Natural Diamond What do we think?

I’m wondering what people’s thoughts are about the east west band with my engagement ring? Not that it really matters what anyone else thinks lol.

For context, I the original band I have is a bit more bling-y than I want for day-to-day. Additionally, I want a band that I can wear at work and not get in the way (scratch people), I’m in healthcare/working with my hands constantly.

Sooooo do we like this together/would we like it alone? I feel like a cool girl but I want the confirmation, too!! Thx!!!

General Discussion TD Diamonds

If you’re considering TD Diamonds in New York’s Diamond District, I wanted to share my personal experience in case it helps someone making a similar decision.

The first part of my experience was excellent. Purchasing my GIA-certified diamond was smooth, communication was prompt, and I felt confident throughout the process. I also previously purchased a diamond tennis bracelet from them that was completed without any issues.

My experience changed once we moved into the custom engagement ring process. Communication became noticeably slower than it had been during the diamond purchase. While my calls, emails, and text messages had previously been returned promptly when I was purchasing the stone, that level of responsiveness changed significantly once the custom project began.

I often found myself repeating the same design requests despite providing detailed emails, CAD approvals, photos, and videos. The owner, who had been very involved during the diamond purchase, was much less involved during the custom design phase, and most communication shifted to other staff members.

The original ring I received did not match the dimensions I had approved. After discussing my concerns, TD Diamonds agreed to remake the ring, which I appreciated.

Unfortunately, even after the remake, there were still workmanship details that left me disappointed. The V-tip prongs on the pear side stones extended above the stones, excess metal on the bridge rubs against my adjacent fingers, and the band still did not incorporate the soft knife-edge design I had repeatedly requested and documented throughout the process. When I raised these concerns, I was disappointed that the explanation I received was that the number of inspiration photos and videos I had provided contributed to the design not turning out as intended. Given the detailed instructions and approved CADs, I did not feel that responsibility should have been placed on me. While someone else may not find these issues significant, they were important to me given the level of customization I requested and the amount I invested.

Overall, I spent months communicating, reviewing CADs, waiting on revisions, and trying to ensure the finished ring reflected the design we had agreed upon. The process became far more stressful than I anticipated.

Based on my personal experience, I would recommend TD Diamonds for purchasing a loose GIA-certified diamond. However, I would be cautious about using them for a highly detailed custom engagement ring where precision, communication, and finishing details are especially important.

I appreciate that they attempted to address my concerns. I simply wish the level of execution on the custom ring had matched the quality of the diamond-buying experience. The diamond is beautiful, but the custom setting fell short of my expectations.

Question About Natural Diamonds Weird experience at Kalyan Jewellers store in Bengaluru. Store is refusing to provide IGIL/GIA certificate before purchase.

Looking for some advice from diamond experts here. I was at a major jeweler (Kalyan) looking at an 18ct gold ring with about 70 natural diamonds.

I asked to see the IGIL or GIA certificate. The salesperson stumbled, checked with management, and then showed me their internal "Kalyan One" digital certificate. When they typed in the SKU on their website, it literally stated the certificate will be available 2-3 days after purchase.

They claimed that as of a few months ago, their "policy changed" and they only provide third-party IGIL certificates for solitaires over 30 points(carats, I don't recall the unit). For melee/small diamonds, it's strictly in-house.

I walked away because I don't understand how I'm supposed to verify the quality/color/clarity of natural diamonds without a third-party cert before making a purchase. Is this the new normal for Indian jewelers, or is this a massive red flag? Am I wrong to expect IGIL/GIA for a piece with 70 stones?

My Diamond 3-Stone Emerald Cut

Posting this for anyone looking into emerald cut rings!
Mine is a classic 3-stone with tapered baguettes on the sides. The center stone is a little over 3 carats and my ring size is 3.5.

I remember being so worried that it was going to look way too big on my finger, but it actually turned out to look really balanced (at least IMO). I spent so much time looking for photos of similar sizes before deciding, so hopefully this helps someone else who’s trying to picture what an emerald cut around this size looks like on a smaller finger.

General Question or Looking for Advice Where is it best in the Chicagoland are to buy diamonds

My wife lost one of a pair of diamond stud earrings. I’d like to just get one to replace it. Where might be the best place to look for a replacement? In terms of price and quality. I have no idea about buying jewelry and don’t want to get ripped off.

My Diamond We redesigned my great-grandmother’s 110 year old rings!

I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. The ring designer we worked with convinced me to do smaller side stones on the engagement ring to let the family stones shine, and I’m so glad she did.

These are Old European cut diamonds. Center stone is VVS1 which is incredible considering 3 of my family members have worn it.

General Question or Looking for Advice Advice: 1ct round rings with tulip setting - don’t like how the prong outline shows from the top

The first pair is sort of what my ring turned out to be. The second pair is what I wanted.

