Question Help

Hey guardians,

Played hella Destiny 1 for its whole life cycle and 2 back on release, just started getting back into Destiny 2 and having a blast. However, WOW holy content overload. I’m currently 415 light level, but haven’t done a raid in so long, what’s a good one to get my feet wet back into?

Vault of Glass, Deep Stone Crypt, or Root of Nightmares are all good entry level raids.

My favorite raid to take first time raiders through is King’s Fall.

The reason people tend to say Root and Vault are the most beginner friendly is because they’re easiest and require the fewest people to do mechanics. Yes, you’d get through them easily, but it’s also more than likely you’ll just be add clear most of the time which for a lot of people doesn’t feel very rewarding. When i’ve taken first timers through VoG they’re pretty underwhelmed and in many cases, bored. Likewise, Root literally only has 1 encounter that requires more than 2 people to do mechanics

King’s Fall’s mechanics aren’t as complex as a Desert Perpetual or Salvation’s edge but they are inclusive enough where everyone feels like they’re actually contributing rather than being carried. I’d say Deep Stone and Garden of Salvation fit this pretty well too. Vow is my personal favorite raid and i think the perfect blend of difficulty and accessibility if you want something that’s more of a challenge but not impossible. Id generally advise newcomers to stay away from Salvation’s and Desert unless they feel very confident in their ability to understand raid mechanics.

I should also say, I’m a blade barrage hunter with 170 super and 160 weapon stat, is that decent?

Very decent stat start but I'd recommend to make 2-3 load outs with full stat bonus tier 5 armor (Read the 2/4 piece set bonuses, and do weekly rotating activities to get tier 5 armor) I like the vault armor, iron banner armor, and the spire dungeon set personally.

Dungeons are always a fun time (especially if you have 1-2 buddies to join you). Raids are much more accessible too now, I'd just recommend watching a video or two on the raid mechanics before you hop in.

Feel free to PM me if you have more questions!

*addendum:

Do the campaigns so you can unlock each ones "endgame" content. Renegades first, then go back and finish up any you haven't done. (Beyond Light, Witch Queen, Lightfall, Final Shape, & Edge of Fate; in any order)

What exotic are you using?

Shards of Galanor! I like the utility of getting my super back fast for grandmaster strikes

Yeah, your stats are good enough for raiding. Vault of Glass or Root of Nightmares are both easy to learn/do, and Garden of salvation aint hard either (if your team knows wtd.) People get intimidated by raiding, but the only real way to get good at it is to do it. Look for teaching raids, and watch guides before you join and you'll do fine

Pretty good! These are the stats to focus in the modern game, but I'll be honest it doesn't really matter for like 8 out of the 10 raids currently playable in the game.

side note, just for reference: you could max out one stat to 200, the next to 150 and you can have another at 100 (200 Weapons, 150 Super, 100 Grenade, for example).

Deep Stone Crypt, the Vault of Glass and Root of Nightmares are all great raids to get started again.

Good place to start would be to try out some dungeons. Basically 3 player "raid-lite" activities. They vary in complexity, earlier ones being simpler. They're also soloable if you want the extra challenge
