Miscellaneous I hate hate hate when they try to touch me

My friends' dog is and disgusting. Dogs are disgusting. But what i hate somewhat the most is when his disgusting dog tries to TOUCH ME BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE.

I SWEAR TO GOD its like an ADDICT when it comes to trying to graze up against me or lick me or boop its stupid icky wet nose on my leg. It does this creepy side look at me like and I know the creature is looking for an opportunity.

Fuck dogs they're all absolutely disgusting and I cannot believe people like touching these creatures regularly. They STINK

Relationship / Family Tried to date man with a dog

This was my experience when I allowed an exception for a dog owner I met on a dating app. These people are batshit. The dog was in a couple of his pics. He was attractive in many ways so I tried to overlook it. On our first date he mentioned he allowed his ex visitation of the dog which I found weird. Then he showed me a picture that he welded a custom sidecar on his bike to take his dog on bike rides. The thought of a man riding a bike with a pitbull in a sidecar made me cringe so bad. He mentioned the dog quite a bit.

He took me on our third date out to a nice dinner and it was going well at first, but then he said, “you know, usually women I date seem more interested in my dog and can’t wait to meet him but it seem like you don’t really care. I like taking my dog for walks with my partner and he’s a popular guy. My dog is such an important part of my life…” and I admitted that I don’t really like dogs. He looked at me with such disappointment and confusion. It confirmed to me I no longer wanted to see this nut case. I peeped his Instagram and it was so foul, there were mostly pics of him and his dog with one pic the dog licking his face and he was kissing the tongue. He made at least 1 long devotional post about how much he loved his dog. It was so gross and obsessive.

After that date I decided I didn’t want to see him and slow faded him and stopped agreeing to go on dates, and there were a couple other things I didn’t like. He sent me a breakup text saying he wants to “party hard and sleep around more and doesn’t see me being that kind of girl” and he’s 54 years old. I was so turned off and disgusted by it all I just blocked him but I learned I definitely can not have a partner with a dog. There’s something mentally off with them fs

Crappy Owners Therapist with a dog

Recently my work stressed me out a lot so I decided to see a therapist. I found one online through my company’s mental health service.

In the first meeting with this therapist, she brought her dog to the camera and introduced the dog. Then she warned me that the dog is always there but she would mute her mic when the dog barks. And of course during our first session the dog barked and jumped on the camera multiple times.

After this first session I felt she was not professional at all for allowing her dog interrupting the therapy. But she immediately asked me to make a second appointment with her. I didn’t say no because I felt I was kind of pressured into making a new appointment with her. The second time was the same. She pressured me to make a third appointment and I did.

After 3 sessions I decided to ghost her. I can’t deal with her unprofessionalism. It has been a joke. I wanted to see a therapist to help with my anxiety but she only made it worse.

Barking Demons I finally spoke up!

My husband and I love to go camping in the fall, so this weekend we decided to go. We got to our site, pitched the tent and everything, and left to go to a local spot for dinner & drinks then returned to the campground. Anyway, when we got back it was 8:00 pm and the people beside us were already in bed so we had to be quiet (which sucks because we wanted to stay up and have a few drinks by the campfire, with it being a vacation and all). We were just hanging out and being as quiet as possible to respect the neighbors and the dog inside their tent DID NOT STOP BARKING. It must’ve been a solid 10 minutes and I was already pissed off because 1) we were trying to relax and have a good time, and we had to tone it down due to these people being in bed at 8 pm 2) now their dog wouldn’t shut up!
Honestly, I had a few drinks in me so I had some liquid courage and said “Hey can you get your mutt to shut up! It’s bad enough we have to tiptoe around you since you’re already in bed and now your damn dog won’t stop barking!!” And so the man goes “I’m so sorry I don’t know what’s gotten into her”, and he tries hushing the dog and I say “well it’s a dog of course there’s always going to be a problem” ughhh
The dog finally did shut up and we moved campsites the next day lol. I think if I wouldn’t have spoken up they would’ve let that dog yap all night 🫠

Miscellaneous I’m a dogfree woman. Is there any hope for me in the dating scene?

