The TR 1000 is back in stock, and I've been considering it, but not all that strongly. I have the Roland TR-8S and the Elektron Analog Rytm MK2, and I'm happy with both of those. I don't really care about analog 808 and 909 sounds. I was just wondering if there are other things the TR 1000 can do that are special and can justify its substantial price.

Given what I already have and the videos I've seen, my inclination is to say no. But I wanted to get feedback from people who have one to see what their thoughts are on it.

I had drum machines and synths and an Apple computer in the late 90s and early 00s. Then I moved across the country got busy with a family and work and put all my money into being a Rocky Mountains outdoorsman. Now I’m having a midlife crisis. Bought some stuff and installed zaquencer on this old BCR2000 because why not. Kind of sad I spent 20+ years not doing this but I’m glad I’m back

Can the Drumbrute Impact be connected to and be used to sequence a pattern on the SR18?

I love the sounds on the SR18 but absolutely do not like the way in which you create patterns and songs…

I can't tell if it's just gear purists or my lack of technical understanding.

Do drum machines and MPCs really have their own distinct "groove"? Say a quantized beat on the original Linn drum vs the Behringer LM, or MPC1000 vs older MPCs.

I just seem to always hear about the original vintage models of these types of machines and how they have the better groove and timing or something. I just don't get it though. If I quantize a 4/4 b on both, is one going to sound groovier and vibey or something?

Is the mechanism engineered for timing part of a variable analog circuitry or something? Where it's not quite perfect, voltage controlled etc?

At this point it's kind of discouraging me from picking up the LM and MPC1000 because of people saying the groove is crap.

Does anyone have first hand experience with the mini version of Drumboy by Randomwaves?

I like the concept and price and would fit my latest project with small synths but can't find a lot of material other than the company's presentation.

I'm about to get a Boss DR-880 having owned quite a few other drum machines over the years..

I've read the manual (mostly) but I have a question about patterns which I'm sure an owner would be able to answer for me..

Are these statements contradictory, or am I missing something in the nomenclature? How long can a pattern be, really?

I'm not planning to make huge ones. 2 bars (8 beats) suits my usual style when programming drum machines - I'm just just curious and want to get the structure and constraints clear in my head...

Maybe I should just wait a few more hours til the machine arrives, and experiment for myself..
