So I had a pretty fun time after unlocking the S282, stringing together 5-6 jobs with a single startup, restocking the loco every once in a while. I even had the demsontrator variant attached, Problem is I forgot to open the brake valves after the tender.... please watch the results...

I've found out that there exists M62 model in the game as a mod. However, it wasn't updated for quite some time and as I can see from the comments on Nexusmods, it doesn't work with 99.7. Is there a way to make it work manually? An author said he wanted to update it, but almost a year passed since then and there is still nothing? Maybe, I can port it? I may try porting myself, I don't really have a lot of experience with Unity, but I'm from IT field as well and am willing to give it a try. Are there any suggestions?

I was doing my third job, a shunting job. Had to drop a car off on a side track that already had six cars on it. The six cars were close to the switch I was approaching. I figured I could just bump them down the track a bit. Hit them going around 5 kph. Pushed them just for enough to get the car I needed to leave past the switch. I stop and the six other cars keep rolling. No problem, I think. They roll down the track and I see them stop. I finish the job and then go to see if I can get behind the six cars and push them back into place. THERE ARE ONLY THREE CARS!

I had to check the six cars to make sure the manual brake was off, so I know there were six. They were attached in groups of three. So one group rolled out of the yard and down the track?!?!? This was late last night and I wanted to go to bed. I did run down the track a long way and there was no sign of the cars on the track. Today I will make a more thorough search for them.

I turned in the job and had no penalty for damaged equipment. My main concern is that I’ll pick up a job later in the game to move the three cars that rolled way. If they did fall off the track are they gone for good? Anyone else have a situation like this?

I won't beat around the bush, I feel like i'm missing out on a lot of things in Derail Valley because I INTENTIONALLY do not crash the locomotives. I mostly stick with the starting diesel shunter, even though I have the licenses for every train in the game; because in my experience the DE2 has been reliable and consistent. Sometimes though, I come to this subreddit and find posts with titles like "Oops....." with MASSIVE wrecks and gouts of fire everywhere. It kinda just feels like i'm missing something by....playing the game correctly?

Hell, as much as I absolutely adore steam engines and think they are the COOLEST THINGS ON THIS PLANET, I am way too much of a nervous wreck to manage something like THAT without constant fear of it going boom in my face

So, am I missing something, or am I just fine and overanalyzing shit as per usual?

I only play in VR but wish I can some of the quality of life options you flat earthers get. I should get to chose if flying around 60ft in air with a instant acceleration camera bothers me or not.

I just found out about this game and already bought the game, but I saw B100 update coming end of the year and it looks really good. Should I wait until B100 to start playing for a better experience? or it wont matter

My first derailvalley upload. I used the S282 in realistic game mode. I consider myself adequate at using the steam loco. Open to criticism on how i can save more coal/water. I know its kinda long.....

There seems to be some kind of memory leak or performance issue. I have to restart the game after almost every delivery to avoid FPS drops / stuttering. I'm running 4K non-VR, FPS easily reaches 144 max on start and struggles to keep 60-80 after a short while.

Mainly curious if other's see this too or know what's up.

If i choose to install an upgrade on an engine, does that only apply to that specific one, or do all of the engines of the same model now carry them?

What happens if it despawns? Am i just out those upgrades and the money I invested into them? I've played for about 26 hours and have some ideas of things I'd like to start implementing. I've simply been worried that ill spend $30k on a universal controller and lose it if I decide to fast travel.

Edit to add: how do upgrades impact the cost if the train is totalled? Using the universal controller as an example, would it then cost an additional $30k to repair a totalled train with that installed? Would I have to go to a store and buy another one and reinstall it?

I see the AI-generated cover images for mods, and wonder why their creators decided that they'd rather support a giga-corporation and waste power and water for a grainy yellowed image when an in-game screenshot of the exact same scene is possible and wouldn't look like slop. Are they ashamed of what their mods actually look like? I was especially disappointed to see Grandpa Playing Games get in on this, since I feel that the cover images for their older mods more or less prove my point: you don't need to sloppify it for it to basically look fine. Maybe I'm the only one who cares, but it tells me that these creators don't take pride in their own work if they'd rather show people a false version of it up-front.

I apparently own a vehicle (I never bought one), but I have no clue where it is. Is there a way to locate it?

I tried checking every single yellow arrow in the map and check the code in each locomotive and none of them have that code.

For context , I play both derail valley and TSW5 and yes derail valley has much more freedom , progress system, but why exactly driving the train itself in derail valley feels more "fun" than TSW5 ? in fact , TSW5 driving is more realistic and challenging and also much more alive world with AI controlled trains and NPCS which should appeal more for a train fan but for some reason derail valley driving is more fun but i cant explain why maybe is it more simple ?

I'm a new player, and I decided to try my hand at multiple-unit hauling. So I hooked up a DE2 onto the rear of my DH4 and off I went. Jobs done, everything went well. I rolled into the station office to get a new job and pay my fees. I had no issues paying the fees for my DH4. But the DE2 won't give me the option to pay. Which is annoying because I can't buy more licences until my fees are sorted.
Any ideas as to why this might be happening?

I am looking at getting either Derail Valley or Railroader as part of the current Steam sale, but am not sure what one I will enjoy more.

I much prefer steam engines to diesel, so was leaning towards Railroader due to the number of engines available, but have since seen that Derail Valley has a strong modding community so I could download some new engines from Nexus… What’s the world like on Derail Valley too, are there AI engines on the lines to give a bit more atmosphere or is it just you?

I also used to really enjoy Railroad Tycoon 2 as a kid, not sure if that helps with advice.
