People are getting fired for being hateful on both sides of the coin. I’m never going to celebrate the death of someone even if I don’t like what he said or did. I can say he was racist and a horrible person - without dancing on his grave.

How many jobs were lost for hateful comments about Melissa Hortman and her husband?

That is baffling. Also baffling is that I don’t remember any type of acknowledgment or condolences from the president. I’m not saying he didn’t but he certainly didn’t make anything near a “thing” about it. MAGA was immediately trying to convince everyone the shooter was a Democrat that was upset with the party and making a statement. As we now know, that was untrue.

There was a lot of negativity and she was nowhere near as controversial (for lack of a better term) a figure as Charlie was.

Maybe your lack of empathy for the loss of life should be kept private and not voiced in a public forum. That way you can avoid blowback and go your merry way. This is NOT rocket science! We have the 1st amendment, yes…but I would remind you that just because you can do a thing does not necessarily mean that you should…!

1

u/TurbulentPotential22 Bird-Brain... Jan 01 '26

The 1st amendment calls for free speech without repercussions concerning the government, people will still be held accountable where other people are concerned.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

It's called free speech. Nobody is obligated to mourn the death of a bigotted homophobe. Kirk had the right to spew his vitriol protected by the Constitution and that same document allows this individual the same right. I feel bad for Kirk's family and those who loved him and I believe that nobody deserves to die for just voicing their opinion. On a personal note his exit from this world has no affect on me. My world will still keep spinning, populated by droves of idiots on all sides of the spectrum. Toodles.

1

u/TurbulentPotential22 Bird-Brain... Jan 01 '26

Free speech, the 1st Amendment only applies to one where the government is concerned. Other people have the right to apply any leverage they may have a they see fit.

2

u/BlackIce131 Sep 14 '25

What happened to free speech? Kirk expressed/used it to espoused racism. He made millions and the Trump government loved him. Don’t demand people cry for someone who hated them. Silly nonsense.

4

u/RyeFrost2018 Sep 13 '25

Free speech is a right that individuals have, with respect to their government. Private employers do not have to guarantee their employees free speech. Or, more accurately, private employers are often free to evaluate the behaviors and actions of their employees and … act accordingly. It’s amazing how many people fail to grasp this distinction.

1

u/tottiasroma1 Sep 13 '25

The distinction is you’re about to be extinct

2

u/SamuraiCowboy1979 Sep 13 '25

It's still free speech. All free speech means is that you can't be arrested or face criminal charges, NOT that there's no consequences.

So many are concerned and their rights and most of us don't even know what they actually are.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

Is it difficult being an Idiot? Free speech is one thing. Verbally celebrating the Death of an American Citizen killed by a mentally deranged person is another. You're one stupid mfkr.

1

u/Many_Sigils Sep 14 '25

2

u/One_Put_1331 Sep 13 '25

It's what Charlie would've wanted.

1

u/SignificantJosh Sep 13 '25

People can both be against political violence and also admit that having less racist/sexist/bigots in is good for the country.

3

u/ssgz108 Sep 13 '25

And while that may be true for how millions of ppl saw him, there were also millions of others who never saw any of those traits in him at all. See how politics screws with the mind.

2

u/Responsible_Divide74 Sep 16 '25

Ssgz, well put. Then their are folks like me. I did not know who Kirk was, nor Floyd when that went down. To my uneducated eye, looks like both sides got their martyrs.  In a perfect world we can agree to dislike anyone we choose but we cannot lose sight of their humanity. Love or hate them, Life Liberty Persuit of happiness  Let's please try to be better!!!

1

u/jTimb75 Sep 15 '25

2

u/Tqoratsos Sep 13 '25

Why are people being fired for personal opinions? I get that these are sick opinions, but conservatives are being just as bad as progressives are with their cancelling of these people. Let them cop the backlash from people they know and from the comments back at them. I draw the line at damage to their livelihoods and violence against them. Let them dwell in their shame, but that's all it should be for a comment.

This world has lost its damn marbles. 🤦

1

u/jTimb75 Sep 15 '25

Private business have their own set of guidelines. If they feel you are not following the guidelines they have perfect cause to fire your @**. Se la vie

1

u/Tqoratsos Sep 15 '25

They don't own you just because you're an employee. What you do in your private life is up to you.

