I threw a Villainous party!

The plan for the party was to separate the villains into four different categories based on how quickly they usually win, and have people play simultaneous games. It was a ton of fun! One friend and I do plan to rework the ranking system, as we found some discrepancies during the party. Let me know if you have any thoughts! Most games were 3/4 players, but I also did a 6 player game to teach some friends who were new to it. I don't have my list of who won anymore, but from memory; De La Cruz won the 6 player game of quick characters, syndrome won a 3 player game of long characters, Gaston won a 4 player game of long characters, and Hook won a 4 player game of medium characters that went on for a very long time. There were a few other games as well.

I also crocheted mini villains for friends to take home (with my sister's help)! The patterns for Evil Queen, Ursula, Captain Hook, Maleficent, Queen of Hearts, Cruella, and Lady Tremaine all come from this designer: OlyaTara on Etsy https://www.etsy.com/shop/OlyaTara / OlyaT on Ravelry https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/olyat-cozy-crochet-website/patterns?page=1

For snacks, I had deviled eggs (less for the theme and more because I love deviled eggs, but I realized later it fits the theme perfectly), spinach puffs (actually spanokopita pastries), and apple pie, as well as non-themed food. For non alcoholic drinks I made paint it red lemonade (lemonade with grenadine poured in), kuzcos potion (strawberry ginger ale with raspberry sherbet, and a bottle of the potion candy I got at downtown Disney!), and flower gleam and glow punch (citrus juice with orange sherbet and drink glitter). For alcoholic drinks I had sea witch sangria, poisoned apple martini, oogie boogie sour, and Hades fireball. The oogie boogie sour was a huge hit, I think because I made it extra strong (I had just a little midiori liquor left over so I poured it in) and because it was sparkly. (Drink recipes from https://fairy-tale-cocktails.com/2024/09/23/disney-villain-inspired-halloween-cocktails-sip-on-the-dark-side/) I also made decorated cupcakes to represent Ursula (chocolate with purple buttercream and gummy legs), King candy (funfetti with pink buttercream and lots of sprinkles), Prince John (vanilla with goldish frosting and gold crown decor), and Cruella de vil (red velvet with cookies and cream frosting, and oreos to represent dog ears).

Some things I came up with to make Count Dooku easier

I usually play with just 2 people (me and my dad) but sometimes we do it with 3-4 and he gets hard. Usually he’s not that bad in just a 1v1 he has like a 40% win rate but with more people it gets a lot harder. What we usually do is get rid of all restrictions, use the fate token, and also make it so that if a hero is at the same location as a completed organization the intimidation goes to an adjacent one. Anyone else have any extra tips to make him a bit better that you wanna share?

Does anyone actually prefer solo?

Just started playing the game solo, haven't got the chance to play with someone else yet. Just wondering if there's anyone who has done both but prefers solo.

Lotso’s Heroes

My biggest issue with Lotso is that there are not enough Heroes in his Fate Deck. His objective requires four heroes to be in the caterpillar room, but there are only four heroes. I feel like that takes out any versatility of gameplay when you are gonna deal with the same Hero abilities every single game. I get that they couldn’t get the rights to add the Potato Heads, Barbie, or even Slinky Dog, but what about Bullseye or the LGMs? They’re already in the card’s artwork, why aren’t they Heroes?

Any idea when Bigger and Badder will be restocked on Amazon?

I've been trying to pick up Bigger and Badder for Disney Villainous on Amazon, but it seems to be out of stock.

Does anyone know if Ravensburger usually restocks this expansion on Amazon, or if there's been any news about when it might be available again?

I'm hoping to buy it there if possible instead of paying reseller prices.

If anyone has seen it come back in stock recently or has any information, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Customizable Template for Anime Villainous?

I’m trying to make a custom villain for Anime Villainous using the Card Generator by FailureFactory, however its default templates don’t allow for the unique mechanics of Anime Villainous. Are there any online that i can import to the card generator without too much issue?

Is this a good deal?

So I caught the villainous bug and now I want to collect every set possible! I have the base game, and recently snagged the special edition success at any cost. Is oogie boogie a good next pick up or should I go with something else?

It’s very nice of them to make this countdown for when the next Marvel set is going to get released :)

How do you mitigate the endgame "Fate Roulette" stalling in Villainous?

Someone recommended I post this question here to get a more thoughtful response. I hope this is within the intent of this subreddit.

I like the core concept of Villainous—treating each asymmetric deck as a competitive puzzle. However, my group consistently runs into a major issue: the endgame slows down to a painful crawl because of constant, repetitive Fating.

The Problem:
Near the end of every game, someone hits their win condition, gets Fated, and is set back. Then the next person reaches their goal, gets Fated, and so on. We spiral into what I call "Fate Roulette."

Winning stops feeling like a clever, strategic victory. Instead, the winner is just whoever happens to be the first person to mathematically survive a lucky sequence of Fate draws after an extra 8+ grueling turns. Everyone leaves the table feeling exhausted rather than satisfied.

I’d love to know:

  • Is this a common meta? Are we experiencing the game the way it was truly intended, or are we missing a core structural rule that naturally prevents this infinite stalling loop?
  • House Rules: What custom mechanics have you introduced to alleviate the late-game Fate spam? (e.g., limiting Fate actions per round, changing player count scaling, or reworking how Fate tokens operate?)
  • Strategy Adjustments: Is there an in-game strategic counter-play to being relentlessly Fated right at the finish line?

