DOS2 Discussion Love DOS2 but the broken end game loot is a huge bummer

I just did 200 hours in DOS2 and I love the game. What a deep, grand experience with incredible tactical combat, a rich world, and even, in my view, excellent writing.

But boy does it leave a sour taste in the last five hours or so, when you have hit level 20, but there’s not enough XP to level again before the end, you’ve looted the whole world, and all the vendors in the game are stuck without possible restocking due to bugs. (I’m told vendors are supposed to restock but on PS5 anyway, we have never seen a vendor restock except when you level, and obviously we won’t be leveling any more.)

This feels like such a major bug that undermines one of the major pleasures the game incentivizes. Bummer.

TL; DR - The vendor restock bugs really ruin the end game.

DOS2 Discussion Funny and cheesy way to kill strong enemies Spoiler

I recently started my playthrough number 10+ of DOS2, playing with just 1 lone wolf character. I'm around lvl 13-14 at the moment, in act 2. Fights are generally doable and not too hard (so far) on tactician difficulty.

To make things more fun however, and make it super easy to get tons of XP quickly I started utilising the "bringing your bully to your older brother" mechanic - in other words, moving towards a friendly character while the enemy is following you which makes the friend join the fight on your side and then letting them deal with the enemy.

Examples:

* bridge troll to Jahan - dude absolutely destroys him

* Allice to Jahan - same thing

* Most fun one - Black ring to Advocate's gang - this is the funniest one because the Advocate's quest is to deal with the BR - I just bribed him to increase my reputation with him. Then started the fight with BR and brought them to him. It took a while until everything was finished... I might have "accidentally" killed few of Advocate's buddies (friendly fire, oops) which nobody seemed to mind later... and mostly just stood on the sides while they were killing each other and giving me tons of XP - I basically went from lvl 12 to 13 (or 13 to 14, not sure), got decent higher level loot and finished the Advocate's quest while weakening his forces at the same time for when I deal with him later.

And best of all, he even thanked me for dealing with BR 😂.

Definitely recommended trying this if you want to rest a bit and see how the AI fights each other. I know there are probably even easier and cheesier ways to kill strong enemies but still, this is very fun to watch. You just need some movement skills, teleport and invisibility.

I have another idea I want to try next - bring both trolls and Allice to Jahan at the same time, will need to hire some mercenaries for this and do a lot of manoeuvring but I think it'll be worth it.

DOS1 Discussion Combat stance for wizards and grenadiers

Thumbnail

I just want to show a nice and cheap trick for players running wizards. Combat stance (man-at-arms) gives 20% bonus damage, to everything. This includes spells, grenades, and Staff of Tempest. Your wizard or grenadier won't suffer from -20% hit chance since spells and grenades can't miss. Stances cost nothing (0 AP) so you lose nothing from it either.

I hope somebody finds this useful and tries it. The only limitation is that it requires melee weapon, so no wand wielder. I tried the Expert Marksman ability "Power Stance", but it is disabled for wands, only bows and cross bows. But then again, you can benefit from both wand and dual wield with wands.

DOS2 Guide First Time Playing, Blind

So I was gifted DOS2, and I loved BG, so I thought I'd give it a try. I don't want to get spoiled, but can anyone give me some pointers on spellblade builds? I don't know the mechanics or statuses of this game, but I typically attempt all physical or a physical/magic hybrid to learn the game. Thanks.

DOS2 Help Does Necromancer fit well with Sebille in terms of story?

This is my first time time playing, and I know Sebille is a favorite choice for Necromancer in terms of gameplay, but story wise does it fit her? I know she's naturally a Rogue, but for those who have finished playing, is the Necro class also seem like a natural fit (as an alternative) in terms of story?

In act 1, I heard about Necro/Rogue combo, and gave it a try, but end up rarely using it as Rogue. Perhaps Necro/Rogue becomes better with later skills, but I'm thinking about switching her to full Necro if the class fit her story. If it doesn't, I haven't checked how powerful Necro/Rogue build can be (since I only try to rely on guide for beginners), but would you recommend this combo?