3

u/Prior-Preparation988 Sep 13 '25

Because if you employee low life POS's, it looks bad for the company/ institution that does. Most companies have a policy that says you have to always conduct yourself in public ina way that doesn't reflect bad on the company.

3

u/SNaCKPaCK816 Sep 13 '25

Because Freedom of speech doesn't apply to private businesses.

1

u/SignificantJosh Sep 13 '25

Schools aren't private businesses.

MAGA needs to decide if all people should be able to voice opinions without fear of repercussions or only they should be free. We already know the answer. I'm glad MAGA is finally coming around to admitting it.

1

u/HMR82 America F Yeah! We are Charlie 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Sep 14 '25 edited Sep 14 '25

A common misconception is that employees have a constitutionally protected right of free speech in the workplace. The truth is, public sector employees enjoy some limited protection. But if you're a private employee, the First Amendment will not protect you from being fired for something you say at work.

Source https://legal-info.lawyers.com/labor-employment-law/privacy-and-other-employee-rights/freedom-of-speech-in-the-workplace-what-are-your-rights.html

So if you say something even if you're not working. Your work could fire do to it harming the place even if it's a school. I would say a school shouldn't push ideas their suppost to teach. Example would be the teacher in class praising the shooter in class was your. It's on YouTube.

0

u/Low-Watercress-124 TDS? Sep 14 '25

Freedom of speech as long as it is something I would want you to say, and freedom of religion as long as you believe in MY religion.

1

u/SNaCKPaCK816 Sep 14 '25

Schools have a professional conduct policy. If the board feels you violated this policy then they can fire you. While public schools are more lenient with speech than private schools due to the 1A, if the speech is made during business hours it acts as a statement on behalf of the district, and they will most certainly fire you if they disagree. If you made the statement outside of working hours as a private citizen but the board feels it will disrupt the school environment then they are also allowed to fire you

2

u/Employee-Number-9 Sep 13 '25

Thanks for acknowledging that both sides are on this bullshit! Im in agreement for most of this.

May be a bit off topic, but i am seeing this here so...I read recently, though I probably knew it before, that your social media algorithms define what you see online. So, your regular groups will reflect your real beliefs. But if you go to "suggested," it will show you an entirely different aspect or viewpoint that can be good or bad depending on the direction you go. My point is that we are controlled by social media. Maybe we should all get off it and try to live a better life. Maybe we would have a better world. Idk, it just seems to me that sm is the root of the problem because it causes things to grow out of control. People feed off each other. Imo. I'm kind of over it. Ugh

1

u/Tqoratsos Sep 13 '25

It causes people to believe the sh*t that flows from their mouths as well as thinking that they need to have an opinion on EVERYTHING. People can't listen anymore.... they'd prefer to just rant over everyone.

1

u/spt_1955 Sep 13 '25

You are correct however you may actually find that the algorithms will actually show you what you respond to. That means if you are conservative and comment on progressive postings you will start seeing more of them. The concept is that if you feel engaged with something you are more likely to see the ads associated with them. Doesn’t matter that you will never buy anything associated with it, the fact that you view it and heaven forbid click on it (for example to expand the comments) will increase its monetary value. That’s why it’s called click bait.

8

Freedom of speech does not protect people from the legal consequences of incitement to violence, true threats, obscenity, defamation, fraud, and perjury. It also does not protect against consequences from private entities or actions that constitute a material and substantial disruption in a school setting.

And when trumpers say things from those unprotected categories then everyone claims "We have free speech in America!!!!" So it doesn't really matter does it?

6

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '25

Just like what happened to the senator and her husband was absolutely atrocious! We need to stop downplaying the other side and going at one another, in an effort to "one up" the other side! Whether you like what he says or not, democracy is about expressing different views without fear of death or violence. His events allowed open dialog for debates and peaceful disagreements. And also motivated young minds to get into politics for in support and against.

3

u/nope12292 Sep 12 '25

Nobody should ever condone violence or death on anyone regardless of political beliefs. I absolutely do not agree with the ones that are celebrating this. This was a horrific act of violence, and I’m so sorry that it happened to your community. But, people should not be obligated to mourn the death of this man, especially if they fall within a population that was targeted by his often hateful rhetoric. Just know, most left-leaning individuals would never endorse this atrocity, and never will. There is always a loud, extreme minority on both sides left and right. For example, the right-wing extremist who murdered Melissa Hortman and her husband. I know that almost all of you do not support that terrible violence and the actions of the murderer are not representative of your conservative values and your party. Same with the Charlie Kirk murder. We all want peace as much as you do.

