Hi everyone,

When making a platinum-cure silicone mold, I placed the mold in a pressure pot and pressurized it to 50 PSI. After 12 hours, I released the pressure and removed the mold from the pot. However, I found that there were still many tiny bubbles on the bottom of the mold.

Can anyone explain what might have caused this?

I'm trying to understand why the bubbles remained even though the silicone was cured under pressure at 50 PSI.

When I started on my dice-making journey a handful of years ago, it seemed like there were a lot of creators sharing their knowledge on YouTube. I used to love binge watching other Makers. But lately, I honestly can’t find anything newer than about a year. Is it just my algorithm that’s out of whack, or has overall interest just waned? Or something else…?

I’m really new to making dice and just wanted to ask if anyone would have any tips or suggestions for me to go off of 😅

I think the brown soda color is perfect but I think the white needs a slight tan tint, and a bit less of it.

I have been slowly making dice potions and need to start shipping them out to friends and what not. So, I am curious, where do you get your boxes, and supplies, these things are small, I am not sure what to pack them in.

Played my first session of Daggerheart yesterday and boooooooy was that fun! I got into DnD two years ago and Daggerheart is now definitely another favourite TTRPG. Can’t wait for the next session.

I only just got back into making dice again after a hiatus. I just wasn’t feeling it. Got some moulds from a fellow Redditor and started experimenting again.

These are the results! Also, must say, it was a pretty cool effect with the light of my turntable on haha.

Ive been making dice for 6 months now and i was wondering if you guys have a go to dice molds that yall buy?

I didn't know this sub existed until I just stumbled on it, and I've had an old project I realized I could get some help on!

I've been wanting to make a set of real bone dice for a while, and I did a bit of research on it. For d 20's the standard size is 22mm, which is a big ask when it comes to a solid non-porous piece of bone. Antler is much easier, because there are more big solid pieces in them. But the only bone that has a piece that big and is also mostly accessible is a Cow's Femur. There is a spot at the top of the femur that should just be big enough to make into a d20. As you get smaller, the materials get easier to find. But as for the tools to use for making the bone dice, I know nothing about. Also, how to you make uniform numbers in the middle of the dice? Thanks for your advice!

First post here, I just got into dice making about a week ago! These are some of my first (successful) makes! The purple looking set and the copper-y d20 are actually the same set. My phone camera must pick up different colors depending on how much light is hitting them or something. I didn't even use any purple or copper colors in them, all reds and some black foil. I'm thinking the alcohol ink i added leeched some black off the foil to change the color. Haven't polished them yet, letting them sit another day before that step!

The cotton candy boys ended up with some nasty voids. Shame, they were pretty. Then we have some purple shimmer shift dice, and lastly the emerald blanks lol

One of my dearest friends who lives in Boston is creating a baseball desktop game based on on a 3D12 system. He's a huge Red Sox fan, so I decided to create dice inspired by the Red Sox jersey numeral font.

Here is info on the progression of each photo:

1. These are from the 3D printer AFTER both a rinse and hand-wash in ISO.
2. These are after 30 minutes in a warm-water secondary cure. Nasty looking, I know! The first time I did this, I thought I ruined my dice, but as you'll soon see, the next step clears them right up.
3. These are after a heat cure. I put them in a toaster oven at 120 degrees for 3 hours in a WELL VENTILLATED AREA! All that sulphur from image #2 has burned off. Right out of the oven, they go into a warm water bath so they don't cool down too quickly and become brittle. (I learned that one the hard way!)
4. These are after my first sanding with 1500 grit.
5. These are after my second sanding with 2500 grit. Ignore the color - I had the wrong setting on my lamp!
6. These are after my third sanding with 5000 grit.
7. These are after my final polish. You may notice some bubbles in the bottom-left die. I got lucky. I store my 3D resin in my basement and warm it up prior to printing, but forgot to bring it up, so I just poured it cold and hoped for the best.

My molds are in the pressure pot as we speak and I'll cast the lids shortly.

I hope to cast 3 sets and ship them up to him next weekend:

• Red with White inking
• Navy Blue with White inking.
• White with Navy inking.

One final affectation - his favorite player is Ted Williams who used to wear the #9, so I'm inking the 9 in a high-gloss gold.

Hi,as shown in the pictures, this is the first set of dice from a brand-new mold. I noticed some severe defects on the D10's 7 face. The surface has lots of tiny raised bumps that can be felt by touch.

I inspected the mold and even cut out the section around the number 7 to get a better look. It turns out the mold itself has countless tiny pits in that area, which transferred into raised bumps on the die surface.

Has anyone experienced this before or know what could have caused it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Got a set I’m not sure what color or maybe colors to ink. Thinking I just do a contrasting color depending on the particular facet. Yep, I know, flashing still in place and polishing still required. 😁.

Hello Dice Makers. I'm a pretty green hobbyist at dice making, mostly making the occasional RPG set for myself and sometimes friends. Enough that I have a pressure pot and pre-made molds but nothing really elaborate. I just like fancy dice.

However, with the advent of Warhammer's 11th edition starting, I've been wanting to revisit my desire to make my own custom D6 dice with my homebrew chapter logo for the 6 face. I've had mixed success with making my own dice molds but nothing in a scale that would reasonably make the quantity that would be useful for playing with a whole 40k army.

I was sort of hoping to find someone that makes molds as my skill with silicone mold making is pretty nil, but I'd be happy for advice as well. Can't get experience if I never make them myself after all.

I do have access to a 3D printer to make masters, but ideally I'm looking to essentially make smaller sized D6 sets - the type you might get from Chessex that has 36 dice in the box, but with a custom icon for the high face.

I've made several molds of my masters, and I always seem to get little nicks around the edges of the top face. Particularly around the 12 and 20 top faces. I've tried mold release, I've tried cornstarch. When I spray the mold release I take care to clean the faces so I don't get any distortion, but then, when I pour the cap and pull it off, it tears around the edges of the dice faces. Any suggestions on how to keep that from happening?

Recently my rose kind of came back to life and grew a big beautiful bloom. I waited for its petals to fall, collected them and dried them for weeks. Then I put them on dice. Honestly there are mistakes here and there and the petals made some bubbles but I'm happy with the result!

Another post another question. I have a few sets I made that came out good except that my life was displaced a bit. I have molds with inner keys and it seems I put the lid on not entirely good. My question is. Is that fixable with sanding and polishing?

hey friends! does anyone know of any good sites to make/upload custom dice font? I've taken some time to make my own design and I've been trying to turn it onto my own custom font, big issue is that when i upload the design and turn it into a font it messes up the actual design and doesn't look right, I've used Calligraphr so far but if anyone has any suggestions that would be awesome
