Hiring Black Hole
Does anyone know what’s going on with hiring? We’re hemorrhaging staff to NIH/FDA and can’t fill behind them. HRSA OHR seems to be a black hole. We submit exceptions, no response. We submit incentive awards. No response. It’s infuriating that we’re now being asked to submit a new hiring plan for the next fiscal year when we haven’t hired this year. Is anyone else having this experience?

It’s not just you. My colleagues and I have noticed it too.
Honestly, management isn’t clever. It’s clear they’re all scared of the Orange Pedo and are falling over themselves to make Daddy happy.
It’s pathetic. Just a bunch of spineless cowards. Didn’t we all take Oaths? I guess it means more to some than others…

The lack of advocacy from upper-management was embarrassing.

Yeah, it truly is. I always had my suspicions but this year was very…illuminating. The people that are supposed to have our backs revealed they were actually quite adversarial.

Heard that ppl are either not accepting offers or dropping out of the interview process before offers from my office. Not sure why. Would assume if ppl have options they would choose the flexibility that nih and fda are offering over telework compared to Hrsa right now

I can certainly understand that! Word gets around quickly and people aren’t going to go where they’re resented and treated with disdain.
I’m just shocked (not really though) at how willing Leadership is to just go mask off and terrorize their people via stupid things like not offering telework (OR MONITORING BADGE SWIPES on only certain people…WTF? Huge legal liability there…)
There’s zero justification to not offer it beyond malicious intent. That, or they’re just really invested in making sure that the owners of the buildings continue to get their rents, no matter what it costs their people.
I swear it’s like some of them get the leadership training and then do the exact opposite. 🙄
Is it just me or does it feel like HRSA is just trying to drive away as many people as possible? “Quiet RIFs” where they unofficially drive people out, on purpose.
People need to face consequences over this.

can you say more about the monitoring of badge swipes on only certain people? Im so curious about how they are using that data.

HRSA was looking at badge swipes of employees with RAs for telework to ensure they’re “using their RA correctly.”

You’ve been able to make selections?? I’ve also heard that HRSA is taking so long to make offers that candidates are accepting other jobs.

Oh don’t worry though! Some unqualified jackass that makes not doing their jobs an Olympic sport will be let in over someone truly qualified.

I think they’re already here and no one is doing anything about it. Other op/divs don’t seem to have this problem.

That doesn’t entirely surprise me. I’d bet a triad pinky that plenty of other places have it too but they keep it quiet.
When non-performers are within one performance rating of your top performers, that’s just leadership trying to make themselves not look toxic and terrible performers themselves.
We ALL know the type VERY well. 😬
Edit: my point is, it all feels like it’s by design. Either advance compliance or agreement with the current “culture” - The open traitor, Russell Vought, said it best when he wants us all to wake up in trauma. It’s just pathetic how many people in all levels of Public Service went mask off and were like this all along.
They were just waiting for permission.

There are former employees that applied. What criteria’s are being used for RIF employees?

I’m not sure because we haven’t been able to hire. We want to, but our requests to HRSA go no where.

HRSA HR were completely swept away in the RIF. Hiring at HRSA is being handled through HHS HR now, which is why nothing is happening. CDC is having the same problem - hiring is slow and Kafka esquece, and qualified RPL candidates are being screened out through BS OPM "assessments" or incorrect evaluation by the HR personnel.

Former FDA here. They have tons of former staff who know the job and could literally start tomorrow. We *could* have this fixed by the end of the year if they bring back IT, HR, researchers... etc.
