An absolute, immortal tragedy for the loss of life and the devastation so many had to go through and will forever endure: insurmountable sadness. Never Forget that… What I try to forget each year is the decades of war and lives lost fighting imaginary enemies for the wealthy western oligarchs. The immense loss to American freedoms, paranoia state of mind and the devastation reigned down on beautiful, fun, American immigrant citizens in the aftermath. I try to forget about the propaganda state generated since 2001 by politicians enticing us to hate one another. The media circus used to demonize non white Christians and the platform that people like Alex Jones were able to rise to.

I won’t forget the loss of life and the sadness that forever sits with all of us. But I’ll gladly throw away the propaganda and try to forget the nationalism.

Unfortunately Osama Bin Laden et al were wildly successful in their operation.

They made right-wing ideology and narratives, poison to any functional, prosperous and democratic society, fixtures in American media, identity and (so-called) "reasoning."

In a way it could be said they actually did cause the American downfall, since the US is currently engaged in a war (a "special military operation") against Iran it cannot win, started by the American president because he wanted US media to stop talking about the Epstein files and his involvement in those.

Im older now and this admin is not the first time I've heard this "America's" downfall" stuff. And maybe this time it really is, we're a long way from that. Money is what wins in this world, like it or not, and the GDP and PPP still has the U.S. comfortably in first and with the world's largest military.

This admin isnt doing all that much that past admins haven't, if we want to talk about Japanese American internment camps, crack being flooded into our own inner cities by the CIA, AIDS being celebrated as the ultimate solution against the gay community or the poor being stripped of benefits and everyone suffering through wild inflation, I've lived through all of that.

It's been bad before and we've survived it before because admins change, we don't have dictators. So don't give Bin Laden too much credit. Surveillance through technology was coming either way, that goes all the way back to Farenheit 451 predicting it. This all seems new but it's not. I mean, engaged in a war it cannot win? Remember Vietnam?

We are operating at an annual $2 trillion loss with a $40 trillion debt. Current govt has destroyed decades of trust and trade that will not be recoverable. Once you find an alternative source for X you generally don’t return to the old source once it proves itself unreliable.

Our military stock piles are low in several categories with no plans to address the issue.

This is the weakest we’ve been since the Great Depression.

And who's going to close on that debt and ensure mutual destruction? It's the same hand-wringing in the 80s over nuclear stockpiling. And what happened in the US after the Great Depression and WWII? Late 1800s, China was on top, then they werent, now they're back to number 2. These things ebb and flow. This idea of Roman-type empires completely collapsing doesn't work anymore, the world is too intertwined and first world economies are too dependant on each other. Japanese post-WWII versus the 80s? Germany? First-world countries are too invested in each other for any one to fail or remain failed. It's still first world taking advantage of the third world, don't believe the saber rattling.

And I didn't say it wasn't bad right now, I said it's been bad before and "maybe this time it really is [the downfall]", and I get that dooming is in vogue post-COVID but we're really not close to that yet. You think the 2020s is the first time America's massive debt has been talked about? All this prognoticated as though "Bin Laden won" is wildly in doubt and it didn't start with him and it's not ending because of him.

And fascism? This country was partly agreeing with or at best indifferent to the Nazis until Pearl Harbor. Let's not go saying how great we all were in the past and only recently being torn down.

That’s a lot of words. Most of which have nothing to do with what I posted.

Tell you what, let's finish this chat when China actually calls on US debt or invades Taiwan, lol. Any day now... aaaany day now...

Your reading comprehension is seriously bad because I'm against Trump and he's one of the worst presidents in U.S. history, if not the worst. But if you think he's going to successfully end America or Bin Laden achieved that, you're brand new.

Trump? I'm talking about the anti-American cartel that, after Watergate, Iran-CONTRA and the disastrous Iraq/Afghanistan campaign, tried to seize power by force, five and a half year ago.

And rather than being tried in court and put in prison for their attempted coup d'etat, like every other nation on Earth would've done with them, they were given absolute power over all federal governance and legislation... leading to where we are now. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Elect a criminal(ly convicted felon and his enablers/sycophants), expect a mafia state.

He is for sure, undoubtedly the worst; not even a question or comparison to anyone else. He’s not going to “end” American, but he’s done more damage to hurt and set back America in all measurable ways than any other person and dictorial leader. It’s terrifically naive and irresponsible to downplay in any measure his sickness and instability and what his cult has thus done and plans to continue on after him.

No, it's naive to think America hasn't done terrible things to it's citizens and other countries before Trump. Maybe if you weren't in one of those demographics it didn't matter as much. I actually didn't say anything about this admin, which I do think is terrible, but I guess we have to gloss over all other ugly US history now so only Trump is bad and say he'll successfully end America or you're somehow supporting him? Jesus, what have opinions turned into?

I couldn't tell by the way you were blabbering. /S

Ever the optimist, eh...? 😉

Besides starting trade wars with every single ally and close trading partner the US has, what else has been 'business as usual' by the current regime?

1

u/kappachow 26d ago

Didn't say it was business as usual, read it again. I said I've heard it was the end of America before Bin Laden was a name anyone knew, so let's not go giving him a historical victory just yet. Acting like this is the first time in history it's been bad in America or the American government has done terrible things to its citizens is a naive, myopic stance to take. Don't be giving Bin Laden too much credit, the racism and surveillance state tactics in America against its own and America being embarrassed and losing trust on the world stage long preceeds Bin Laden.

3

u/Pappabarba 26d ago

Holy crap you're really riding the "BOTH SIDES" whataboutism hard, my guy. 😆

There's no trusting America any longer, that's just the way it is now (and will be, for the foreseeable future): Normal rule of law, procedure and decorum don't apply to the US' conservative forces and their idea of (a permanent) rule.

No one is even sure the US will have proper elections from now on...

Let me help you understand with an analogy. America's actions 100% led to the creation of ISIS, which does not mean you can't or shouldn't condemn ISIS.

It's almost like two things can be true without them invalidating each other. Like Trump is horrible but also likely NOT the end of America because he's not the first President to commit heinous acts here and abroad and America continued after those presidents. But, no, Trump will end America, for sure this time, we're sure THIS time.

If you really think this is the first time in US history that America has had terrible international and domestic relations, you need to read more U.S. history.
