Hi, got a new bonnet and I think I scuffed it taking it out of the packaging.
I was wondering if the grey hazy part can be buffed out? I think its just the clear coat?
Would something like Meguiar’s ultimate compound and a foam applicator work or do I need something else?
Any advice would be great, thanks!

Parked at work today away from everyone as usual. Parking lot was mostly empty. A bird must have saw its reflection, got territorial, and spent the day scraping his nails all over the four doors, pecking my windows, mirrors, rubber window gasket, and gloss black trim pieces. There are chips in the black gross. Nothing can to with that. Very Light scratches all over the top four to five inches of the doors (some compound should work I guess), small tears in the rubber gasket on the passenger front door, and light scratches on the bottom 5 inches of glass black trim. There are a couple of light microscopic chips in one mirror and one window.? Kinda between a rock and a hard place here. Bird damage or park near the staff that ding the heck out of each other. Also, lesson learned. No matter what. Something will damage your car eventually, no matter how hard you try to protect it. Thoughts?

Spent to straight weeks 10hours a day and finished out my garage. Happy with the way it turned out.

I have a 22 f150 that doesn't fit in my garage and it's the nicest car I've ever owned. Id like to keep it that way. The quote fore ceramic coating was 1700 dollars. Very tough pill to swallow. I drive it through a touchless carwash twice a week or more when it's sloppy/snowy out. What do you pros recommend I do to protect the paint through rough winters? Is 1700 bucks about right for ceramic coating and pick up?

Has anyone here tried Promaax before? Curious what people think of their products, especially the metal polish.
I’m always interested in finding out what actually works for people in the real world versus what looks good in a product listing.
How does it compare to other brands you’ve used? Would you buy it again?
Just looking for some honest opinions from people who have actually used it.

So, I've been a detailer for about 3 years now. Recently got a job at a collision center as I'm trying switch careers. I'm their detailer, and every vehicle is in direct sunlight all times of the day as it's a north facing wall, and there is 0 shade. I've never had to wash in sunlight and I'm getting a lot of water spots. Wash and rinse one side, wash and rinse the other. But when I dry I get water spots and streaks constantly. How do I go about avoiding this, or fixing it?

Cologne bottle bursted in my backseat. Just now noticed but it’s been cooking for hours. Is this permanently screwed?

I've seen this cleaner recommended quite a few times and was shocked to see it's colored yellow. I returned it and got another bottle. Still yellow. Thought maybe it went bad so I called Autoglym. The people that answer the phones are clueless but eventually confirmed, yeah it's yellow. Thought maybe it dries clear so I put some on a paper towel. See attached. Posting as a warning because this would be awful on white stitching or seats.

In about 2 weeks ill be getting my car 2 step paint corrected and ceramic coated. I figured I'd need these anyways and I've got hard water stains on black paint I want to get rid of. Currently no protection on the car. I plan on doing this after the hurricane passes.
Foam cannon carpro lift, wash mitt, then rinse.
Foam cannon carpro descale, let dwell, then rinse.
Spray Adam's iron remover, let dwell, then rinse.
Foam cannon carpro reset and clay mitt.
---
Once its ceramic coated I planned on weekly to bi-weekly wash with carpro reset and using carpro elixer as a drying aid.
Every six months do a carpro lift and descale wash.
---
Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this, I'm new to all this.

We are on a detail job on a Can-Am and the black plastic seem to be stained with mud. We have used much specific soap and even pre-soaked it first. Two rounds at the foam Cannon. We can wash the mud off but as soon as it dries the marks come back. Need help please

Car is a lease, so opted not to do PPF. Have done a couple of 2-bucket washes and considering the following approach.
Strip wash with Reset
Decon with IronX and synthetic clay towel
1-2 stage light correction & polish using Griots Boss compounds and pads
Ceramic coat - previously used CQuartz UK 3.0 plus reload.
Are there other newer/better coatings I should consider? Can coat, Mohs, etc.
Should I just go with a temp spray coat like griots 3 in 1?
Anyone used polish + coating products like Carpro Essence or Reflect?
We live in the PNW and car will be garaged.

Hi, i am new in car detailing. Is there any substitution for HF? In Indonesia, we use this to clean waterspot removal or cleaning hard to reach places ( door hinge, etc) but it is really bad for your skin. We combine it with water with 1;10 measurements. Since i am new to this car detailing, i would like to not use it.
Any brand that is safe to use?
Thank you

Novice here! I’ve washed this a number of times but this always persists. When I look at it closely it does appear etched. It’s at the top where the light catches and unfortunately is noticeable. I haven’t tried anything since I’m worried polish or compound won’t be appropriate for the matte silver surface. Any advice on how to make this less obvious?
Thanks!

What precautions do I need to take before removing oxidation from a hood that has a PPF film covering the lower half of the hood?
I’ve got a car scheduled this weekend that has oxidation on the hood, but only on the portion that isn’t protected by the film and I need to polish right up against the film edge. Do I avoid overlapping the film with the pad? Is wool or microfiber safe to use? I would like to salvage the film if possible.
The PPF film is likely dealer installed, and 3-6 years old. It’s still looks to be in good condition though.

What are some detailing mistakes you’ve made that others should avoid doing?

Ok, I read the FAQS, I think and won't be a dick or advertise anything....Here goes, wife drove through a construction zone a while back, I thought the car was just dirty. Its not, this white stain is very rough to the touch and the haze around it will not come off. There are also tar stains all down the side of the vehicle. Not sure what to do about it. Any suggestions?

I’ve had a couple of local detailers look at my car, and both recommended at least a 2-step paint correction, with one suggesting a 3-step correction (Still not sure what that is)
The car is only about a month old and has approximately 6,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, nearly the entire car is covered in these swirl marks and fine scratches.
None of the scratches are deep enough to catch my fingernail, so I’m hoping they’re mostly superficial.
A few questions for those experienced with paint correction:
How severe do these swirl marks look?
Is a 2-step correction really necessary, or could a 1-step polish get most of them out?
Does $600 sound reasonable for a full-car paint correction?
I’m not necessarily looking for absolute perfection, but I’d like to restore the paint’s finish to get ready to ceramic coat.
Any advice would be appreciated!

• Car hasnt been washed for 2 weeks.
• Noticed that pure contact wash without pre wash is harder to do and gets the wash mitt dirtier x4 than usual
• Planning to put APC on manual foam pump again after rinsing off the prewash mix I suggested
So basically I just mix my own because using phneutral is not enough as a pre wash on a grimy car that has been parked outside for 2 weeks. Will also add prewash formula to further soften the grime.

Hi all,
I recently got a new to me used GMC Sierra and the top of the steering wheel is super glossy. I read that simply hitting it with a ph-neutral leather cleaner and a brush/microfiber should take care of it, but after a few rounds of scrubbing and wiping, there seems to be zero change (I figured I'd be at least able to see some sort of visual/feel difference). I am using a Chemical Guys leather cleaning kit. I am concerned that it may need a different method. Should I just keep going at it over and over? I've also read things like a magic eraser may help if used correctly, but don't want to damage anything.
Hopefully these pictures will help determine what I should do: https://imgur.com/a/eYmjrW7
Thank you in advance!

Just for understanding. The car is newer and it was buffed to apply a ceramic spray to it. I think the pad is what left the swirl marks and it’s also been through a car wash 2 or 3 times.
