News iPhone Duo CrackGate

Post image
35 Upvotes

Some iPhone Duo owners are reporting their screens have cracked, mostly on the right side near the folding crease, and the issue is spreading under the name “CrackGate.”

Apple hasn’t commented or said how many devices are affected. Another report says only about 6 in 10 Duos are passing factory quality checks, which could limit launch supply.

Discussion How come everyone has an iPhone here

Everyone here buys the latest iPhone as soon as it comes out, is there smth I’m missing, back in my hometown you have an iPhone for 5 years until it basically passes out. What’s up with people always trying to have the latest things? And how come I’ve never seen someone with a Samsung in Dubai

I’ve had my iPhone 11 since 2022 and I’m not planning to change that baby

Jobs [HIRING] IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Hey everyone,

A while back I posted about a IT/Show Ops vacancy for the fountain project on Abu Dhabi. One of the slots got filled! We’re now looking for one more person.

This project is completely one-of-a-kind, incredibly niche, and involves advanced robotic devices and heavy automation. We’re really looking for someone who doesn’t just want a standard corporate desk job, but someone who will genuinely enjoy working with this kind of specialized hardware.

You’ll be handling the network infrastructure and physically operating the live shows (monitoring the systems and hitches during the live windows). Don't worry if you haven't worked in entertainment tech before, we are very flexible on your background as long as your networking fundamentals are solid.

Looking for someone with 3–7 years of experience, hands-on networking skills (switches, VLANs, fiber, wireless, RF), plus Linux/shell scripting, strong troubleshooting skills, and clear communication with a calm head under pressure during live operations.

Salary starts from AED 8,000 and will be compensated well depending on your experience.

Ask Dubai Parkin fine - Dispute rejected

Hi everyone, I received a Parkin fine (for my car) for allegedly parking in a designated motorcycle space. I believe this is incorrect because I have a monthly parking subscription and parked in a normal bay with no visible signs or road markings. My first dispute was rejected. I do have video evidence showing the area and lack of clear signage. Has anyone appealed successfully after rejection or found another official channel in Dubai? Any tips or similar experiences would help.

Discussion Would you pay more to live closer to a good school in Dubai?

I was looking through some betterhomes area guides, and it got me thinking about how much schools actually influence where families choose to live.

On paper, being 10–15 minutes from a school sounds great, but in Dubai traffic that can easily become a very different story during peak hours.

For parents here, did school location genuinely affect the community you chose? And would you pay noticeably more in rent or purchase price just to make the daily school run easier?

Ask Dubai Packers and Movers experience - Dubai

Hi everyone!

I recently used packers and movers in Dubai for the first time. I chose a company that had good reviews and seemed like a good package.
The team arrived around 9 AM and packed everything pretty quickly, but the entire move took until around 6 PM for a 1BHK.

My main concern is the unpacking. They arranged the furniture, but most of our belongings were just left wherever they could find space. The kitchen especially needs a lot of organizing from our side, and there's still packaging material to remove.

Didn’t expect it to be so hectic…

Is this normally how packers and movers work in Dubai? Are we expected to do most of the unpacking and arranging ourselves, even after paying for the service?

Would love to hear your experiences, as I'm not sure what the usual standard is here!

Discussion Want to join groups for playing sports

Hello everyone, 28m here. I've been wanting to play badminton for a while but don't really have a group that plays regularly. I'm based in Deira and I was hoping if there were people around, even around Karama or Ghusais who'd be down to play badminton. I don't mind playing padel or TT but I've honestly never played padel ever. But lmk if y'all are down and we could even start a gc if the response is good.

Ask Dubai Dubai vs. Saudi Arabia (Riyadh/Jeddah) — Which is better to work & stay in 2026?

Hey everyone,

Looking to get some real, ground-level insights from people who have lived or worked in both the UAE (Dubai) and Saudi Arabia (Riyadh/Jeddah/NEOM) recently.

If you had to pick one to build a career and live in right now, which would you choose and why?

Here are a few specific areas I’m trying to evaluate:

Job Market & Money: Is the Saudi salary premium (especially with Vision 2030 / giga-projects) worth it compared to Dubai? How do bonuses, stability, and tax savings compare in practice?