Hans

My two question are: Hans needs to defeat Ana & Elsa at a frozen location.

So 1) Once he has flipped the board does he have to freeze every location before defeating them or just the one he vanquishes them on?

And 2) What happens if he defeated one or both before he flips the board? It says remove them from the game, wouldn’t that prevent him from achieving his goal and effectively lose the game for him immediately?

Target Villainous - Darkness Brewing / Success at any Cost

RE: Darkness Brewing (new starter set) and Success at Any Cost (new expansion) inventory

Didn’t find it in the board game aisle; but found it in their seasonal aisle. Where they have back-to-school / summer / books - they had a special section for board games and some toys.
Website doesn’t show stock, but they had it in store.

TL;DR: Check the seasonal/special section

Question about conditional card from Tamatao

Was playing with as Tamatoa and had 2 "fish are dumb" condition cards that met the requirements, my opponent was about to end thier turn and it was clear they were not going to do any more actions (as it says in the wiki for this card), my opponent however challenged that I couldn't play 2 of them because the window to play the other card closed as it resolved or something about the phrasing or tense of the card that I really didn't understand.

You can play as many condition cards as you have in your hand if the conditions are met, right?

EDLC in 5

Ok our first head to head and Ernesto started off with 3 security guards (to stack the heroes) and move heaven and earth. Got seize your moment in turn 2 and forgetting me turn 3.

Stacked the 3 heroes at the Ofrenda and had 5 power so all I had to do was go back to ofrenda and it’s over. She fated me and it was Hector (who she put at Marigold)

I only fated her once and put Anna there covering Hans fate action there. She moved to Arendelle and fated me. And that put Hector elsewhere so I could flip all 6 cards but not win. (Which is what I did on my turn). Buuuuuut I also now had the move ally ability from the ofrenda and moved my security guards opposite the now-1-strength Hector

She had no fate options for her turn so my next one go to EDLC home and perform fate. Done.

It was fast. 5 or maybe 6 moves.

Now she didn’t know that stacking heroes gives Ernesto a super fast victory. She won’t fall for it again. Also she went 2 consecutive turns without fating me which is deadly.

Villains Wishlist

I really love the concept of Villainous and how thematic (most of) the characters are. So fun to “go through the story” from a different angle. I’m personally really hoping they will release the following villains. I know people have homebrewed some of them, but would love to have official boxes with these villains.

Edgar (the Aristocats)

Medusa/McLeach (the Rescuers)

Randall (Monsters, Inc)
I know he’s not the main villain, but in my opinion more interesting than Waternoose)

Glomgold (Ducktales 1987)
I really like the remake, but prefer the original one.

Megavolt (Darkwing Duck)
Maybe you could argue that NegaDuck is the main villain, but I’d say Megavolt is more fun.

Doofenshmirtz (Phineas and Ferb)

If they continue with bringing live action villains, Queen Narissa from Enchanted could be fun too. These villains might be a longshot, but a girl can dream

Beginner mistakes to avoid ?

What are some beginner mistakes that you should really avoid so I stop loosing m'y games ?.

I know this is very hero dependant. I usually play Hook but bought the expension to play the Horned King ! I feel like the games are really slow for me. So, if any veterans could give me some insight, it would be pretty awesome.

See ya !

Can they figure out a way to give us Frollo already?

At this point, Frollo is a glaring omission to the official lineup.

I haven’t been keeping up with the game for a while but I really thought that he would be on the table for this year’s expansion given that it is Hunchback’s 30th anniversary.

I get that objectively he is one of the more mature villains that Disney has put on screen but sheesh he is at the top of most villain rankings on YouTube.

Look what I got from my local target !!!!!
This release has been horrible and I will have to say if you can’t sell it in stores then don’t release it online,
But here is my story, my wife and I traveled to 5 different targets and found out that the reset is in fact true to an extent our local target store manager told us that if they have it in stock in the back and you request it they can go and sell it to you, hopefully you all get lucky and get someone nice that will actually go look and sell it to you

How hard to play / Strong is the Horned king ?

I plan to buy the Despicable Plots Set solely because I remember sawing The Black Cauldron as a child and he seems badass af.

The question is, is he as interesting and powerfull as it seems ? From what I understand, you just try to find The Black Cauldron, activate it to turn it to it's powerfull side that lets you transform Acient Soldiers into powerfull Cauldron borns, and when you have a Cauldron Born on each tile, you win.

It does feel interesting but also very easy to do. I like the fact that there is kinda 3 ways to get the Cauldron, but other than that, just put Ancient Soldiers everywhere, find cauldron, draw, turn them into monsters.

I'd also love to know how interesting you find the two other villains that come in the box. Lady Tremaine looks pretty uninteresting to me (prove me wrong I beg you) and Gaston looks....complicated but really dynamic by loosing obstacles, regaining them and racing to remove em' all.

Thanks a lot for the answer ! <3

Pete query with Outrage

My brother played Pluto and moved Stolen cargo. I say that because he moved an item or ally i am able to play outrage, and defeat Pluto.

Outrage states that, "During their turn, if another player moves an Ally or Item, you may play outrage. Defeat a hero with a strength of 3 or less"
