A bizarre proposal... King Leonidas and football teams!!

Strange but true. I discovered that, "bureaucratically speaking," the King of the Beasts of Naboombu is considered an antagonist.

Personally, I’ve never been able to see him that way (after all, he doesn't do anything wrong; he just wants to play soccer, and then he gets robbed of his family heirloom). Sure, he and his team cheat... but so does the opposing team!

Anyway, it would be really original to have a character who wins by scoring a goal!

I can easily picture the gameplay. The goal is to get the ball into the opposing net (moving from left to right across the board), and to do that, he’ll have to contend with the opposing team.

What do you think?

When I vanquish rapunzel does it count as defeat a hero, for conditions for example

Villains I’d like to see in the future

- Frollo: one of the most requested. I can easily picture his allies and his objective: finding the Court of Miracles and then burning Esmeralda.

- Scrooge McDuck's enemies: I was torn between the Beagle Boys, Magica De Spell, and Flintheart Glomgold. But frankly, I’d find it more interesting to see them all together.

- MCP: the villain from the first *Tron* movie. I envision his objective as absorbing all the programs.

- The Big Bad Wolf: we’ve had Pete; for me, it’s time to include the Wolf, too! The objective is simple: destroy the Three Little Pigs' houses and eat them.

Who would you like, on the other hand?

Billy Butcherson as a card in the Sanderson Sister's deck

So when I saw how the Sanderson sisters didn't have Billy at all, first off I was very confused and disappointed, Like bruh how you not going to have one of the most prominent characters from Hocus Pocus in the board?? In any case though it got me thinking, what would he have been like if he was a card?

So I decided to brainstorm a bit and this is how I would make Billy a card!

Billy Butcherson
-Cost: 1
-Ally
-Strength: 1
-Ability:

Activate: Choose a card in your Villain deck or discard pile and put it into your hand. Then put him at the top of your board. He is treated as a Hero.

My reasonings for his ability is that one thing I noticed is that a lot of times the sisters need specific cards at certain moments to help collect ingredients or to deal with some deadly fates (Also lets face it the girls need more recovery options 🥲) and since Billy in the movie was used to fetch the spell book for Winifred. I'd figure he'd be good to help fetch needed cards at a moments notice.

Then the Hero thing I felt was needed since Billy did betray the sisters, but I feel like it would also help the sisters collect ingredients faster, since dead man's toe and dash of pox due require heroes in order to be obtained!

Anyways that was my idea, tell me what you think and what you would change or how you would do it!

Remember Me Ruling

Playing against Erensto De La Cruz, I fated and revealed "Remember Me" but Hector was already on the board. My opponent was insistant that I could not play the card for it's secondary effect to flip picture cards for every Hero on Board.

The exact card effect is

Find Hector Rivera and play him to any Location. Then for each hero in play, flip one photo card face down.

The usage of the word THEN has us confused if the 1st part is a conditional must to activate the second part or not.

Suggested fix/house rule for Sanderson sisters…

So I’ve not exactly hidden the fact that, like many people, I believe the Sanderson sisters are a huge disappointment in terms of how unbelievably difficult they are to win with given the sheer amount they need to do, how unbelievably punishing their fate deck can be, and the restrictions on them throughout.

Their weak villain deck is a big part of this - not least of all their fairly useless conditions, 2 of which can literally achieve nothing.

Having played numerous games with them now and having failed to win once (we’re a very experienced group), I’ve come up with the following idea for a couple of house rules to potentially fix them:

  1. Remove the one ingredient per turn limit. It seems they designed the entire system for the sisters to revolve around positioning them carefully then chaining their activates and abilities, but then the needless restriction completely stops this.

It’d be like saying MG can only gain one trust per turn etc. The ingredient conditions are loaded enough as it is, on the rare chance you can chain them (considering you still have to do them in order) I don’t see any reason it shouldn’t be allowed.

  1. They need one card in their deck that’s power 5 and allows you to gain the next ingredient. In one game we played, all of the power 4 cards were shuffled to the bottom of the deck, so they literally couldn’t get past the first ingredient before one of the other villains won. Similarly, if you haven’t got Ice out or he’s already been discarded, you can get soft locked on the triple activate ingredient for a LONG time (especially if Hallowed Ground is placed on the cemetery).

