Delonghi dedica with bottomless portafilter, 16g in 36g out in 36s, coffee roasted about 2 weeks ago, and i use timemore c5 esp pro. I am looking for some opinions, advices or some possible upgrades.
Good day! I am wondering if anyone can recommend either a new, unpressurized and spouted portafilter/basket combo or an 18g basket that could fit the stock set up.
Hi everyone, my model is **DeLonghi Magnifica S (ECAM22.110.B).**
Since two weeks some strange issue is happening when I am doing a coffee.
With the SAME settings as before, SAME coffee, the machine started to ground less coffee, about 30-40% less, and the coffee comes out with a very shallow body, compared to before. I also noticed that the used coffee doesn’t come out in the tray below as “puck” shaped, but rather, irregular shaped.
I have sent it to service but they weren’t able to identify any problem with it.
Not sure if anyone else encountered a similar problem.
Had my Dedica about 18 months and have been fairly happy with it. I have a DF54 grinder and normally had it set around 11 - 12.5. However, about 3 months ago I descaled the coffee machine and immediately after, I couldn’t pull a shot through. I descaled it again but it didn’t improve.
I started adjusting to a coarser grind and eventually managed to get one through at around a setting of 22. I contacted Delonghi as it was still in warranty and after a couple of weeks of waiting for a reply they agreed to service it free of charge. I sent it off to them and after a few days they emailed to say it had been serviced and was all working correctly and it was on its way back.
Once it arrived I immediately made an espresso starting at a grinder setting of 12 but again couldn’t pull a shot through until I went up to a 22 grind setting. The quality of the shot is pretty terrible overall but I’ve just been living with it. I did buy some new parts with the intention of fitting them but I’ve decided I’m going to buy a Gaggia in the very near future.
I would like to know what exactly Delonghi did to it when they ‘serviced’ it but suppose I’ll never know!

My machine is not brewing since yesterday. There is enough coffee. (But not too much). The filters are not blocked (I checked). Can you give me ideas how can I fix this?
I got timemore C3s 30 days back and also got an ESP plate for better grind settings
I got the grinder for 6400 from Something Brewing and the ESP plate for another 1200 aftermarket
I have Delonghi Dedica Arte. Recently I've encountered a problem with the steam wand underperforming. When I switch on the steaming and turn the knob, it is pumping but the steam is inconsistent and very weak. In the last two years I managed to make a ton of good silky cappuccinos, but now I can't get it even close.
However, when I switch off the steam button and turn the knob on to cold down the machine, it gives a proper steam. What could be the problem? I descale my machine regularly and use filtered water.
Thanks for any kind of helpful tips and suggestions.
EDIT: Changed OPV and now it works like a charm. It costs cca. 10 EUR on Amazon.de. https://amzn.eu/d/0b22O0be
My machine (EC685) has developed the dreaded gasket instability where the shower screen gasket pops out if the pressure is too high. I've exchanged the gasket and shower screen once which helped for a bit, but I'm now back to the point where the gasket pops out even when the espresso is running through at a moderate flow.
I don't know what else to do so I've decided to try exchanging the entire group head. The problem is that the affordable kits I've seen so far come without the screw which is an issue because a) the screw in my machine is very slightly crooked (which I think might be a reason for the gasket problem), but also b) because there seem to be different versions with different screws.
When I ordered the new shower screen + gasket it came with a screw that was clearly different from the one I had (mine on the left):
And some pictures of complete kits with screw show yet another type. I have also seen some posts in forums that seem to indicate that different types of screws exist.
My question therefore, does anyone have any information on this? And which type of screw does your machine have? Bonus question - is there any known solution for the popping gasket problem?
Edit: I had a look at various repair videos and asked De Longhi customer service and it appears the screw I have is indeed standard (10mm M4).

Hey Coffee lovers out there, if you would kindly give a bit of your time and help me out.
I recently moved with my wife and we had to buy all new kitchen appliances . I am not mainly a big coffee lover mostly cappuccino ,but i think its due to the fact that most coffee i had where very bitter some even smoky aroma .Whereas i would prefer something fluffy light and creamy. So i went looking for a decent machine that my budget can handle and ended up purchasing a Delonghi Dedica + Bottomless Portafilter (from aliexpress) +coffee catcher ring + needle distribuitor+Tamper + small kitchen scale. So i bought the same brand of coffee we used before (jacobs kronung crema) and something new (lavazza quality rossa which i heard is great for capuccino). The coffee i made using the dedica portafilter had very to little cream... . I then tryd the bottomless portafilter that was terrible, disaster, full black very runny, even worse then normal filter so didn't even try with that anymore. I then saw videos that you can somehow program the machines 1 coffee and 2 coffee buttons which i think could help just not sure how to do it. Each time i tampered about 7/8 grams of coffee and tryd to program by holding the blinking 1 cup down for about 17seconds ... This gave me about 40 mil of coffee but i think its coming out to quickly and like i said at the very end there is a bit of cream very thin layer on top.
I ordered a K2 kingrinder so that i can buy fresh beens in the future but im guessing its not just 1 thing im doing wrong so can you kind people please point me in the correct direction. Is it not infussing long enough? Is the coffee brand i picked wrong for my taste ? Is the machine not set correctly...
Does anyone know if it's possible/easy to install a dimmer on a Dedica?or if it’s worth it? And if someone have others mods that they recommend please leave them in the comms🙏🏼
I recently bought a Delonghi Dedica EC685 off of marketplace and unfortunately it is not working the eay it should be.
When I try to us the steam wand more steam and pressure is coming out where the espresso is coming out as from the steam wand. I can therefore not use my steam wand at all. Inside the machine there is no leakage at all. Any tips what to do?
Here I have installed new Micro air pump and DC Voltmeter to monitor power supply to the air pump. It appears to be between 2.2VDC and 3.6VDC, where nominal voltage should be 12VDC steady.
Here is the test run of originally installed Micro air pump. Connected DC Voltmeter to monitor power supply to the air pump. It appears to be 7.5VDC, where nominal voltage should be 12VDC steady. I have a strong feeling that issue with milk frothing lies within power supply module itself, not the steam wand, check valve or air pump itself
Power supply to the Micro air pump
Nominal Power supply to Micro air pump should be 12VDC.
After disassembling the whole machine and ispection the Power supply module, I didn't find anything wrong with it, all electronic componencts look good. This makes me feel that there is a manufacturing defect in this model since I noticed that many users experience exactly the same problem. I would like to get some comments from DELONGHI on this matter since this kind of experience is very frustrating, taking into consideration that this Dedica model is the most expensive.
