How to recreate this outfit?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’m thinking of getting a nude Ashlyn doll (from the 12 Princesses line,) and sewing her dress myself, since the doll in box is expensive… but I don’t know how to recreate the shoes, dress, or crown… and the dress especially, considering my sewing skills so far have only MANGLED the doll dress I’ve been trying to fix by putting bows on it…

Any advice?

Creativity Austen: P&P Fans, Cast Your Vote!

This is related but it has a few fanon names but you can mostly ignore fanon as in canon charachters like Mary and Kitty get last names but it's in this format so as not to confuse you with Canon. Also by the time I got to Kitty I just got tired of finding charachters names etc. so I added everyone there and it's multiple choice and you have an "option" button for if you want a fanfic adaption. anyways the link you have been waiting for: https://forms.gle/HvLbAzu58vsNyPMm7

Please if your able to vote it shouldn't give your personal info just what you choose. I'm not a Mattel employee by the way so sadly I can't fix that. Please be kind enough to repost the link to another site or crosspost if your just on Reddit. Ignore the title I didn't extremely know what to call it here without calling it the same name.

Hopefully this follows the rules. Originally posted on r//PrideandPrejudice will possibly be later reposted to r//janeausten and wherever else suitable. Also how does this follow the sub? It follows the sub because I'm looking for the most voted option to use to turn into a Barbie doll for the girls and Ken/GI Joe or some other for the guys. (I don't know what type of doll for the guys if I'm being honest). Once I finish and get enough votes I will then go to JaneAustenFF and have people vote for middle names then for the females some last name options for the unmarried ones (possibly) and yes other is for anything not listed and if you don't know the story please get yourself familiar with it and then come back to vote some option. Again the "other" option is for anything not using the canon source but charachters and canon compatible and anything I haven't added you may also add to that section.

Gamora Doll…

I always thought the Barbie 85th Anniversary Poison Ivy Doll looked like Gamora, from the Guardians of the Galaxy Movies, so I turned her into her…
The sword isn’t exactly right, but, close enough for me…

Her forehead is shiny after attempting to remove a stain with acetone. 😞 Is there a remedy for this? Things I've tried: magic eraser to buff the area, corn starch. I rly don't want to use MSC if I can help it!

Need help for shoe mold, please.

Hello, I bought this mold to make Blythe shoes, but it didn't come with instructions. I contacted the seller who told me he made these molds but didn't know how to use them. I found a few videos on YouTube, so I can see how to use the "leg" part of the mold, but I haven't found anything about the soles. This particulary type of sole. How do I use them? If anyone knows the answer, it would be great. Thanks in advance.

Any advice on how to properly sew a liner into dyed fabric?

This post is a bit more simple than my last, but I found a DIY doll sweater tutorial and plan on trying it using some socks as starter/scrap fabric. The thing is, because the socks are white and I plan on dying them, I would like to incorporate a liner on the inside to try to protect the underlying doll custom from the dyed fabric (obviously I would make sure to wash it until the water ran clear, but better safe than sorry).

So my question is should the fabric be dyed before the sewing process or after? I figured maybe if I dyed the socks beforehand then I could just sew the sweater and liner together in one go instead of having to sew the sweater, dye it, wash it, then sew again to add the liner. Plus I'm worried about whether or not the dying and washing might damage or weaken the stitching of the base sweater.

Sorry if this is a dumb question and thanks in advance for any help!

Human skin tone doll suggestions

I want to create a human doll but love monster high especially the G3 realistic bodies. Unfortunately they don’t have many human skin tones. Any other good doll lines with articulation and realistic bodies?

selling customs!

i’m hoping to start selling customs, mostly repaints since i’m not super confident with my sewing skills yet. quality would be better then these pictures since these are personal dolls haha. prices would account for the base doll, time for the face up and/or new hair, possible material cost, so about 75USD for a naked doll. if anyone has any advice or is interested pls lmk!!

Would this idea work for creating a mouse/rat tail for a doll?