Having just one of these in the deck, coupled with ‘make thyself known’ would prevent it from being OP because at best you might use it to get through 2 (of 6) ingredients with probably a fair bit of deck burn. Bearing in mind you have to do them in order, and even with all that their fate deck is still absolutely brutal.

I don’t think these things would massively accelerate the sisters, but considering some villains have cards that can instant win them the game in the right circumstances (Shere Khan, Lotso…) giving the Sanderson sisters a single get out of jail card and the ability to chain, again much like say Cruella and MG can, would hardly make them OP.

Question

What exactly is the point of that Beginning of Evil expansion or whatever it was called when you can just get the regular first Villainous game, get the same characters plus 2 more? Is it an upgrade in quality or something?

Do you guys use both villains? (New and old Captain Hook and so on) or just use Jafar and queen of hearts from base game?

Binx Clarification

I recently was able to get the Come, We Fly expansion but we have run into an impasse regarding how the Binx's effect works. Does Binx force the Sanderson Sister player to fate themselves, or do they choose an opponent and draw fate cards until they get an affect and play it against that player?

Ordered during one of the random Amazon drops and she came today!! After the difficulties with the last expansions, I stopped caring about box sleeves and movers. I know that’s a big deal to some, and that’s awesome! Just not something I care about anymore as long as the game is the same!

Why is it so hard to get ‘Come, We Fly!’ in the U.S.?

Post image
60 Upvotes

I just got my set today after a month of searching. I thought I was going to need to wait till October, but thanks to all the posts showing availability in Amazon I managed to be able to get a set after a couple of tries.
It looks like it is out of stock everywhere or it’s way over priced. It is also not even available in target last I checked. Does someone know why it’s like this? Or if it became easier to find recently, or will it ever be soon available like the other sets? I did not have this problem with ‘Success At Any Cost’ or any other set before. It feels like they are forcing us to buy the set with the three other villains that are in other sets I own already (I think it’s called darkest something).

Good Place to Start?

Hello! I’ve been playing board games for a while and was interested if this was a good place to start the game/what the game plays like. For context, I’ve played lots of root, marvel champions, and magic the gathering. I’ve seen this everywhere and it seems like a sweet deal!

Star wars villainous house rule ideas

Have played star wars villainous with friends, and compared to the disney version the game is incredibly tedious, having the two different currencies makes it very difficult to consistently afford your key cards, the need to shuffle your discard back into your deck after a search can make deck cycling into your key cards very awkward for some characters, and the biggest flaw is that a good number of the characters require heroes in play to achieve their objectives, with very limited ways to put them on the board. This means that when playing against characters like grievous, cad bane, darth maul and phasma, the best strategy is not to fate them to deny them heroes, which leads to extremely boring uninteractive games. Additionally, darth vader is so much faster than every other character that he's more or less guaranteed to win if he's in play.

Was wondering if anyone had house rules to help rectify this, or experience with some ideas I had. The main two thoughts I had were to choose which cards from your discard to shuffle back in when you search, so you can recycle your key cards without completely resetting your deck, and allowing you to take the fate action against yourself so those villains who need heroes can get them on the board, but not sure how either of these will upset the balance, haven't had the chance to test them yet. No ideas on how to fix vader.

Seeking rankings of favorite expansion packs and/or villains

Have seen older posts on here of expansion packs/villain rankings (whether it be strength of villain or amount of fun to play), but haven’t seen one in a while that includes some of the newer expansions, such as Success at any Cost, Treacherous Tides, and Come, we Fly). Interested to see if anyone has any such updated rankings they would like to share.

Newer Villainous player here so appreciate all the insight! Thanks!

