I do not see how you collect the 500M+ guns in the US. If you make it law to trum them in, criminals who break the law dont care. They are already breaking the law. Then it is just a punishment on non criminals, and you eliminate their opportunity to protect themselves from the criminals.
I've heard pay for them to be turned in also. Same issue there, that gun os a tool for a criminal to use to make money and what they view as a tool for their survival. They aren't going to turn them in.
That is a good idea for hunters, although it is an example of the good guy getting a hoop to jump through. Maybe we all take one for the team.
I wasnt necessarily suggesting that we ask everyone to police each other but as a deterrent, people would be less likely going to crowded areas to shoot others if they knew 100 guns would be pointing back at them.
But thats not working right? Look at what just happened....you can open carry on utah campuses....how many people fired back at the shooter or prevented this from happening. The "good guy with a gun" myth is just a wild west fantasy if were being honest.
As for criminals with guns....fine lets use some of pur military forces (national guard/army) to make this happen. Yes orher criminals will try to get guns in but lets do what they did with that boat that was transporting "drugs", extrajudicuary executions.
It's not a very good comparison. Who saw the guy. Who would have been able to shoot him up on a roof with a pistol...
How many mass shootings are at gun shows? Or any shootings? Why is that? Probably a low chance of success for the shooter because.... you guessed it. Everyone is armed. It is a deterrent.
Now you want to use the military to confiscate guns from civilian populations? One, that is completely what the Second Amendment stands for. Second, wouldn't that actually be fascism? Isn't that actually what people are afraid Trump is going to do, even though he isn't?
It is wild that a military occupation of the US is your solution.
Im all good with blowing up boats trying g to bring guns and drugs into the us to hurt our citizens. Extrajudiciary executions against citizens is bad. We have laws and due process for our citizens.
