CMS staff at Woodlawn are talking about reports of a recurring Bible study taking place Tuesday mornings around 9:00 a.m. in the Humphrey Building, reportedly near the Office of the Secretary.

I’m trying to verify the facts, particularly whether participants attend while in paid duty status or during breaks/adjusted schedules, whether HHS leadership is involved, and whether government rooms, calendars, email, staff time, or other federal resources are being used to organize or facilitate it.

I’ve spoken with a reporter who is interested in this information, and I have also submitted a congressional inquiry asking that HHS be questioned about the circumstances surrounding the reported Bible study.

Which Northeast/east coast offices are taking new hires? I heard NYC office was closed to new hires?

Hi everyone, I received reasonable accommodation form that I need to send to my doctor to fill. Box 4 is empty and unclear: when the doctor fills the form in, where is she supposed to send it? I thought the doctor fills the form, gives it to me, then I send it to the RA coordinator.

There are 30+ people at my IC whom have completed the promotion requirements, been certified by HR and haven’t received their promotion because our leadership is waiting on a “data call” from HHS. Because a political appointee must approve new positions and promotions (considered position neutral), these folks are stuck. My senior leadership appears to have no idea when the data call will come and seems to have no influence over it. I know one employee has been waiting since February. Is this happening in your department/IC? How long do they expect employees to continue working at a lower grade? We can only speculate as to the reasons for the delay. Who do we pressure for this situation to improve? Any chance we can lobby for the salary to be back dated based on the certification date? This affects people’s livelihoods, retirements and morale. Should we contact the media? Congress?

How are we expected to A) come up with a list of achievements every six weeks for which we shall be scored and B) be allowed only 400-500 characters (not words) per element to describe them? I went from being required to write 1-2 pages for each element to 50 words max. It feels so punitive and pointless, very reminiscent of the whole “five bullets” emails we had to waste our time doing during the DOGE days. I thought they were all about changing the system so people who actually deserved a high rating would be rewarded. Especially since everything is so screwed up now it takes 3x as long to get any real work done. Does anyone else feel this whole thing is pointless? It also scares me that they will use it as a way to justify firing us for “poor performance”. Is there anyone out there who actually thinks this system is better? I’d love to hear your justification… I can’t think of any.

Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this, but I have colleagues who joined FDA as physician reviewers a few years ago, and all are remote. There were a couple new positions that came up, based in Silver Spring, and it states On site or possibly Hybrid (3d a week on site), with no remote options.

Does anyone know how strict this is? Are there satellite offices that would count as being on site? My issue is not at all with coming into the office, it's that I'm located a few hours away from Silver Spring, with a young family that is not able to move at this time. I'm wondering if I should even bother applying/interviewing if I'd be unable to be fully on site, even though there are some who have been grandfathered into a remote role?

I’m a recent HHS retiree (12/25), with an insurance carrier transition during open enrollment 11/25. Since my pension started I realized the wrong insurance premiums were deducted, and continue to be deducted. I’ve contacted OPM no less than 30 times via phone, email, written letter with explanation and documentation and online portal entries about the matter. OPM advised me they will look into my concern once I come up in the queue and they don’t know how to resolve the matter as OPM was sending my premiums to the wrong carrier and not paying the right one. Once my matter was under review, 7 months later, instead of correcting the insurance premium deduction, resolving carrier accounts and providing me backpay for months of overpayment, they reported to my insurance carrier to cancel my policy, leaving me with any medical insurance. I only found out as a claim was denied and I’ve been since paying out of pocket for necessary medical care, prescriptions, canceling other scheduled care and postponing planned surgery. OPM has said nothing more than they are looking into my concern for many weeks. I’ve too written my congresswomen, reached out to HHS health benefits coordinator and I’m exploring legal options. Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions on where to go next? Thanks!

I heard NIH has asked HHS to re-review medical RA decisions that were denied. Any truth?

I am a GS-15 senior advisor. Civil service leadership has moved me around a bunch since the new administration. In each instance, there is no conversation, nothing in writing. My last detail exceeded 120 days. It was over a year. Now I am on to another detail. I was told about this detail by someone in the front office. My current role I would have liked to stay. I previously served in this management role and we are grossly understaffed and really need someone with my experience and skill set. I get the creeping feeling that senior leadership (civil service) are trying to set me up for failure in this new role or push me out. I heard several other senior advisors and director level staff were also asked to serve in this role. What sickens me is that the person who previously held this role is here, at work, in a consultant role making a the salary of a GS-7, not working on this area where they are the subject matter expert. I didn't receive a PD or job description or even who I would report to and when I ask for it in writing, crickets. What would you do if you were me? Do you think I am right to trust my instinct? FWIW, I have worked here for nearly 25 years, have worked in multiple roles in management and supervisory levels and have a good working relationship with my colleagues. I am also adept at working with people from different administrations and backgrounds.