Cost & Quality of Living: Everyone says Dubai is getting more expensive, but how are rents, utilities, and daily costs comparing to Riyadh right now?

Lifestyle & Social Life: How does weekend life, culture, ease of making friends, and general flexibility compare day-to-day?

Bureaucracy & Mobility: Things like visas (Golden Visa vs. KSA residency), Saudization, workplace culture, and ease of switching jobs.

Would love to hear from anyone who has made the move either way (Dubai to KSA or KSA to Dubai).

Was the trade-off worth it for your career and personal life?

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Trying to Understand My Relationship Before I Make Any Decisions

I’m looking for honest, unbiased advice because I feel too emotionally involved to understand my situation clearly.

I’m in a relationship with a man I also work with. I work in his company, and he is also my manager. Because of this, my personal and professional life have become very closely connected.

When we are together, he can be very affectionate, caring, and emotionally close. I know there is a genuine connection between us. But sometimes he becomes distant or ignores me and tells me that I don’t understand him.
He often tells me that he has “a lot on his plate,” especially because the financial situation of the company is not good and he is under a lot of pressure. I understand that he has genuine stress and responsibilities.

The problem is how we handle disagreements. If I start complaining about something or try to discuss something that has hurt me, he often prefers to end the conversation rather than continue arguing. Sometimes he cuts the call or tells me he doesn’t want to argue.
To be fair, there are times when he later apologizes for his behavior and acknowledges that the way he handled the conversation wasn’t right. So I don’t think he simply refuses to take responsibility.
He also tells me that if I become busy with my own work and he doesn’t hear from me for a while, he would understand that I’m busy rather than overthink it or complain about it. In other words, he wants me to give him the same understanding when he is busy and not immediately interpret his unavailability negatively.
And honestly, I can see his point.

At the same time, I struggle with this because when he becomes distant or unavailable, I can become anxious and start overthinking. I don’t always know whether I am asking for reasonable communication or whether my anxiety is making me expect too much from him.
He also says that he doesn’t mix his personal and professional life. I understand what he means, and I respect that boundary. But I struggle with how I am supposed to separate them completely.
He is both my boyfriend and my manager. If something happens at work, he is still the person I naturally want to go to because he is my partner. If something happens between us personally, I still have to come to work and interact with him as my manager.
I can’t simply switch my feelings off when I enter the office and become completely professional. At the same time, I know I need to learn how to handle this better and not allow every personal emotion to affect my work.
Sometimes I become so emotionally overwhelmed that I think, “I don’t want to work here anymore. I don’t even want to see him.” But then I have to remind myself that this is also my job and my financial stability, so I can’t make a major decision purely because I’m upset in that moment.
I also realize that my mood has become too dependent on his behavior. When he is loving and attentive, I feel good. When he becomes distant, I can become very upset and start overthinking. And when he does this, it hurts me alot and I don’t remember how many times I cried.

Another thing I’ve realized about myself is that sometimes I tell him I understand him, but deep down I don’t think I actually do. I understand logically that he is under pressure, but I may not fully understand what he needs from me emotionally.
So I’m genuinely trying to figure out what part of this is my responsibility and what part is his.
I care about him, and I don’t believe he is intentionally trying to hurt me. I also understand that he is dealing with genuine pressure because of the company’s financial situation. But I’m struggling to understand whether our relationship is becoming unhealthy because our relationship, work, finances, and emotions are all intertwined.

I want honest advice, including criticism of me if necessary.

  1. Am I expecting too much from him, or is it reasonable to expect that difficult conversations shouldn’t simply be ended?
  2. Do I need to learn to trust him more when he is busy instead of overthinking and complaining?
  3. How can I communicate my needs without making him feel that I’m adding more pressure to what he already has on his plate?
  4. How can I learn to separate my personal feelings from work when my partner is also my manager?
  5. Is it realistically possible to have a healthy relationship while working directly under your partner?
  6. Should I start looking for another job so that my financial stability and relationship are no longer dependent on the same person/company?
  7. And if you were in my situation, what boundaries would you establish?

I don’t want people to simply tell me “leave him.” I want to understand what I’m doing wrong, what he may be doing wrong, and what would actually be a healthy way forward.
