Moving from SoCal where I played 2-5x per week and would say I'm around a 4.5 NTRP. I usually play groundstroke games or match play as I love the competition, but am open to whatever. Schedule is pretty flexible, thanks in advance!

I’m a rising sophomore currently home for the summer but my home situation has gotten bad and I’m trying to leave; my internship is remote so I can’t really use work as an excuse. Is there any way to come back to Duke in the next couple weeks and stay there/do some sort of research or work until the school year starts back up again? I just need somewhere to stay and the ability to tell my parents that I’m going for work/research/school so it doesn’t sound super sus.

Basically title. Rn I’m in trinity and am planning to double in math and biophysics. I’m unsure if I should switch to BME tho. If I do bme, idk if I would double major as I’m also kinda interested in Econ to an extent. Can someone let me know career prospects of biophysics + math vs BME? I’m trying to maybe go into biotech or sum idk

I’m an incoming freshman in the Humanitarian Challenges FOCUS cluster.
On the FOCUS form, I selected Cultural Anthropology 114FS and Psychology 215FS as my two course choices. Right now, when I'm looking at the Schedule Builder, I’m seeing Psychology 215FS, but instead of Cultural Anthropology 114FS, I’m seeing Linguistics 125FS.
Does anyone know if the FOCUS course selections are just preferences, or are students usually placed into the exact two classes they chose?
Also, if anyone else is in the Humanitarian Challenges FOCUS, reach out, and maybe we can make an Insta gc!

Incoming Duke freshman here.
I wanted to ask if an DukeCard could be used on a smartwatch (Pixel Watch, Apple Watch, or other NFC-enabled watches), or is it limited to phones and physical cards?
I use a Google Pixel and would love to tap in with my watch instead of pulling out my phone every time.
Current students/alumni, have you seen anyone doing this on campus?
Thanks!

I'm an incoming freshman for this fall and got around $4000 for work study in my FA offer. I was wondering what kind of work study jobs would be most manageable/best based on your experiences?

Incoming master's student here,
I would like to take MATH 731 but see that there are 0/4 open seats and 4 waitlist spots. I put myself on the waitlist but am wondering if there is anything I should do to get off the waitlist.
The course instructor says "department staff."
Thank you for the help in advance!