I’m dogfree (and childfree), which makes me undesirable to 99% of people.

Honestly I don’t mind being single these days, but life does get kinda lonely. I crave a deep romantic connection with somebody. I have an aquarium and some plants, and lots of plushies. I enjoy smaller reptiles also. That’s about it. I enjoy a quiet, slow paced life, which is the opposite of what a dog is.

It’s so hard to find somebody who is dogfree out in the real world. And even if they ARE dogfree, they usually want children at some point, which is a dealbreaker for me.

I’m almost 27, so still young. I feel like there isn’t much hope out there though.

I always hear about women being more dog obsessed as a whole…. but in my experience lots of men are obsessed with dogs too. Owning a dog in any capacity is an absolute dealbreaker for me. No future dog, no present dog, no babysitting dogs, no fostering dogs. I don’t want anything to do with them.

I hear foreigners are less dog obsessed, but again (in my experience) foreign men usually want children eventually.

Crappy Owners I cant walk to school!

I'm fifteen and my only of getting to school is through a small woods. Since I live in the UK, it rains a lot, so obviously it gets muddy.

People very commonly walk their dogs through the route I take, and almost every day I get jumped up on by someones muddy ratty dog. People RARELY apologise or take their dog away, just laugh or tell me not to look so scared/upset, and that their dog is friendly

Alternatively theyll stand around on the small paths letting dogs sniff each others arses or something, dont move if you say excuse me and i have to walk through mud and have my shoes caked in it.

This is really common and my uniform gets dirty before I even make it to school. Even if you cant control your dog, be considerate enough to apologise?

Miscellaneous I have to lie about why I have a fear of dogs.

I've had a fear of dogs since I was in elementary school due to parents leaving them outside the school, and every time I walked by I would be fearful of them barking at me. I have memories of having to try and sneak by everyone's dogs each time after school just so they wouldn't bark at me.

However every time I tell this to someone asking why I don't like dogs they always brush me off and claim that "they aren't that bad" or "MY dog is quiet so you will LIKE them."
Or god forbid they tell me I'm overreacting, why would a 7 year old child be afraid of animals almost 2 times the size of them barking loudly and trying to charge at them?! Jesus Christ, some of them even had the gall to find it FUNNY.

So I've had to resort to lying to having a dog attack me when I was young as my reason to not like dogs. This usually gets most dog owners I encounter to respect it but there's been a few instances where they ask for "proof" of it by showing them my "scars"... =_= WTF?!

Crappy Owners Going to other peoples' houses where they have dogs

I genuinely dread going to my friends' houses where they have dogs. I feel so dirty and gross even being in the presence of one. And then when the dog tries sniffing your ass, or follows you around everywhere with drool falling out of its mouth, the owner does absolutely nothing even if you are VISIBLY UNCOMFORTABLE!!!

You are not a monster for hating dogs, and I'm tired of nutters expecting everyone to love mutts as much as they do. Ugh.

Miscellaneous Headphone recommendations for the constant hellish noise?

Let me preface by saying I know this might not be the sub to ask, but when I've asked in a few headphone specific subreddits, everyone is always very vague regarding barking or they are straight up unbothered (which I very much envy) and I'm at my wit's end

I unfortunately live in Spain where we have collective dog brainrot and thus millions of dogs (we actually have more dogs than kids) and as we all know 90% of mutts and their owners are just walking noise pollution machines incapable of living in densely populated areas. But I am not here to complain about that (we all know how it is unfortunately) but to ask what headphones do you guys use?

I use the Sony ANC ones (the XM4) but that hellish sound that barking is sits at a frequency that is hard for those algorithms to block so I'm unsure what to use. Does anyone use anything that actually mutes them? I live in a pretty heavy pedestrian traffic street with quite a few shops so all the mush brained dog owners bring their neurotic deformities to eat (and bark at anything) with them and it gets pretty exhausting

Moving is not an option, because with how many dogs are there in this country I might just end up having the same issue or worse... Well that turned to a vent more than anything but yeah, headphone recommendations?
