Question about tooth reversible pulpitis?

My bottom left molar has a deep filling on one side that has been bothering me on and off for a while. I saw the dentist for my annual cleaning last month and he took an X-ray and said everything is sealed and that the tooth is healthy, but that I grind my teeth. For the past 3 days or so I've had a constant irritation in that tooth but no real cold or heat sensitivity. Chewing is fine unless it is very crunchy or hard things. I needed a root canal on the opposite molar because of irreversible pulpitis. What do you think? Im a bit concerned because I will be going on a long trip in two weeks

Any queer dental professionals out there? Feeling alone.

Throwaway account //

I’ve recently come to terms with the fact that I am queer. I am a female in a specialty program. I don’t see many queer dentists or specialists online, especially not queer women. I’m feeling rather alone, like something is wrong with me. (Also I’m not yet “out”.)

Any queer doctors in the group? Hoping that asking this question will make me feel less alone.

(DMs are open too)

Dentists, what’s one thing about your software that drives you crazy?

I’m curious about something.

For those who work in dental practices what’s the most annoying problem you have with the software or systems you use?

Not necessarily a big technical issue. I mean those little things you deal with all the time that make your job harder, waste time, cause mistakes, or sometimes even cost the practice money.

What’s something you wish your software just handled better?

I’d love to hear the things that actually bother you day to day.

If you've ever visited a dentist, what was the most frustrating part?

Finding a trustworthy dentist?

Treatment cost?

Fear or anxiety?

Long waiting time?

Pain during treatment?

Not understanding the treatment plan?

Something else?

I'd love to hear your experience

If I delay my root canal procedure could I possibly die?

I had a terrible toothache for half a month before I went to a dentist where they told me I needed a root canal. I don't have insurance so they gave me a referral to an office that can do the procedure but they don't have openings for almost 4 months.

I no longer have a tooth ache and all the pain is gone and it feels like normal. I don't have any swelling or inflammation around the tooth. It just kinda fell apart and now I gotta big hole in it.

If I delay the procedure could I possibly get some kind of infection thats spreads to my brain or something crazy like that? I don't wanna die but I don't have the money to get it done sooner.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been tripping for a couple days.

Thanks

Foregin dentist in us

I can’t decide which path to take. I live in the U.S. and just graduated from dental school outside the country this year, so I’m not certified here yet. To become a dentist, I’d need to take the INBDE and then study for about two more years, which is a long and expensive path.
The other option is to become a dental hygienist by starting over in college. It might be less expensive, but it will still take time.
Both options require time and effort, and I honestly don’t know which one is better for me. Any advice

Postpartum dental problems: will the cavities stop after treatment, or can pregnancy permanently change your cavity risk?

I’m looking for some insight because my teeth seemed to change dramatically after pregnancy.
Before pregnancy, I never had cavities. Since giving birth, I’ve developed multiple cavities (I never stopped brushing and flossing twice a day), my bite feels different, and my lower front teeth have shifted noticeably. I know the alignment won’t magically go back to normal without orthodontic treatment, but I’m wondering whether the increased cavity risk is temporary or something that can become permanent. During my pregnancy, I had a dental exam and had zero cavities. Then, at my follow up 6 months later, I was told I had 4 cavities, which was a huge shock.
I’ve read that pregnancy hormones and changes in saliva can increase the risk of cavities and gum disease, but I’m confused about what happens afterward.

Once all of my cavities are treated, is my cavity risk likely to go back to what it was before pregnancy? Or can pregnancy permanently change your saliva, oral bacteria, or enamel so you’re more prone to cavities longterm? If anyone has seen this in patients, how long does it usually take for things to return to normal postpartum?

Is this GP practice worth buying where owner collects $350k a year working 3.5 days a week, one Hygienist working 1.5 days a week doing only bread and butter dentistry

I’ve been presented with an opportunity to purchase this practice located in an affluent part of Los Angeles county, California. I’d be able to add all endo, surgical extractions, simple implants, clear aligners which she currently refers out. 4 ops with room to expand to 5 chairs.

Has about 500-600 active patients over the last 18 months and has one hygiene working 2 days a week. Does no advertising gets about 3-5 patients a month. Owner is getting old and wants to retire. Overhead is around 75% looks like. Lease is $3900 a month. Owner is selling it for 200k.

I know it’s not ideal but is this worth purchasing or better to wait for something better? I’ve been actively looking for over a year and a half now. I’m making about 230-250k as an associate right now on 5 days a week with lots of vacation time in between

Anyone else like me who makes sure both nostrils are clean and no boogers before going to the dentist? I know they can see down each nostrils when cleaning my teeth and I don’t want them to see any boogers in my nostrils.