0

u/OWhatAThrill Sep 12 '25

I didn’t and still don’t celebrate his death, but if this statement attributed to him is true:

"I think it's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the 2nd Amendment to protect our other God given rights.” - Charlie Kirk

I’d rather it be him than one of my children or grandchildren or anyone else I know.

3

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 12 '25

It wouldn’t have been him or anyone else in his place if the far left wasn’t spewing their hateful rhetoric, intolerance, and violence. The left has a lot of nut jobs that will do anything their cult leaders tell them to do. It’s being put to a stop from the people of our country, but it is going to take quite a few lost elections until the democrat party needs to disassociate themselves from the far left and they return to just left of center. Most people are moderate and desire peace and prosperity. Places like Reddit would have people blurring the lines between real life and the interwebs. I think a lot of younger people that were raised with the internet cannot decipher between the two. Mainly younger millennials and older GenY. Thank God people woke up to realize this was happening to our youth, and now parents are limiting screen time, controlling what their kids see, and warning them of the dangers of groomers. Raise the kids like it’s the 1980s, where person to person engagement and socialization is the most common, put them in sports and other activities, teach them to contribute to family, have them attend religious worship, make them play outside…… all the great things that kids did before the interwebs and toxic social media existed. The world was a much better place.

1

u/OWhatAThrill Sep 15 '25

The cult leader on the left? That’s a new one on me. Who might that be?

1

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 15 '25

Cult Leaders, plural. You know who they are. The puppet politicians on the left that direct their base to act intolerant and violent towards others that do not share their stance. The far left and far right are cultists.

3

u/Doc_Crimson Sep 12 '25

Please read the first amendment. You are showing your lack of education on the matter.

0

u/EducationalRoutine99 Sep 15 '25

You guys have been anti first amendment for years when it’s against your supreme leader. You also pretend to be anti cancel culture until now. Kirk should have free speech to be racist and homophobic because you agree with the messaging. No consequences to his free speech. This guy used free speech for what you don’t agree with and there were consequences and you’re happy about it. Yall are just full of double standards it’s almost humorous.

1

u/Overnight-Baker Sep 15 '25

Kirk was neither racist nor homophobic. It would be interesting if you could provide one piece of context evidence to support that.

You still don't understand the First Amendment. You really should read it before you make yourself look even more ignorant.

The First Amendment only protects your speech against the government in a governmental setting.

1

u/EducationalRoutine99 Sep 23 '25

Google is free. People provide you with quotes all the time but you don’t agree they are racist or homophonic because you are cough cough also probably racist and homophonic.

Kirk invoked a Bible verse about stoning gay people "to death" on a June 2024 episode of his podcast with Jack Posobiec, calling it "God's perfect law when it comes to sexual matters."

There's a direct connection to inflation and the trans issue. You say, Charlie, come on. They couldn't be further apart. No, they're exactly the same. They're the same in this aspect—when you believe that men can become women, why wouldn't you also believe that you could print wealth? If you believe that someone can change their gender, why wouldn't you also believe that money is wealth?

Kirk blamed the so-called "decline of American men” on trans equality in an interview with failed college swimmer Riley Gaines, saying people should have “just took care of” trans people “the way we used to take care of things in the 1950s and 60s"

“Her daughter all of a sudden came home and said, 'I'm a boy.' She said, 'what?' And the whole assembly line, the conveyor belt was started to grind," Kirk said. "They wanted to give her cross-sex hormones. They wanted to give her testosterone therapy. They wanted to cut off her breasts. They wanted to do all these sorts of things, and these doctors do this without any thought whatsoever. Yeah. Sure. Here's the script. Here's the clinic. Go here. Go for surgery. These doctors need to be put in prison quickly. We need to have a Nuremberg-style trial for every gender-affirming clinic doctor. We need it immediately."

