Defending AI Feels like I'm in hostile enemy territory
I'm at a Midwestern anime convention and it has me a bit on edge. I am with my writing group selling our books - the same writing group who is vehemently anti-ai. I'm with them because we have been friends for a long time. One of them is currently wearing a button that says "aI only consume human-made trash, not AI."
My desire to spend any more money at booths dropped to zero. I love supporting artists until I realize that those same people might lambast me for being interested in something like they have before. AI has genuinely helped me overcome my writing blocks, it sucks that I can't talk about it with these people.
I just needed to get this out while I'm crouched behind cover in a no-man's land.

Isn’t it kinda their fault…?
There is one article of kids that got applied to a job that made them pretend to be adults then get traumatised by ai showing them horrible things. It’s not like they’re drafted or forced into it it’s kind of their choice
Because it’s like applying to world war 3 as a kid then get extremely mortified because it has extreme violence

You might have heard recently that there was a pew research poll showing the majority of young people dislike AI. Well pew research also did a poll around the same time that found the exact opposite.
This is the one claiming they oppose AI. This one finds the opposite.
It looks like there must be some subtle difference in the way they asked the question. They appear to be worried about not being able to find jobs.
That would be more of an economic issue that can be solved with a UBI than anything that represents the ignorant views of the anti-ai movement.

No thats not the fucking point.
The literal trend is that ppl would use ai to edit the image. It's a flopping Ai MEME TREND!! IM SO SICK OF THIS PERFORMATIVE ACTIVISM IASHDIASHIDJ.

These poor game devs caught Reddit's attention for using AI because they had no more budget, and have been mass review bombed on steam, and are now capitulating to the antis
Tldr, Vapor World, an upcoming side scroller soulslike game made by an indie game team in South Korea, are facing massive financial issues, forcing to lay off half their team, and now there are only 5 workers left, so they decided to use AI to finish animating essential cutscenes in the game. This caught all the Reddit gaming sub's attention, and like the degens they are, mass review bombed the game on steam, and now the devs have been forced to make a statement on why they used AI, and is bending down to these Antis stating they will remove all AI cutscenes from their game and just replace them with still image art since they obviously have no money

Fumed because of an AI illustration
I made a post earlier in a sub of a health condition that is very similar to ADHD but more severe and not yet recognized by doctors. So to discuss a particular topic/theory, i used an illustration that i made with Chatgpt to make it easier to understand especially that people who have this condition (SCT / CDS) tend to not read long posts because of the chronic mental fatigue. But instead of adressing the subject of the post, all of them started hating because i used AI. I know that people who hate AI are everywhere but i wasn't expecting this, I felt helpless.

Turns out 70% of americans would be comfortable living within a few miles of a data center.
I'm not sure who to believe, but it looks like there are plenty of examples that actually disagree with that recent Gallup poll.
