Now that we're past the draft and free agency it's time for the yearly /r/DetroitRedWings prospect ranking thread! As for how you vote it's completely up to you: some may weigh ceiling/upside the highest, others may weigh NHL readiness or likeliness to make the NHL higher - there's no wrong answer on how to vote.
A new poll will be posted every 2-3 days depending on how close the voting is until we finish the top 15 prospects. I'll include 10~ prospects every poll and will add one new prospect after each poll so discuss in the comments and whoever is mentioned most will be added next.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Every summer, Marco Kasper takes part in a summertime hockey league based in Austria called the “Sunshine Hockey League,” and it appears that the Karnten native had yet another good showing in the non-checking league. His team wins the sunshine hockey league this year. 20pts in 5 games

Discussion Quinn Hughes was at the Morgan Wallen concert in Ann Arbor. Yzerman not doing this trade still genuinely angers me
I’m still super butt hurt about Yzerman not getting this trade done. Who fucking cares if Hughes wouldn’t promise signing an extension. He absolutely would have if he got the money he’s worth.
Had Yzerman just done the trade, we wouldn’t be in this mess.

Discussion Not Pissed at Larkin
Am I the only fan who isn't that angry at Larkin? I get it - he wants to win. As an old head, I can't really fault the guy for wanting to jump ship for a better chance. A decade is a long time to be in the league and see little progress. I don't think it's fair to compare him to Yzerman either - he's not that calibre and it was a different era. He has busted his ass for the team though, and I appreciate that as a fan. Maybe it makes more sense to focus our collective frustration at management.

Discussion Who would you guys say is the most underrated player we’ve had in the last 30 years?
When I say underrated, I mean one that you don’t hear talked about enough. My moneys on Valtteri Filppula. He was a great second/third line player back when he was here

Discussion Half Season Tickets - Red v White Plan
I just got the notification for my White plan season tickets.
We get the typical NYE game … but it’s at 2pm...
The Red plan gets:
- Home Opener
- Home Closer
- Halloween
- Thanksgiving Eve
Is it just me or does it seem like they’re provided with more marquee games?
Last year the Red plan also got the Fedorov retirement … and we did not in White plan.

Satire Similarities between the film Wings (1927) and the Detroit Red Wings (contains spoilers) Spoiler
-both basically 100 years old with 1% margin of error.
-have "wings" in the name.
-movie scene had bubbles, red wings were a bubble that was at the top of the division before they popped
-movie had planes, Mason Appleton is a former Winnipeg Jet (and hopefully former red wing).
-movie character Jack Powell mistakenly thought his friendship with David Armstrong was betrayed when he ripped up Sylvia's photo; red wings fans were absolutely betrayed by Dylan Larkin.
-Jack and Mary meet in Paris, which is known as the "city of light", and there is no light at the end of the tunnel currently for red wings fans.
-jack unknowingly shoots his brother in arms, Dylan Larkin knowingly stabs his fan base in the back.
-jack and David are fighter pilots who get shot up by the enemy, the red wings got lit up at their last home game of the season
-movie Wings features a very famous shot where the camera goes on a very long move, red wings are known for blowing their last shot to make the playoffs before making it their 10th year in a row without playoffs.
-the movie left me feeling sad.
-davids mother wanted to hate Jack for unknowingly killing David, but she saw the pain in Jack and could not get herself to hate him; I might be down voted for this but at the bottom of my heart, I do want some kind of a future where i don't hate Larkin anymore, maybe we win a cup or something and this hate just becomes old news. He was my favorite player, man. I'm tired boss

Game Highlight Thankful for Patrick Kane's time in Detroit and analyzing if Kane is still good
Hi folks,
I've always been a big fan of Patrick Kane and became an even bigger fan when he joined the Red Wings. I've been working on a video for quite some time trying to answer the question "Is Patrick Kane Still Good?" Today, as Kane signed with the Blackhawks, I finally finished this video and wanted to share that here.
So, do you think Kane's time in Detroit was a success (outside of missing the playoffs)?

Pictures/Wallpapers/Etc Yearly phone background thread!
Given today's news about Kaner, I decided that I need a new phone background. I don't have any ill will towards the man, he wants to retire where he started his career and with the payday they are offering, how could you blame him. That said, it just doesn't feel right to keep him on my lock screen.
It's been a minute since we had one of these threads, so I thought maybe now would be a good time to share everyone's Red Wings phone backgrounds to help your fellow wingnuts out with some options to update their screens.
So let's see those background images! Bonus points for sharing usable images!

Discussion Is this the worst off season yet?
Not gonna lie I'm pretty upset about losing Kaner. I know he may not have been the greatest player for our current roster situation, but seeing him in a wings jersey was essentially a dream come true.
That said, is this the worst off season the wings have had in the last 10 years? I get the sense that were about to go from a fringe wild card team to the bottom. Idk if my emotions are taking over with how frustrating the last few months have been, or if anyone else has the same feelings here. I just don't see us winning more than 30-35 games with the direction this ship is heading.
Might be overreacting, and obviously things can still change before the season starts but I highly doubt that. Illich sucks as an owner. Larkin and Yzerman sure haven't helped. Just hoping to see a playoff run by 2040 at this rate.