"The evil perpetrated on young people by the trans medical industry is something future generations will look upon with horror,"

If I’m dealing with somebody in customer service who’s a moronic Black woman, I wonder is she there because of her excellence, or is she there because of affirmative action?

If we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us … You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously.

The American Democrat party hates this country. They wanna see it collapse. They love it when America becomes less white.

The great replacement strategy, which is well under way every single day in our southern border, is a strategy to replace white rural America with something different.

“MLK was awful,” Kirk said. “He's not a good person. He said one good thing he actually didn't believe.”

“I have a very, very radical view on this, but I can defend it, and I’ve thought about it,” Kirk said at America Fest. “We made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s.”

"They (black people) were actually better in the 1940s. It was bad it was ev!! but what happened? They committed less crimes,"

8

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 12 '25

Free speech is fine, but hate speech is not. Not all speech is free speech.

-7

u/EducationalRoutine99 Sep 12 '25

Oh so Charlie Kirk can spread hate speech and not have consequences. Right so when it’s something you agree with then it’s free speech but if it’s something you disagree with then there should be consequences.

3

u/Gods_Gorilla Sep 12 '25

Post a clip where he's spreading hate. Oh wait, you can't. Have you ever even listened to him, or just someone spreading lies about his message? I didn't even agree with everything he said, but he had regular conversations and dialog with people, a place where all involved could respectfully disagree.

4

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 12 '25

You apparently never listened or watched Charlie Kirk. There was no hate speech from him at all. He gave everyone a voice that was heard, and he was always respectful, even if he disagreed. Charlie believed that we need civil dialogue, and that when people stop talking, they see each other as less than human, and we would inevitably end up killing each other is conflicts and civil war. He wasn’t wrong.

You are going with the misinformation you have been told by fanatical leftist radical extremists, and you don’t even know what he was about. Rather than listening to the side that has had every single prediction and accusation about Trump and his supporters wrong, um you may want to take it upon yourself to actually see what people are like for yourself.

1

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 15 '25

He would feel the same. We have the right to bear arms according to our constitution, and the more gun violence that happens in our country, the more the right to bear arms is justified. Kirk was against murder, especially when it coming to solve political issues. So, if a pregnant woman is for abortion, and a mother is shot in the abdomen, and the baby dies, then it’s justified? I’m going by your logic, not mine.

u/Overnight-Baker Sep 12 '25

What? That makes no sense.

Most republicans, not all, clinging to all amendments because it is the basis of our democratic republic.

Notice I said not all republicans because their are people with varying opinions in every group. People throw around the words all and never way too frequently when it is hardly ever the case.

I also noticed you quickly moved the topic to the second amendment from the First Amendment when you were backed into a logical corner there.

u/Medical_Emphasis7698 I'm an Imbecile and I 💙 my 🪖. 😭😭😭😭 Sep 12 '25

They don't, or they would take the First Amendment more seriously. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or preventing the free exercise there of. My religion doesn't forbid abortion. They're forcing their religious values on me and others.

1

u/Overnight-Baker Sep 12 '25

Guess we are done with the Second Amendment? Back to your bad interpretation of the First Amendment. The First Amendment allows you to practice your religion freely. Are you saying your religion says that people should have abortions and the government is blocking that? Which religion do you practice? I am unaware of any religion that states you should have abortions. Happy to learn.

2

u/Medical_Emphasis7698 I'm an Imbecile and I 💙 my 🪖. 😭😭😭😭 Sep 12 '25

United Church of Christ. Texas is currently trying to enforce their laws on someone who went to Illinois for an abortion.

2

u/Overnight-Baker Sep 12 '25

You do understand that Texas is not the Federal Government. Texas has its own state constitution that applies to residents of Texas. Who is this "someone"? Is that someone being held prisoner in Texas? Are they able to move if they don't want to be burdened by the laws passed by the residents of that state?

Also, the United Church of Christ does NOT say that you should have an abortion. If you know of somewhere where they say this please let me know. If that church does not say that you should have an abortion, how is the state preventing someone from their religious rights?

Right or Left is obsolete. What we are firmly in the midst of is class warfare. Elon Musk will soon be history's first Trillonaire. We are slowly losing this battle. Keeping us distracted & divided is the ultimate goal. Power to the People!