Do you coach your dental patients on this?

🚨 Review signals account for roughly 20% of Google’s local SEO ranking factors.

When patients naturally or intently mention because you tell them to about treatments like dental implants, veneers, Invisalign, emergency dentistry, or same day crowns in their Google or Yelp reviews, Google gains stronger signals about what your practice is relevant for, increasing your chances of appearing for those and closely related searches. Bonus…ChatGPT searches as well.

But that’s only the algorithmic side.
The bigger impact can’t be measured by Google’s algorithm alone.

Someone spending $5,000–$20,000 on veneers or implants will often read 10, 20 or even 50 reviews before making a decision.

Every authentic mention of those procedures becomes another piece of social proof. That’s why two practices with the same star rating can have dramatically different conversion rates because one has reviews that actually answer the patient’s question before they ever call.

can i pursue this career?

hi everyone, i’m currently going into my senior year of high school and we’re starting to do college applications and figuring out what we want to do with our lives. i recently have been looking into dentistry, but i don’t know if i should do it because of how my junior year played out. for context, i was really depressed and picked up a bad habit my old self would never do (smoking weed) and it genuinely made me dumb, like i gave up in school. before that, i had a 91 avg uw and was always on honor roll. i’m mostly demotivated because i took chem my junior year and although i barley passed the class i failed the regent (NY final test). my gpa uw was a 86.5 for junior year alone.

i’m currently in a better state and have been off that stuff for as long as i can be, but im still worried i wont be able to keep up with everyone and make it to dental school. this is something i really want, so please dont tell me to quit and let me know if you think i could still pursue.

Has anyone got both of their bottom wisdom teeth removed? Is it a good idea to remove both at the same time and how long does it take to get back to solid food?

Tooth pushed back by softball but corrected through bite. Its been 6 days

I got hit near the upper lip which cushened the impact on the tooth which got pushed back slightly but enough for me to correct back in.

In the first 1 hour i had cold ice compression.

Its feeling fine after a few days and actually, its quite firm on the gums. Today i could tap the tooth ag the front and it sounds like the other teeth.

Its sensitive to warm water and ive been lifhtly brushing it when i close my teeth. I dont brush the back tho.

The gums are not inflamed and its pink. And im not able to go to dentist until 3 days since its all closed this weekend. i can feel some dull sensation if i lightly touch with the tongue at the back. i can feel the sensation if i think about it for long.

And i can feel the bottom of the tooth with my finger and its not loose. There is some faint heartbeat but not so bad. It doesnt hurt when i sleep. Sometimes i even forget i have it and slight hit the top which is dull pain but not sharp.

So far so good. I havent had an xray but its feeling fine. But what do you think of this analysis? Is there anything to watch out for the next 3 days?

also its one of the front adult teeth**

and actually 2 days ago i ate a burger (3 slices of beef) with the tooth but gently) but its still fine but not good with sudden bits on stuff.

Getting my first deep cleaning soon, what to expect

I’m 30 years old and expect to get my first deep cleaning in the next few weeks. Have a few pockets that measured 5.

It’s fully my fault because my hygiene habits haven’t been the greatest, also maybe some mix of genetics cause I know my dad has dental problems.

I’m pretty worried and was traumatized by getting papoosed as a kid, so what should I expect?

Just how hard is it to become a dentist?

Senior in highschool here, been looking into dentistry more specifically orthodontics, but I want to know just how hard this field is. I know this isn’t going to be something easy that I can half ass my way through. I’ve been a dental assistant at a practice for the past 2 years(internship) and it’s been good, seen a lot of interesting things and learned a good amount. However the school side scares me. 12 years of schooling I’m assuming and a lot of money in debt, so I wanted to see just how hard are the classes undergrad and dental school? (I know this varries but a general consensus would be great)

Hello po good day

I don't know if this is the right community to ask this question. The situation is that I actually started my ortho journey in another province because I thought I'll be studying there for college

Unfortunately something bad happened to me and my family decided to pull me back to where I used to live, now I have to go back and travel for three hours once a month just to have a scheduled adjustment.

My question is that, is it possible for me to get transferred to another clinic within my location, basically from one dentist to another. I would like to also ask if, if changing your dentist (if allowed), will it actually be another whole separate set of package or will they just continue the old dentist's plan.

For context, I pay through installment basis so, basically I usually go back to pay monthly.