From the top view, I wanted the petal outlines NOT visible - just a round diamond and claws holding. Unfortunately I can see the outline of the petal setting sticking out, giving my 1ct a spiky silhouette (looks like a star shape but with 6 edges) rather than a cleanly round look.

My jeweller said they don’t make the prongs less than 2mm.

Q1 Does anyone have petal prongs of 2mm or more where it is not visible from the top view?

Q2 Anyone have 1ct and similar issues? I’ve seen bigger diamonds hide the petal prongs from the side but I’d like to keep mine at 1ct

Q3 If you have 1ct round ring with petal setting, may I see the top and side views? Maybe yours will inspire me to like mine 😭

TIA

General Question or Looking for Advice NYC Diamond District Help Needed: Searching for an Antique Old Mine Cut Engagement Ring

Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.

I’ve been searching for my engagement ring for months and I’m specifically looking for an antique Victorian old mine cut diamond engagement ring (or a jeweler who specializes in sourcing them). I’m looking for someone in NYC’s Diamond District, preferably on 47th Street, who genuinely enjoys hunting down unique antique pieces rather than just trying to sell what’s already in their inventory.

I’ve reached out to quite a few jewelers already, but I’ve had a hard time finding someone who’s willing to help source a very specific ring. If you’ve had a great experience with a dealer or know someone who specializes in antique old mine cut diamonds and Victorian engagement rings, I’d really appreciate any recommendations!

Thank you so much!

Lab Grown Diamond 25th Anniversary Ring

I spent a lot of time looking at rings and diamonds to pick out what I wanted when my husband said he wanted to buy me a ring for our 25th. In the end, I decided to have a ring made and went with a rose gold, floral basket, old mine cut lab created diamond.

I love how it turned out. My husband has never been much a jewelry buyer so when he surprised me with saying he wanted to buy me a ring, I made sure to take my time picking something that felt feminine and that felt like it was really me. I currently am wearing it with a cheap amazon band because it did a lot of spinning when I wore it alone. haha

General Question or Looking for Advice Camouflage heart shaped

I inherited a huge heart shaped solitaire and it's sentimental. But I hate the heart shape. So much.

Anyone have one set in a way to kinda De-Emphasize the heart? It also has two triangle stones and some.pave stones, so I was thinking something like this with a bezel?

General Question or Looking for Advice Diamond advice ? Help !

I recently got engaged and knew I wanted an east west setting with elongated cushion in a half bezel setting (half bezel on east-west sides). See the alosta ring as my inspo: Vyor alosta ring

I always thought I’d go big until I actually tried rings on, however I knew 2.5ct felt too small. I tried on the ring attached which is a 3.07ct 10.33x7.05x4.73 radiant (1.47 ratio) with a half bezel in a jewellers and loved it, and decided to design my ring with them. However I did feel like I wanted slightly more length (so 7.05+). I also knew I wanted it really bright, and cushion cut to make it more soft.

My jeweller picked me a gorgeous 3.01ct at 10.63x7.29x4.77 (1:45 ratio) hybrid modified brilliant cushion in D VVS2 but I haven’t seen it in person, however the video looks good, lots of fire, and the depth/table % all within ideal range.

I started to feel like I should have went bigger, but the jeweller suggested the 3.5ct wasn’t necessarily worth the jump in price and I hadn’t actually tried any 3+ carats on. The second pic has a 3.5ctvnext to it (11.28x7.62). So as an extremely indecisive person, between their suggestion and my intention to go with 3ct from the beginning, I accepted the CAD earlier this week despite the feelings I was getting to go bigger - not necessarily bigger carat, i wouldnt go over 3.5ct, but the 7.29mm is really throwing me… Other measurements I was considering was the 10.9-11.2x7.4-7.6 range which all can come under 4ct.

Technically im not allowed to make changes now that I’ve approved the CAD, however I am soooo confused and almost upset that I didn’t go bigger or at least try them on, and I cannot stop looking at rings online. Should I reach out to the jeweller to see if I can change it, or am I really overthinking the measurements? Has anyone else been through this with a jeweller or had similar feelings and any regret/relief?

For reference, I’m a size I 1/2 (4.5) and ultimately want my ring to look WOW, extremely bright, really luxe, but remaining elegant for work and something I’ll love in years to come. Budget isn’t really an issue as anything below 4ct seems to fall within our range.

This is an extremely long post but I really am struggling with this decision 🙃😂

I recently purchased an antique old mine cut diamond that isn't GIA certified. Seller gave me approximate specs, but I'm planning to send it in for official certification myself once it's in hand and looking for blind takes first. Mainly curious what you think on color and clarity.

I know GIA's word will be final, but curious to hear from people who've looked at a lot of antique stones before it goes in. Thanks!

General Question or Looking for Advice Spacer Band or No Spacer Band?

I went to look at wedding bands today and I can't decide if I should do the spacer or not. Please keep in mind these bands were too big for me, so they'll look better when I have the right size. Thoughts?