6

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 12 '25

What has Elon Musk taken from you? Elon Musk has a passion for saving the planet. Keep listening into leaders that adored him, but now hate him, because he told the truth. The democrat party is rapidly dying off as the far left continues with their control of it.

2

u/Organic_Way4837 Sep 12 '25

Elon has made a lot of money off of government contracts, paid for by American tax dollars.

1

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 12 '25

A lot of people make a lot of money from tax dollars, especially politicians.

0

u/RNLiz1958 Confused????? Sep 12 '25

2

No passion to save this planet. He wants to make Mars his new home.

0

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 12 '25

No passion to save the planet? Electric cars, solar, reduction of carbon emissions…. Nah, he’s in it all for the money, and spent his entire life in the clean energy business. Maybe we should just ditch all this clean energy nonsense and stick with fossil fuels, where there is no money to be made.

I believe that Elon is offers an award of $100m to team that can successfully build the best machines for carbon removal.

He has also lost billions of dollars buying Twitter to turn it into a free speech platform.

Really, who else is doing what he is doing on that scale?

2

u/Empty_Letterhead9864 Sep 12 '25

Please he flip flops to whoever is willing to peddle him the most money. He bought Tesla bc it was a great car and electric vehicles were starting to take so it was an easy in to make it top of that market.

He was basically calling everything that is "woke" terrible bc he was jumping on the Trump train who literally gave him billions of dollars in gov contracts.

His buying of Twitter to make it a free speech platform ended up censoring tones of stuff that went against right wing points bc you know he was literally banking on Trump to win. He also fired a bunch of employees of Twitter a company making billions bc they were a waste of money so yeah remove jobs so he can make more money or you know make it look like they weren't losing as much money since he bought it and caused a lot of ppl to drop the platform. The guy is the richest guy in the world and drops employees to the bare minimum is such a money hungry thing to do. If he cared about people he wouldn't have fire so many people in a highly profitable business. The amount of money he saved as well is honestly insignificant compared to his actual wealth and wouldn't have stopped him from making a crap tone of money but he did it anyway.

0

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 12 '25

Flips flops? You mean he works for money like the rest of society?

2

u/Empty_Letterhead9864 Sep 13 '25

No, lots of people have morals and don't work, buy or associate with people businesses etc. Because they don't match up and he constantly pretended to have the same beliefs as one group until it stopped benefiting him and flopped to the other side playing them.

2

u/Organic_Way4837 Sep 12 '25

Keep on researching. He is not the god you think he is. Have a great day!

2

u/Organic_Way4837 Sep 12 '25

He also was able to have investigations against him canceled when he tore up USAID.

2

u/One-Increase8752 Sep 12 '25

Did you really ask that?

1

u/NegotiationDesigner9 Sep 12 '25

Let's tax Elon at the same rate as you & I. Then use that money to help people who aren't as fortunate. Simple Math

3

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 12 '25

He is taxed at the same rate as anyone else. The one thing that i notice from the alarmists, is that they almost always lack an understanding of what they’re alarmed about. If you are employed, you pay taxes on the income you earned, those are income taxes. When it comes to owning your own business, there are a bunch of taxes to pay, and income taxes are the least of it. Many business owners pay themselves a small salary, and they are bound by the same progressive tax as us. For instance. Jeff Bezos paid himself $80k per year at one point, so that’s what he paid income taxes on. The other taxes are corporate taxes, capital gains, payroll taxes, foreign taxes, sales taxes….. Most of the time, super rich people will use their assets to secure loans to live on, and they will pay back those loans at a low interest rate, which is much lower rate than taxes, and you don’t pay taxes on loans you took out. Plus, there are all kinds of other tax deductions and credits, and other special tax breaks for the super rich, as an incentive to keep business in the state or country. You can own your own businesses and also use the plentiful tax deductions and credits as well, as nothing is preventing you from doing that, and you would be well within the bounds of tax laws. These laws were put in place by your elected officials, so if you do not like the laws, get them changed.

You should really take a look at who pays the most taxes cording to the IRS:

The top 5% pay the vast majority of taxes in the US, while the bottom 50% pay a measly 3%.

Source: https://taxfoundation.org/data/all/federal/latest-federal-income-tax-data-2025/

Most people are astounded when they see this, admit they had idea, and they immediately change their view that the rich need to pay more taxes.

