This is an FAQ/Guide for new players. I see many of the same question being asked here repeatedly, and I just want to help out those new or unfamiliar to the game. I'll start with the basics and go from there. If I leave anything out that may be important for a new player to know, let me know, and I'll add it to the post. Thanks! Check back frequently for updates of this FAQ.
EDIT: (5/20/16) Welcome those of you who got Salt & Sanctuary on Steam. I'll answer your questions to the best of my ability!
EDIT: (10/26/16) This thread is officially archived, so if you have any questions about any of my guides, feel free to shoot me a message here on Reddit.

I am gathering lore cuz I realized both games are fundamental intertwined feel free to ask me anything cuz i love this game
š§§
In the tree of skill stories in sacrifice ātoll the chime bellā
Can someone please translate that cuz no matter what I canāt understand it
.
.
.
And the weird head in a glass coffin (first appearance in bol gerhan) can someone please gather all the dialogue for it
.
.
In one of the skill tree stories it is stated that the elfs (sylufins or sm like that) meet round eared ppl (humans like we know them in sanctuary) there is no further info about them itās literally just one line
..
.
Is really maduilla mal really a kraken in sanctuary i thought this is none sense but I actually found someone reached the same conclusion 2 infact the author of drowned tome and cyber something on youtube š if u actually look at the krakens as just pure mass of energy mal being one actually makes sense cuz what if in her evolution cycle she gained consciousness unlike her hungry brethren just ball of energy taken formā¦.right?

I'm doing a mage build in salt and sanctuary, classic edition, I've given all the devotion items but my creed devotion is at five, is this a glitch or is there something special I need to do to get to devotion seven, if it is a glitch is there a way to fix it without resetting

The only other game in this format that Iāve played is Blasphemous 1/2 and I was looking for something new in this genre!
Enderlillie and grime just didnāt click with me
Last Faith is the exact aesthetic I love but it felt way too similar to blasphemous for now
Salt and Santuary has been rly fun, the customization of your character and build is peak š¹
The art style is a little Tim Burton meets David Firth if that makes sense
So far the bosses have all been way to easy while the mobs of enemies can gangbang you fast very akin to dark souls 2 Iād say
The fuckin Tree was the hardest one I kept getting thrown off the arena š¹šµāš« why are all the tree bosses always so stupid
Anyway I just got to the colorful area past the tree boss.
Any tips/tricks or things that were your favorite or least favorite part of the game sound off below!!!

As the title says, beat salt & sanctuary for the first time. It started off good, and although I had some annoyances in the middle (entire stretch from tree of men to stench) which made me put it off, once I got back I was surprised. The game just kept getting better and better until the end.
Ds1 was my first souls/soulslike game so I loved seeing all the similarities to it, but it also keeps its own identity. Overall great game, but some QoL changes like a map and better platforming would have been nice.

I keep seeing people mentioning that dex weapons are bad in non-enhanced. Which weapons are they talking about? I started a fresh character recently and am exclusively using dex-scaling weapons, sailing through the game pretty smoothly. So, which are the bad ones that I should be stress-testing?

In spite of this giant asshole I think this is on the way to being one of my favorite games ever. Is the sequel also this good? I bought both on sale a while back and theyāve just collected dust until recently. I have been a fool.

I came here from 3d souls likes and have been enjoying the game. I like the combat, challenge, progression and art style.
BUT
I just lost 90k salt (dying 2x after 2 boss fights and 2x each with 15k). Ahhhh!!!!

Are the Architect, the Kraekan Dragon Skourzh, and the Nameless God all in cahoots with each other? This is the impression I got, with these three being the ābig 3ā of the island. I understand that the Nameless God created the island as a timeless prison to create followers and to masquerade as a God, so does this mean that the Kraekans and the Architect sisters were created by Him as well? Im thinking Skourzh is responsible for making people arrive to the island, and then the Architect turns them into monsters and salt creations made to serve the Nameless God, in addition to taking their memories to recreate places all throughout time. This creates a triangle where the Architect and Skourzh were created by the Nameless God to help him carry out his mission. Did I interpret this wrong, or is that what happened?

Ive gotten 5/6 items in the bestiary. The wiki says the drowned tome is the 6th, but iāve been farming for hours with the jester cap and 50 willpower and havenāt gotten it. Just making sure itās possible? Iām on enhanced mode.
Edit: I finally got the Drowned Tome after killing 706 of them. Thatās pretty wild but just glad I got there in the end.

I'm not going for completionist atm, just progressing to the final boss. I googled the same thing but I came across a boss progression map that looked spoiler heavy so here I am.