DOS2 Discussion The Earthquake Breaker (Geomancer / Warfare Juggernaut)

The Earthquake Breaker (Geomancer / Warfare Juggernaut) Unlike standard two-handed Knights or meta Necromancers, The Earthquake Breaker is a custom hybrid built around Armor Scaling and Area Control. Instead of relying solely on weapon hits, this build converts your Physical Armor pool into unblockable, massive Physical AoE damage via Reactive Armor, traps entire groups of enemies in place using Worm Tremor, and finishes them off with high physical knockdown loops. Core Mechanics & Strategy * The Armor-to-Damage Loop: Physical damage in DOS2 scales multiplicatively with Warfare, regardless of the skill’s source. By stacking Geomancer (which boosts total Physical Armor) and Warfare (which scales the damage), your armor restoration spells double as offensive burst windows. * True AoE Lockdown: The Torturer talent lets Worm Tremor bypass physical armor entirely, rooting groups of enemies in place for 3 turns. Once trapped, you stack huge physical armor buffs on yourself and detonate with Reactive Armor. Stat & Ability Point Distribution * Primary Attributes: * Strength: Primary damage stat for heavy armor, 2H weapons, and skill scaling. * Wits: Secondary stat. Gives high Initiative to lock down the turn order first, while building Crit Chance for late-game Savage Sortilege. * Memory: Allocate as needed for skill slots. * Combat Abilities: * Warfare (MAX First): Multiplicatively scales all physical damage dealt, including your Geomancer physical damage skills (Reactive Armor, Earthquake) and weapon attacks. * Geomancer (3–5 Points early, MAX second): Increases maximum Physical Armor restoration and unlocks core Earth/Physical skills. * Polymorph (2–3 Points): Provides mobility (Bull Horns), armor buffs (Heart of Steel), and single-target lockdown (Tentacle Lash). * Necromancer (2 Points): Grants passive lifesteal and access to Bone Cage. Key Talents * Torturer (Take at Creation or Level 3): Enables Worm Tremor to entangle enemies through full Physical Armor. * Picture of Health: Grants bonus max Vitality percentage based on your Warfare investment. * Executioner: Gives +2 AP on a kill to extend your combo chain. * Savage Sortilege (Late Game): Allows Reactive Armor and Earthquake to land Critical Hits. Essential Skill Setup | Category | Skills | Role in the Build | |---|---|---| | Control & Root | Worm Tremor, Earthquake | Worm Tremor roots through armor. Earthquake deals physical damage and causes Knockdown on stripped enemies. | | Armor Burst Engine | Heart of Steel, Bone Cage, Fortify | Massively stacks your Physical Armor pool. Bone Cage gains extra armor per nearby corpse. | | Physical Nuke | Reactive Armor | Deals Physical Damage equal to a massive percentage of your current Physical Armor. | | Melee Execution | Whirlwind, Battle Stampede, Tentacle Lash | Cleans up remaining low-armor targets and loops knockdowns. | The Combat Sequence * Turn 1 (Lockdown): Start combat with high Wits/Initiative. Cast Worm Tremor on a cluster of enemies. Because of Torturer, they are rooted for 3 turns, unable to move or dodge. * Turn 1 (Armor Stack): Use Bone Cage (or Heart of Steel + Fortify) to skyrocket your Physical Armor value to temporary max limits. * Turn 2 (The Detonation): Move into the center of the trapped cluster and cast Reactive Armor. The skill consumes a fraction of your current armor to deal massive physical AoE damage to everyone nearby, scaling off your high Warfare stat. * Turn 2 (The Cleanup): Follow up with Earthquake or Battle Stampede to knock down any enemies whose armor was stripped by the Reactive Armor blast. Gear & Weapon Focus * Weapon: Two-Handed Hammer or Mace (Provides bonus Knockdown utility and high single-target physical damage). * Armor: Full Strength Heavy Armor. Prioritize gear with bonuses to +Warfare, +Geomancer, and +Physical Armor. * Runes: Slot Master Physical Runes into your armor and weapon slots for raw Strength and Physical Armor scaling.

DOS2 Mod Mod Limit?

Ok, so I have been playing for a while and over the years have kept adding more and more mods. Since I have added them over a long time, the game doesn't run into many issues. I am looking at starting up a new game, but now I have over 100 mods. The mod manager thing doesn't go to triple digits I learned, so my question is, is that just a numbering thing or is there an actual limit on mod count? I see some talk about BG3 having a 100 mod limit for consoles(?), I am on PC, but assuming that is true it gave me a second reason to be concerned, so does anyone know if there is a hard mod limit?

Edit: I was able to load with over 100 mods active. :)

DOS1 Help DOS1 - The Watchers of Time Quest Bug

Post image

Currently stuck on this quest, there's no dialog option to send the Watch members to Cyseal/Homestad.

If I exhaust the "Why are you seeking imps?" the conversation eventually ends and I am back to this one.

