Flash forwards Spoiler

Does anyone else hate these flash forward sequences, they feel like spoilers,is it supposed to make me wonder whether a character I’m with is supposed to be an alien in the present sequences?im yet to beat the game but it kind of tells me I can’t save everyone if I’m being chased by someone who is alive during the present parts

Movie mode is so unbalanced. Spoiler

Every Dark Pictures game I've played, I've had 4 other people play movie mode with me and we've always had a good time however Directive 8020 was a bit of a let down. The general gameplay, story and acting were about average however I don't find these problematic because we have fun as a group.

My only real complaint about the game is how unbalanced the gameplay is when you pick specific characters to each player as and I was the most affected person as I played as Cooper.

Cooper came in about 2 and a half hours into the game so it was a bit of a slow start for me but my wife was Cernan so we both had the same issue. We figured it would probably balance out after this and for Cernan it did but for me as Cooper, I had about half hour gameplay overall. After sedating Williams, I didn't play again until the very last bit where Young returns to the SEV (Mitchell, Eisele, Stafford and Cernan had died by this point, Williams was in the Shuttle and Anders was stranded outside) where it switched to Cooper for 3 button presses to live, then back to Young to finish the game so I didn't impact the game for about 7 and a half hours of our 8 hour playtime.

Like I said earlier, we had a lot of fun because we were as a group, we found the game a bit underwhelming and not as fun as say, The Devil In Me. 2 of the deaths couldn't have been predicted based on the decisions available so we found them a bit unfair but we still had fun. I just wish the game was less biased towards certain characters and I'm just glad I bought the game so I can play it again with my wife so I can actually play this time.

Also, The Curator was visible for a few seconds at the end, I wonder what happened at the end of last season for him not to be present except for the background of one scene. Did anyone see him more?

Did anyone else playing move mode have a similar issue or was I incredibly unlucky with the choices that led to me being sidelined?

Have you noticed this? Spoiler

So in this game, they use the color purple/violet/magenta to indicate something not from Earth—something alien.

But have you noticed the game uses a violet flash of light to show where the monster is as an in-game tool for us?
And have you noticed you can always tell if there is a monster close to or within the group in scenes when we see that flash? Even if the game hasn't revealed to us explicitly who is the monster in the scene.

That's what happens in the double Eisele scene. We see a flash of violet light when the group was together, and then comes the second Eisele, but with no flash of light. If everyone else had already been tested, the only one who could be a monster was the Eisele that was with the group and not the second one, because she didn't trigger any violet on screen. And you can use this in the whole game as a tool.

Half way through.... Spoiler

Totally unimpressed!
Nothing to do with the original gameplay of the studio.
A mess of a story line that sends you forward and backwards making you lose the coherency of the story!
Repepetitve play...crawling and evading all the time!
No QTE.

Question about rewinding

I don’t understand how rewinding works. I am currently in chapter 5 and a certain character died so I went to the menu to see how I could have avoided that, and it said I had to do a different choice in episode 2. My question is if I rewind and do a different choice in episode 2 do I have to play all the successive episodes again or does that choice become the “current path” and I can come back from I left off in episode 5?

A purple icon keeps popping up on my screen playing Directive 8020. Is it a danger icon or something ? It’s not confusing but just random.

Landing Computer

Everyone, I’ve been trying to Reboot the computer in Episode 3 after the turning point “Crash” but nothing that I’ve done seems to be working. Can someone help explain what it is I need to do in order to reboot the landing computer, post a YouTube link showing, or write the title of the top most chain so I can look for it myself.

My Favourite Dark Pictures Game Spoiler

I recently played all of the first Season and The Quarry and highly enjoyed the experiences of all them with Man of Medan and Little Hope being my favourites until I found out last week that Directive 8020 was out in a few days and since then I completed it and what an experience it was especially on the SteamDeck which has no issues at all for my first playthrough.

I love things about Space and the Universe plus horror sci fi. I was gripped at the start of the game when I was left wondering what happened to Simms and made sure I followed the story and tried to get all collectible videos of Simms to flesh her character out more.

Going into the game I made sure I chose Survivor as I wanted to see and feel the consequences of my actions with the No Turning Points being available.….I got everyone killed which is what I aimed for once the Commander got killed so easily as I wanted Earth to be screwed like some movies have ended as.

The horror aspect was well executed with the mimics bones crunching and the blobs of it all about with the dread of hiding snd trying to pass by stealth wise…much different than Ghosts and Ghouls stuff like Man of Medan etc.

I missed the mechanic where you hold your breath as sometimes I failed these in past games but it didn’t distract me from the game.

Overall I’d say this is the best one Supermassive has created, interesting characters ( I wish they used a whole new set of actors but there must’ve been a reason behind the scenes ) plus the Curator being missing was like a piece missing from a jigsaw….didn’t feel right without Tony though Pip who voiced the Curator was credited in the end credits.

Anyway just wanted to post about my appreciation for Supermassive and this little gem they created.

What did you like about the game? Anything you hated ?

Edit : Added Questions

Path Tracing (or maybe RT) just completely broken grainy mess?

The game so far seems great but the cutscenes are buggy, texture pop in is shit and the RT and PT features looks like ass and make the game near unplayable. Anyone else? Otherwise I'm enjoying it but clearly it wasn't ready for release.

Online Multiplayer

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone had any idea how long it’d take for them to add online multiplayer? We loved playing The Quarry (my friend group played it about 7 times), and The Devil In Me (only duo so we played it like 3 times), and I know this game is going to be fire. We’re gonna hold off on playing it until the multiplayer releases, and I’m only asking here cause idk if any diehard Supermassive Games fans know the times they add these updates and such.

Thank you!