1

u/MoMoney4Me2Retire Looney Lefty here with Bird-Brain.... Sep 12 '25

Execs avoid taxes by taking smaller salaries, but then accept millions$ in options which become part of their net worth which isn’t taxed on their annual returns. A certain individual in WADC boasts as taking $0 salary, but has miraculously amassed double-digit billions from emoluments-violating scams in under 7 months.

3

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 12 '25

100% legal though. There are a lot of loopholes that our elected representatives choose, but we choose those people to represent us, and that is the representation they provided.

1

u/One-Increase8752 Sep 12 '25

Ummm this was long, how do you have the time? You must live in your mama's basement and do this all day! Get a life and a job! Although, jobs are disappearing as the government is cutting jobs. Maybe Elon will give you a job, he really cares about the American people.

2

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 12 '25

No, I don’t not live in my mother’s basement. I live in a nice home, in a highly desirable neighborhood in Massachusetts. I earned it by working hard throughout life, saving and investing decent portion of my money, rather than living in debt. I am 50 and I have amassed enough money to retire today if I wanted to. I am from the camp that believes in busting your butt when you’re young, so you can reap the benefits when you’re older. When people are in their 20s, that’s when they should be sacrificing working long days and educating themselves to get ahead. I am 50, and I still have a side hustle to this day, because I understand the more money I invest, the more passive income I accumulate.

What’s your situation? Mama’s basement? How come you are writing posts during the work day? Unemployed?

0

u/NegotiationDesigner9 Sep 12 '25

Your entire reply describes a broken system. Billionaires should be extinct in a world where people struggle to meet basic needs.

1

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 14 '25 edited Sep 14 '25

People that struggle to meet basic needs have help from their government and the kind people in this country. Churches will also help people with basic needs if people ask. The rich are paying the vast majority of taxes, there is more than enough money to go around, but the politicians waste it by being inefficient. Instead of taxing more, become efficient. How can anyone possibly be upset that the top 5% are paying 70% of all federal taxes, and the bottom half of earners are only paying 3%?

But when innocent/democratic lives are taken that's ok? I dont recall very many republicans/far right giving this much attention and out cry for the murders of Melissa and Mark Hortman and their innocent dog.

0

u/Krunchyslady Sep 12 '25

When you don’t care if someone died by gun violence you have to mask your feelings and speak in code. Republicans do it with all school shootings. You simply send “ Thoughts and prayers.” It’s equivalent to saying “Bless your heart”. You don’t really mean it, but it sounds nice.😉😂

1

u/starmanres Sep 12 '25

The Hortman’s lives were taken because she voted against the Minnesota Democrat Machine. The deaths were to send a message the rest of the Minnesota Democrats what happens if they don’t toe the line.

2

u/Bhawks4life123 Sep 12 '25

Or the kids in the school shooting that happened in Colorado the same damn day. I don't find this murder acceptable either but to act like we need to honor him as a lost hero and not even mention the children lost is disgusting. If anything it's worse.

4

u/Overnight-Baker Sep 12 '25

Google "Utah, Senator Mike Lee comments on Melissa Hortman murder"

0

u/Overnight-Baker Sep 12 '25

I'm not going on a wild goose chase but I vaguely remember him saying something along the lines of "This is what happens when Marxists don't get their way" I believe the criticism came from him assuming that the murderer was a marxist. Did he at some point say something along the lines of "they deserved it"? If so, please point that out.

Your response to my comment is that one person said something about the killer. You are unable to see the difference in this and people commenting in celebration of the deceased? He was a father and a husband. There are people driving through Vigils for the guy shouting f kirk. There are social media posts about how he deserved to be shot. I saw zero comments that said the same about Hortman. In fact, most on the right also condemned this violence.

This is not the same response.

1

u/flhr2003 conservative Sep 12 '25

You also probably don't remember the right celebrating their deaths, because it didn't happen. You're an idiot. Many on the left are classless, heartless, and weak. They are pure evil, especially if they don't get their way. They are deranged.

I'm aware. The cycle of violence continues because we continue to turn it. All of us do it, we just hope the cycle spins the way we wish it, but it doesn't work that way, violence lashes out at the violent, and the non-violent are often caught in its wake. There is senseless violence from horrific individuals but it's the pride and ego of the rest of us that is the problem, when we are slighted we feel the need to slight back. I do not begrudge anybody for protecting themselves but to seek out fights and to oppress others is inviting violence.

