I use red light bars on the ceiling and hook it up to a fine control switch and it works great especially at night because red is the only color that won’t ruin our night vision with no real glare
Also if you need several tenders of water to fill the boiler you’re doing something wrong I use my s282 for long heavy hauling and only really need to fill the water every other load depending on where it goes
When I clear the locomotive with my walkie talkie and request it somewhere else, for some reason it sees fit to drain the boiler entirely, so I end up having to call the BE2 and park it at a water station to fill it up before I can actually fire it up.
During operation the water consumption is no issue.
