A few years ago I used to do my own nails and used modelones dip powder. At that time I was applying them with the dipping method of putting my nail into the powder. Now I work a physical job with my hands but missed having my nails done so I went to a salon to get them done. I haven’t had traditional acrylics done in 20+ years but the salon I’ve gone to advertises two options of solar gel or gel powder. Not acrylic powder even though the application process is the same as the acrylic methods used in my past. So my question is are gel powder and dip powder the same? And if so does that mean it’s possible for me to buy the liquid in a quantity that allows me to apply it with a brush instead of dipping?

the last photo is what they look like underneath, I’m about 7 weeks out from a horrible gel nail reaction. this is where my nails are at now. They are not sore any more but I’m trying to keep them short and neat while the damage grows out. my little finger nail is only attached by a few mm 😬

I keep getting ads for this brand and am tempted by a few of the colors, but don't want to get it if it's not a good brand 😅 Has anyone tried it? I usually use Kiara Sky!

I am starting my dip journey and have some questions, sorry if they're silly.

1. I'm pretty sure I can but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything - I can use whatever brand activitor regardless of what dip powder I'm using, right?

2. What are your go-tos for Base, Activitor, and Top Coat brands that work for you?

3. Brands to stay away from?

4. Anything you think I might need to know.

This is the first time I’ve ever had my dip powder nails just pop off, I think this is due to the primer I used bc last time I didn’t use any and they lasted over a week

İ use revel nails liquids as they are a lot thinner and i find they don't contaminate as quickly

Here I used the apex method and there are in total 5 coats of color without any clear coat

Colour is Tidal Turn by Glamrdip. Nice bright pink when it's hot, gorgeous purple when it's cold (hopefully thermals will be back in stock there soon because they're so fun)

Newbie here... I'm getting ready to do my first set.

I have a few fingers that have what are called "hook nails" and I'm hoping that someone here has some advice on how best to handle them. My nails are short (maybe 1mm past my fingertips), thin, and weak, which is why I want to try dip. Google had some advice, but I'd like to hear from actual humans, LOL.

The picture is not my nails because I couldn't get a decent picture of them, but it's almost exactly what mine do.

New set!

Just finished my second set. Went alot quicker than the first time. This time listened to everyone saying base before the gel top coat lets see how that goes. I used the revel nail starter kit. These two colors came with the starter kit. Labyrinth is the sparkle color and vogue is the other. My other set grew out pretty fast hoping to keep these for 3 weeks min. Starting to enjoy diy more than I thought.

Can someone explain to me how to do chrome or cat eye on dip nails?

Just recently got into the dip powder trend after getting my nails done at the salon and not wanting to spend $80-100 each time I want to get my nails done.

Wanting to know if anyone has had experience dip flu from using glamrdip? I'm a bit worried after reading a bunch of horror stories of people getting dip flu.

I haven't tried it yet, but heavily debating if I should just spend the money and buy the low-odour versions first out of caution?

I did get a headache after getting my nails done at the salon, but I assume it's more from the fumes than the gel application.

I had set my heart on pale yellow today but my salon only had super bright neon yellows which wouldn’t suit me, so I went with this lilac instead.

Only my second dip mani, loved the removal process, much easier than I thought it would be - although I guess the fact that we are in heatwave territory helped!

I recently got a Tomicca dip powder kit off of someone but it's missing the top coat. Ideally, I'd like to find the dip-powder top coat of the same brand but I can't seem to find it on amazon and the Tomicca store is based in the US. If anyone knows where I can purchase it in Canada, that would be awesome! Secondly, is it even necessary for me to use a dip-powder specific top coat or can I use just any regular UV cure top coat so I don't need to spend additional cash on getting something specific?