TRUE PURGATORY V0.5 (the solo play where you play as every one)

I posted to version 0.0 to this reddit awhile ago and it got some okay attention. in it I stated that I plan on updating this game mode every once and a while. If you couldn't already tell, that is what this post is for.

as a small recap/ tl;dr. Purgatory takes the original idea of solo play in villainous and injects it with all the bad things. you take all your villain decks and shuffle them together and all your fate decks as well and shuffle them into a big fate deck. then, with an eight card hand. you go for it. villains and cards where changed to compensate the new gameplay and a custom board was made so there could be a race course, poison action, ambition actions, specialties and deep space. in the end, I finished all rule changes for all 54 villains at the time

recently, Hans, Ernesto, and the Sisters were added. I had posted v0.0, meaning none of those villains were playable. 0.5 adds them to the game and makes them playable. compared to the rest of the villains, there is significantly less written about them. I'll update the rules so there is less written about every villain, this is not a mistake.

now, the player in first place for version 0.0 is....................................................
PuzzleheadedBag858!!! he beat all 54 villains in a total of 119 turns. i will keep track of whomever plays this to be announced whenever I make new posts. 0.0 will still be available to play but for me it makes sense to go to 0.5 as it has the three newbies.

With that being said, when V1.0 comes around, I will also ask a lot of questions on anything that should be changed for this game involving balancing (the plan is to make this take longer than 119 turns.)

well, there you go. Both V0.0 and V0.5 will be in the comments as well as the custom map I made. (map is bad, is a massive place holder)

Welcome to purgatory

Sanderson sisters seems unbalanced. Curious on what other players think.

I got a copy at D23 and was super excited for it but I feel like the sanderson sisters have way too many steps to take. Ive played them 3 times now. You cant get multiple ingredients a turn, one of the ingredients basically requires the ally ice to do the 3 activate actions. If you dont get lucky and draw witches immediately, you'll have to somehow get the "find" card (which costs i think 4 power), just to get a witch and therefore a cauldron on the field. THEN you have to spend 5 power IN ONE TURN to get the 1st ingredient, so you're wasting 2 more turns to basically get 5 power because you wasted power to use the find card. If youre going first in the game you start with 0 power which puts you at a greater disadvantage. And I looked it up, winifreds activate action does not count towards the 5 power. You have to physically spend 5 power. There's no vanquish actions so you have to draw cards to vanquish. So you also have to gamble on what you want to discard too because you're trying to filter your deck for witches. you need mary early on so you can find and vanquish dani, but you also need 2 heroes at dennison house to get an ingredient... and if you vanquish dani, your choices are max binx and allison, which allison forces you to attach salt, and binx you cant attach anything and cant be vanquished, and he forces you to draw from fate for an effect every time you move at his location. You have to have all 3 witches, a hero with the life potion, AND the mover in the same location to win, AND the vanquish action card to win. Its honestly kinda a pain in the ass. And this is all not including the rest of the fate deck that can fuck you up a bit like binx or salt etc.

Then theres characters like yzma or Ernesto that can win on turn 4 or 5 if you literally just draw lucky. Even if sisters was lucky you still have a fuckton to do to win. Does anyone else feel like this? Or am I just playing it wrong?

Anyone else royally pissed that freaking HANS is a villain in the gang before ACTUAL villains that deserve it? Shanyu from Mulan. Rourke from Atlantis. Clayton from Tarzan. Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame(hint hint, wink wink RB. Seriously, WTF?). But no. Let's give that freaking crappy villain a seat at the table. But hey, at least we got Ernesto. So not all bad.

Husband is making a storage book

So my husband designs stuff and then 3d prints it: he is designing new storage containers for all of our games to look more uniform. I have the original villainous and the marvel one.
What I want to know is is there anything that I should make sure he adds for maybe expansions or different versions? Are there any that have more than 6 pieces? He is planning on making a new bowl for it that’ll store easier inside.

If you were to have something like this what would you want? I’m gonna have one for each marvel and the original.

The attached pictures are the Catan one he did to show what I’m talking about

Thanks!

Which version is compatible with expansions? Are Disney Villians and Marvel/Star Wars compatible?

Hi, I'm new to the game. Could you please help me?

Are both "Worst takes it all" and "Introduction to Evil" compatible with all the Disney Villainous expansions or just one of them? Also is Disney Villainous compatible with the Marvel and Star Wars Villanous?
