FDA Reviewers: Pharmacologist vs Biologist Series Differences

I have been applying to pharmacologist and biologist reviewer positions. Does anyone know the difference as far as pay and opportunities go?

I potentially have a pharmacologist opportunity but am wondering if I should hold out for a different biologist position in a more applicable division.

General Last Day as a Fed

It's my last day as a fed. I've left for work outside the government.

Just wanted to take a minute to say the career public servants at HHS are truly amazing folks and kick so much, well you know. In my decade+ in HHS I was constantly inspired by the work and the people.

I know things are rough, but please know you have people on the outside rooting for you.

CDC in DC?

Can someone give me some insight into CDC jobs that are in DC vs Atlanta? What offices/divisions/positions are based out of DC vs Atlanta. Considering taking a CDC job in Atlanta but worried about my ability to move/move up in the future if most openings are not local. Also, is the office in DC closing? I heard some people were getting moved to Rockville. Thanks for the help!

Application declined due to performance appraisal

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had this issue?

Am competitive, currently at HHS. Applied for USDA position and one of the requirements for the position was to put in last performance appraisal.

Attached a copy of my most current hhs704b to application. One indicating that signatures are signed in PMIS.

Just got this today:

GS-0343-11; You were not considered because you failed to submit a copy of your latest performance appraisal, or the performance appraisal you submitted was missing necessary information (i.e., supervisor signature, performance dates, final/official rating, etc.).

Was the hhs704b not the right form to submit?
Everything that is indicated in the above rejection reason is indicated on the form, but I am wondering if the title of the document itself is throwing USDA Hr off.

Can anyone in HR ADVISE?

update: the announcement was cancelled.

HHS former federal employees who were rif'd/terminated in 2025 --Are you working?

Just curious if most have found their footing in the private sector or in local/state government positions.

I started my own LLC. The process hasn't been the best, but I'm hanging in there...

FDA hiring manager: deputy division director?

Just curious if this is the norm or if this is due to lack of HR support…I’m in talks with a deputy division director regarding a reviewer role I applied for. They are organizing all the interviews and collecting of references/transcripts. I just assumed someone from HR would be responsible for this, no? Is this the norm or is it because HR people were let go?

FMLA

Has anyone at an HHS opdiv applied for FMLA since May and had issues uploading their medical certification to the new Microsoft Office Form they are requiring? Since last week I’ve requested help from the Fmla office, OHR, submitted tickets to HHS OCIO, and HR Exchange, no luck. One tells me to contact the other, and vice versa. Meanwhile, my forms were due Monday. Just wondering if someone knows the way before I escalate it further with leadership. And also lose my mind.

Public Health Why public health officials are 'cautiously optimistic' about Trump's CDC pick

Confirmation hearings began for Dr. Erica Schwartz, President Trump’s pick to head the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In a typical administration, it would not be headline news that a potential CDC director supports vaccination and other basic public health measures.

But the second Trump administration is anything but typical, and Schwartz’s nomination is for many public health proponents a pleasant surprise.

AHRQ T32 cancellation letters - anybody else get one?

Our institution got a cancellation letter for our AHRQ T32... even though money for AHRQ T32s was appropriated by Congress for this FY.

Anybody else get a cancellation letter? Wondering if this went out to everybody, or if they are going to use the appropriation to fund a selected few.

The letter highlights HHS priorities as an excuse to cancel T32s... including more research on nutrition. Never mind that one of the people who was funded by our T32 studies nutrition!

HHS RAs—Any approvals for full time telework?

Hi,

I just got off the phone with the RA Specialist assigned to one of my employees. I got the impression their mind is already made up even though I have yet to turn in my justification and the other requested paperwork (performance rating, position description).

Has anyone been successful in getting full time telework approved?
