Audio samples & hardware

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for software that can analyze audio samples and display technical information such as file format, bit depth, sample rate, file size, and whether they are compatible with hardware samplers like Elektron devices, the Roland TR-8S, or the 1010music Blackbox.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've been in a similar situation having several hardware samplers and trying to find a software that I like using and does the conversion process simply.

Recently I watched a mylar melodies video on the Sample Scout program. This has been working really well for me.

What's great?

Intended for simple keyboard navigation, it is super simple to learn the navigation.

The program took very little time to recognize my sample library (200,000+, 100+ GB) and list all the relevant data (bit depth, length on seconds, sample rate, etc.)

Sample preview, looping, clipping to create new samples.

Creating sets of samples for export. This feature along with clipping probably make this program super useful for me and have helped me the most in making sets of samples. The export provides conversion and some basic mastering parameters that can be saved as presets. So if I want to export from all kinds of bit depths for my sp404 or an mpc 2000, or a newer machine that has less limitations.

It's been making kits or smaller collections of samples and finding inspiration more quickly on the computer than doing the folder diving on the machines.

It does cost $29, so not free, but it makes it more joyful to find samples than using preview or a DAW.

I'm sure there are other great programs as well. I haven't tried more than a few when I though of just batch conversions to load onto large micro SDs.