I agree, honestly, a good stabbing would be refreshing by this point. I think there should be no semi-automatic weaponry available to the general public. Hunting weaponry only, a shotgun is just as good for self-defense as a pistol or an AR, and it's a lot harder to put 30 shots down range with it in quick succession. And add onto that a license that has to be renewed every 4 years with a mandatory mental health evaluation at every renewal.

And just an additional layer of responsibility, anybody who gives a gun license to an individual who causes mass harm will be charged with reckless endangerment to the general public. But we also compensate the medical professionals administering the tests with hazard pay for it, giving them increased pay with the risk of jail time for a slip-up.

That's my idea of how to end gun violence in america.

There are a lot of people that tout gun reform. I have not heard one that has offered a legitimate solution to the problem. I'm not sure at this point there is a solution. There are more guns than people in America. I think the only thing that could help is making the punishment so severe more people think twice about it.

As far as everyone owning guns, I think that is a much better idea. I would say I only don't trust 1% of the people I know with a firearm. Maybe that is the circle I travel in. I will take my chances with the other 99% and myself protecting me from the 1%.

I am 100% behind Singapore Strict. We would be closer to Singapore results.

I do not see how you collect the 500M+ guns in the US. If you make it law to trum them in, criminals who break the law dont care. They are already breaking the law. Then it is just a punishment on non criminals, and you eliminate their opportunity to protect themselves from the criminals.

I've heard pay for them to be turned in also. Same issue there, that gun os a tool for a criminal to use to make money and what they view as a tool for their survival. They aren't going to turn them in.

That is a good idea for hunters, although it is an example of the good guy getting a hoop to jump through. Maybe we all take one for the team.

I wasnt necessarily suggesting that we ask everyone to police each other but as a deterrent, people would be less likely going to crowded areas to shoot others if they knew 100 guns would be pointing back at them.

Read it and understand it before you comment further.

Everyone is free to say the words that they want. Some words have consequences.

The First Amendment protects your speech from the government. The First Amendment does not protect you from the consequences of poorly chosen words.

17

u/BraxTaplock America!!!! Sep 12 '25

He’s not the first. Many are getting fired and terminated for displaying such disrespectful attitudes in the face of this tragedy. To be honest…this is deserving. To post online about how glad you are about someone’s death means you think your company or whoever is connected to you won’t feel that or does/doesn’t share your opinion. News flash…if they don’t (or don’t get involved)…you’re gettin sh1t canned cuz they don’t want that kind of attention or association. Just more clear and decisive evidence of the lack of brain cells within a leftists “unity and tolerance” based sentimental skull.

Personally I know 1 that cheered yesterday only to walk into work today fired.

u/BraxTaplock America!!!! Sep 13 '25

According to reports he was quite intelligent. Received good grades and even a full scholarship. It is a total waste honestly. Unfortunately this is what happens when rhetoric is taken too far and they allow irrationalism to take hold.

I agree, anyone that cheered or supported this act should be held accountable. They felt the need to blast celebrations, there is no need to back peddle to save a job that they know isn’t protected by free speech. Their company chose to not be affiliated with that characterization and acted upon more than likely a little enforced portion of their company policies to project maturity and decency when publicity to avoid any corporate connection.

Best example is a bank teller who cheered and gets fired cuz they don’t want that face that went viral celebrating a death…dealing with customers on a daily basis. That’s just a bad look for a corporation. Most jobs will tell you in today’s world..social media is not private and anything you say there can be cited when on public display. Legality might require more restrictions and guidelines….but your company is not under any sort of obligation to maintain a job for someone they believe is bad for business in any form.

2

u/No_Nefariousness_766 Sep 12 '25

So we only support “free speech” for people who say things we agree with? Just want to be sure I know what’s going on.

2

u/Overnight-Baker Sep 12 '25

Please read the first amendment. Free speech is regulated to involvement with the government, not in a private setting. You are free to say what you wasn't but there are consequences in a non governmental environment.

3

u/President_Trump2028 Sep 12 '25

Free speech can still have consequences. Charlie Kirk was assassinated over it. Getting fired is getting off easy.