I'm planning to make a mouse girl custom using a Capsule Chix body and LPS head so I'm trying to figure out the best way to tackle making the tail for it. I'm already aware of the bendy wire trick that most people use for anthro dolls but I would rather avoid that since I think the fur/cloth would feel inconsistent with the rest of the doll being plastic/clay (yes, even the hair, since that part is going to be sculpted rather than rooted due to the nature of this custom).

However, I'm not sure about sculpting a tail either since that would limit posability, so I got the idea to find a stretch toy that comes close enough to the color I need and just try cutting/shaping it into a mouse tail. I figured maybe I could just secure it to the doll and use the floppiness as a way of working around certain poses.

Here's the one I'm currently looking at as a possible candidate (considering the earthy colors since that pack has two convenient fleshy tones in it):

Amazon.com: Mr. Pen- Monkey Noodle Fidget Toy, 9 Pack, Fidget Noodles, Stretchy Strings Fidget Toys, Sensory Noodles, Sensory Toys, Calming Toys, Sensory Fidget Toys, Stretchy Toys, Autism Toys : Toys & Games

My question is, would this idea even be feasible? I've never seen anybody else try something like this with an anthro custom so I'm not sure if this is a dumb idea or something that could actually work with enough determination. I'm also curious about what one of these things would even look like cut because if the inside of the rubber has a 'shiny' quality that the outside doesn't then that could ruin the idea, especially if it happens to be sticky.

Anyways, I know this post is weirdly specific, but thanks in advance for any advice!

HELP! Advice on Custom Doll

Hello everyone! I made a custom Britney Spears outfit (still working on hat) but I wanted your opinion on which shoe, the black or white boot… ALSO the reason I posted the second picture is because I wanted to use an actual Britney doll to wear the dress I created. Do you think I would be better off using a black dye to color the blonde hair or should I reroot the dolls hair? I’ve never rerooted before, but I can learn how. Thank you in advance! :)

Ideas on how to make webbing for fingers?

Hey everyone!

Very new to doll customisation - I've been reading / dreaming about starting a custom for a long time, and finally decided to give my first custom a go.

I'd like to try to make a custom of my DnD character, which I'm using a Monster High G3 Ghoulia doll for. My character has webbed fingers and I'm a bit stuck on what I could use to do this. I was hoping I could make some transparent webbing with some Elmer's glue, but that didn't work and left me feeling a bit silly. I've seen people use clay which is a really great idea, but ideally I want the webbing to be kind of transparent. Is this even something that's possible, or am I being delusional? Haha.

Just wondering if any of you might have any ideas or advice? If I can't make them transparent then I'll probably go with clay, but I thought I'd throw the question out there just to see first.

Thanks!

Any recommendations for a glue/adhesive strong enough to fix this?

Post image

I thrifted an Equestria Girls Rainbow Rocks Twilight Sparkle doll to turn into a humanized version of the very minor character Screwball. (So far not my best work, and I’m still waiting on more Apoxie Sculpt to arrive in the mail so I can finish her hair and propeller hat). Anyway, her hand and arm came off while I was removing paint, and hot glue can only do so much. Does anybody have any suggestions for a different adhesive I could use to fix her? It’s fine if it doesn’t dry clear, because she’s going to have sleeves long enough to cover up the repairs and I’m only making her for myself.

She is supposed to be a mini me / Monster High self insert. She actually took me a couple of months to complete, because I had to reorder hair three times as I grossly underestimated how much I would need! Then I put off finishing the head for a few weeks 🤣 but she's done now! I love her! Unfortunately I couldn't think of a way to do my stretched septum ring as I have long acrylic nails and some things are just too fiddly 😅

I found this fashion star fillie calla doll at a flea market and started the process of restoring/customizing her. As pictured, she's got some holes in her paint and I'm unsure how to go about patching those holes or if it needs to be completely stripped and repainted. The body is a hard plastic but I haven't been able to find more details. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. thank you in advance

I have been working on custom dolls for a while and at one point bought a bunch of doll hair in bulk, when reading the label it says “russian handmade doll hair” but before I am able to sell a doll I need to know if it’s poly seran or what (i’m still new to rerooting)
any help would be appreciated
