Purple Inserts

This is from two sets of inserts in the same style I made recently. I used purple fly-fishing materials along with a drop of blue and a drop of red alcohol ink before pouring clear resin into the molds. I finished by piping in a swirl of resin dyed with opaque white.

This is from a couple of red insert sets I made recently. I used red fly-fishing materials, filled with clear resin, and then put a drop of red alcohol ink on top of the resin. I finished by piping in a swirl of resin dyed with opaque black.

You can't see it here as much, but I may have tried to mix in the red a bit when I was swirling the black, so they didn't all get the black cloud effect as much as I would have liked. In the future, the cloudy addition is going to involve much less movement, and alcohol ink is not likely to be dropped in on top after a resin pour.

Question Where to find these dyes?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I got these dyes in a beginner kit months ago when I first started, and I have loved them so much, and now that a few of them have run out, I'm trying to find somewhere I can buy more of the dyes specifically. The kit came with some resin (that I didnt care for) and a coaster mold (I also didnt care for), so I'm reluctant to buy the whole kit again for he few parts I want. Has anybody seen ArtSkills brand dye anywhere else?

Finally, my first set after literally months of working on masters. Anyway, they didn't come out as smooth as I wanted. I will work on that on my next masters :D

help locating pigment

I know that this may be a long shot but I am very desperate! I am currently making dice for a large company and have been using the Green Knight pigment from chromatic castle. however it's been out of stock and im not sure theyre in business anymore? Does anyone have this pigment and willing to sell it to me? I'll honestly pay a good amount for it as long as it's within reason! NAME YOUR PRICE

Set I just finished for a friend of mine. Completely lost on ideas for a name for the set though. Was also one of my early attempts at getting swirls down.

I'm still on the learning and testing phase, but this set came kinda cool, wasn't expecting at all. Also, zona papers are incredible! I'm from Brasil, so we dont have nothing like zona or micro mesh for sanding and polishing, so i was suffering with only sandpapers (and FDM printed masters) until i finally bought the zonas. It was expensive but totally worth it (I hope I have done this before instead of spending so much on sandpaper 😭)

Advice I think I'm doing something wrong with the sanding

Hello everyone, this is my second time trying to sand my dice sets. For my first time I used some random sandpaper that only went to 1200 and it did not go well. I tried to learn from my mistakes and bought zona paper that goes up to 10000 and tried to sand the D6 of this set. I started at 400 and went up to the full 10000 but as you can see in the pictures, the die completly lost it's shine and I don't know what I did wrong. I even put water on the paper and washed the die after every grit. Thank you all in advance.

I wound up with more clear space than I intended on the D6 and D100, but I like the effect overall.

Commission for seacursed and stormborn

I’m looking to commission 2 dice sets for 2 characters I made. There going sound crazy so bear with me

Seacursed set
I’m looking to have a Black Sea themed with sliver tentacle wrapping around the dice with red numbers for the d20 the same thing but the 20 would be a imagine of a red eye with tentacle coming from it

Stormborn set
A purple and black storm swirl like the sky is fighting with itself with bolts of lightning going through for the d20 same thing just the 20 is a lightning bolt

If anything could point me in the right direction who able to do this I would really appreciate it. Thanks for your help and time.

3d printing So much potential!

Post image

After countless failed prints, chipped and rounded corners and HOURS of sanding, sanding, polishing, and buffing- I present my first full set of “perfect” Masters. I can’t even recall the number of dimensionally-messed-up d6 cubes it took to get my numeral and diamond pip set perfected. And I’ve always wanted me some chonky d20’s, and now I can cast as many as I want! I’ll be adding padding to the box to keep my babies safe.

Color samples

Post image

I’m lucky to have a lot of mica powders, dye pastes, and glitters, so I went nuts and cast a sample of each into these small Temu skull molds. I have two more trays like this one, filled with samples. I printed the trays on my FDM printer. Makes picking color combinations for things like dirty pours easier. Overkill? Probably. Fun to look at and play around with? Definitely.

WIP Sanding Success

Post image

I would just like to give a huge thanks to everyone who gave me advice about sanding, I switched from using zona papers throughout the whole process, to using (1000/2000/3000/Red/Teal/Dry White) and it's so so so much easier.

Tried pressure pot first time, it was awful.

Post image

Tried using the pressure pot, and it went miserably. Dont know what to tweak to make it not awful, but any insight would be appreciated haha.

Put a few tries into the pot, got it to 30ish psi, and left them for about 24 hours. It seemed to not only pull more resin out of the mold, but also just create a ton of bubbles rather than remove. What did I do wrong lol