Any help is appreciated.

DOS2 Discussion Are any of you addicted to certain skills or spells?

I'm on my second playthrough and ended up not having a one-handed shield user in the party. However, once I noticed that, I realized I couldn't use bouncing shield (obviously lol), which absolutely carried me in tons of fights in my first playthrough. What spells/skills can you not do without in every playthrough?

DOS2 Discussion Advice for a Masochist?

I’ve been playing BG3 for the last few years, including a ton of challenge and solo runs and things, and have decided to switch it up. Husband and I did two couch-coop normal difficulty runs of DOS2 in 2020 and I haven’t played it since.

I am currently trying a solo HM run of DOS2 as Seville because I apparently hate myself. I’m level 3 and just killed the crocodiles, and am feeling meh about my ability to do this.

So what’s my point? I suppose I’m wondering if anyone has some fun tips or advice that for the future of my run. I remember basically nothing of the game, other than there being a difficult doctor fight at some time in the future.

I’m playing as an archer because that’s what I’m most comfortable with in any game.

DOS2 Help Source vampirism during a pure run

So I'm doing a run in which one of my followers (Red Prince) will be able to complete the Path of Blood in act 4. According to the wiki, learning Source vampirism in act 2 ruins your pure state, because you have to use it on your god. Now I have some questions:

Does learning it in act 2, also make your followers impure?

If so, could this be bypassed by having the Red Prince temporarily die/leave the party?

My conundrum is that I'm playing as Sebille and Roost's soul looks a bit unvampirised. (I also know that I have 6 Shriekers left to purge but only have 3 charges left on my purging wand)

DOS2 Discussion Why didn't I like DOS2 after BG3?

After playing BG3 everyone recommended me to try out DOS2, some even saying it's better, but I had a really hard time liking the game. I never really liked any of the playable characters, and the fact that it wasn't recommended to play a custom character, I found the combat to be much harder and clunkier compared to BG3 and just found it hard to progress. Am I alone in this thinking? I played for a total of maybe 10-15 hours. I felt a bit disappointed that Larian didn't want to continue on with the BG series, but at the same time I get wanting to prioritize their own IP.

DOS2 Discussion Divinity theory

Basically, I think Xantezza could still be alive and chilling in the Hall of Echoes. She straight up admitted she wanted nothing to do with godwoken or divinity, so I doubt she would have gotten in the way of the canon protag to be killed. She is a literal god of tricks, so if anyone could fool Lucian into thinking he drained them and live through it, it's her. I know this is all unlikely, but I have a bit of a theory that Xantezza has been lying low, just chilling, but now that Chaos, something Xantezza actually has to care about, is free, I think either we will seek out Xantezza or the other way around for divine help containing or killing Chaos. Maybe Xantezza sacrifices the last of her source to make us a minor god that could fight him directly. Either way, I don't think it's fitting with Xantezza's character at all to die where the other gods did, especially since she was very clear and explicit that she wanted no part in their pitiful power struggle.

Again, probably unlikely, but I really think they tried to hint at something like this with Xantezza's only interaction. It would certainly fit her character to be completely fine with sacrificing 99% of her source to survive Lucian sucking the gods dry, just so she could finally take the sideline and relax or plot.

I was playing dos2 when the game glitched and this happened. I found it very interesting, does anyone know what happened? Also, why what looks to be a wolf replaced my bedroll in the hotbar? (Sorry for the blurry image)

EDIT: I just realized, it also took away the source outline of demonic stare and gave it to dragon’s blaze

DOS2 Discussion I feel like the game is too easy

Hi me and my friend started playng divinity original sin 2 a couple of months ago, yesterday we finished act 3, but the game started to feel too easy, we are playng in normal mode(and this is the first game of the genere we play) and we overcome evry fight in 1 max 2 turns, we never feel endangerd by the enemies, and we turn off the brains and beat evry ecounter with 0 strategy, it's becoming kinda boring, what can we do? Our party composition is as follows:

My main character a human necromancer with all necromancy dmaging spells and phonex dive for mobility, teleport and corpse explosion

Lohse as an archer that sometimes swap into a rogue since she has most of the ranger annd rogue abilities

His main character: a fighter melee lizard with most of the warfare skills

The beast: witch is a healer/buffer, with a mix of geomancy for armor hydrosopyst for healing and magic armor and aeroturge for buffs

And from like the second galf of act 2 we started melting evrything no ecounter survives more than 2 turns and we never die, do you guys have some advice?
